This car just isn't for everyone, and that's how I like it. Got mine and it's modified I'm at 200hp and great! Not too many people have them were I live and that's great.
Sometimes the price of the car is not an issue, fun factor and rarity on our roads, counts for a lot, and in this respect the tiny Abarth is a winner. It has a racing pedigree second to none, and the fact that not many people know the significance of that Scorpion badge, counts for a lot. Even though the competition in this sector of the market is very strong, especially with the Ford Fiesta ST, that car depreciates heavily, whilst the Abarth retains its value, simply because of its rarity.
One of the most fun things about the Fiat is that people don't expect it to be quick and they try to pull away meanwhile they are in your rearview mirror lol and the car makes such an amazing sound like an Italian race car
These cars have actually proven to be very reliable and people would choose this over the Mini Cooper because it has such good sound and really amazing feeling where is the Mini is more isolated.
Another great review, Steve. Thanks. Given that they were trying to push hardtop Abarths out the door for $17k after applied incentives, it's insane to price this car at $33k. The competition at this price point is tough (and gets rarefied if you throw used cars into the mix). Maybe if you wait a bit for incentives to come around, you'll be able to head to the showroom and pick one of these up for under $25k. If I wanted one, I'd certainly wait and see as model-year-end approaches.
I think fiat/Chrysler needs to put a back up camera in the 500 for both the cabrio and the 3 door at lease it comes with a back up censers. Also maybe put a touch screen in not saying the current head unit is bad but it just be a nice touch. And finally I feel fiat/Chrysler could be pushing at lease 184 maybe even 200 horse power from that tiny little 1.4. All in all I love the 500 and amazing review Steve as always
The regular hatchback is the better option over this sardine can. On another note, this car is asking for more power. There's versions of the 1.4T multiair motor in Europe with 20-50 more hp and torque than what we get and I hope they realize soon they're gonna need those versions here in the US cause 160 is econobox territory nowadays, not sport compact despite this car's light weight. Had this car came with more than 180hp from the get go, it would've been even more compelling.
The auto will come in the 500 Abarth models; wish the traditional automatic comes in the Fiat 500L. Many car reviewers like Steve felt that the twin-clutch is maddening in that one. So, a traditional auto should be coming as well as a rumored 500X, a Fiat 500L with AWD/4WD.
Fiesta st is a much better car and better to.drive.....but doesnt sound as.good or look as good... and it isnt italian...plus doesnt sound nearly as good...did I mention this car sounds good? It does...sound good
TestDriveNow.com featuring Drive Time with Steve Hammes I loved the Fiesta ST. Getting this car next week, I am not sure it can touch the high praise of the Fiesta.
Honestly, the cabrio version is just way way too overpriced for what it is. 4K for a folding cloth roof! The regular hardtop with no navigation would be my choice, as it comes in at about 26K.
I have to admit that I was not a fan of this ride. I'm sure there's an audience, and to be fair, it's probably not my demographic. But, yes, laugh at that price.
Love my Abarth Cabrio! NEVER had any issues with quality etc ....nor has my brother with his as well....love the brand!
How long have you guys had it?
i'm in the country, for an "economy car" it's a blast. the engine has an iron block and the abarth come from the factory with no muffler

Do you still have the car? Has it been reliable? What issues have you had?
@@buildmorefarms1007 yep still have the car and running without any problems, even with the mods put on car. Will never get rid of my go cart.

They had lowered the price the last couple years that they were produced, I bought one for around 21,000 new
That’s a great pickup. I LOVED my test drive of a 500 except for the part where I just couldn’t fit in the thing. Too bad.

if you need a backup camera or sensors for the regular 500, you really shouldn't be driving

Might as well get a ford fiesta st or even a focus st
Both are very quiet

Honestly the price is responsible considering what your buying
I'm surprised it doesn't have a 6-speed manual.
Does the H in abarth not exist??????
It varies but if you want to sound Italian then drop it.

The sound is the best part of the entire car!

The body is tight because fiat add 47kg of reinforcement in the body structure
Avoid like the plag...err, Ebola, got it. Good, honest review. Thanks Steve.
Maggie Meatslapper. Thank you.
Great review Mr Steve, but when I ask myself why does this car exist I struggle to find an answer
The potholes where i live will eat these.
No
Price this at 25k with all the goodies and fiat has a winner on its hands, priced at 33k and it's a loser out of the gate!
