I don't even know the rules of cricket but I would gladly spend a day with a couple of friends and a two cases of beer at Pukekura Park, just learning about the sport and enjoying life... Not that the other grounds are not good, New Zealand looks like a place to drink beer and watch cricket on a lazy afternoon.
@@mikespearwood3914 Yeah they do look small and some of them are but its no different to other countries around the world, it just feels as if NZ gets singled out for small grounds
I'm a big cricket fan from Canada and I have an official Central Stags and Northern Knights jersey thanks for showing the Super Smash grounds.Great channel!!
blimey! Mount Maunganui is ginourmous! As a dutch citizen, I can confirm we have NOTHING like this. Even out highest peak starts at like 200 meters elevation, so this monster starting at sea level is nausea inducing high. I can't even imagine climbing that monster.
I appreciate you looking at other sports and arenas in more obscurer leagues but enough time has passed where you can probably afford to re-explore top flight football stadiums etc.
I've never been to NZ but I reckon they badly messed up Eden Park. It should have always had stands that could be moved. Now that could be done with expensive equipment or via a cheaper message where roads of terraced season can be put in front of a raised grand stand. It would have allowed cricket to continue and would have still allowed a bigger crowd and closer crowds to the pitch. My other comment is whether the ground next door could be improved to be a cricket and an AFL ground for matches. The ground would need to be lengthened and AFL could pump money into it. Is there an option for a sporting precinct there? I hear in Auckland they want to use Mt Smart (I think) for shared cricket and football, but they can't find a spot for their current occupant to go to.
1. New Zealand doesn’t play AFL football 2. Everyone in Auckland would rather Eden Park be only for Rugby and Football/soccer. The reason cricket has been dying is because Basketball and football/soccer are the most popular sports
@@liambazza9078 NZ plays AFL and has a national team. But considered a very minor sport. AFL matches involving St Kilda were played each year in Wellington, with the stadium built with AFL in mind. The AFL and cricket are trying to get the stadium built in NZ for cricket, that could accommodate AFL. AFL games will be more successful in Auckland and there is a real opportunity to lift tourism to NZ through footy matches. But probably needs to be two Victorian teams playing.
@@liambazza9078 NZ cricket has always been a poor relation. I just reckon it was a massive missed opportunity for sport in Auckland. You would have had a stadium used all year round, which then makes it more profitable as a venue which can be passed on to spectators. Its not difficult to have demountable stands. I think its interesting about the Long Blacks (basketball) and the All Whites (soccer) taking a lot of interest. But remember in Australia there are four footballing codes alone. Plus the summer sports. In the T20 domestic competition you're getting over 30k per match in Perth.
@@largechips Thats the one that Australian rules footy played at wasn't it. It was built with that in mind. I'm surprised that their T20 competition matches don't play them there. I assume that the Basin has fallen away as an international venue. Bitterly disappointed that they couldn't utilised retractable seating for Eden Park as a cricket stadium that can fit 50k for important T20 and one dayers would be sensational, instead of playing in a small venue that ultimately will only be for rugby.
I’m no cricket fan, but those venues look incredibly cozy. Pukekura Park especially looks like a fantastic place to spend an afternoon!

If you want to break batting records, play at that ground. Smallest boundaries in the world i reckon
@@cowann3337 Some of the NZ cricket grounds do look absurdly small!!

Many of these are really picturesque and look like a great place to relax and watch a match.
Man New Zealand has some scenic cricket grounds🥝
nice small stadiums cozy and lowkey.
Don't know much about cricket! But the stadiums look great!!
Now that's the music I love! Great video! Spot on with Pukekura Park. Top notch!
No joke I’d love to watch any sport, including cricket from a beanbag
2:20 kiwis actually say the wrong way of runs for wickets. 😜
same goes to ausies as far as I know
You missed the Otago Volts second home ground, John Davies Oval in Queenstown, Otago.
Jhon Davis oval queenstown South of New Zealand 😢
After years of me asking, you finally did it.

Lots of porn bots in your comment section.
Edit; Now 24 hours later and deleted.
The 2nd ground (Kings) is really pretty.
My local club probably has better attendances than Super Smash tbh(1 spectator is enough for that)
Can you do a video on the LigaPro Ecuador stadiums please? I believe it’s the top Football/soccer league in Ecuador.
It's in the works.
@@TheWideWorldofStadiums thank you very much.

What about the Wellington ground that has some cricket and AFL. Its in an oval. Is that used by that comp? some really good humour here too.
You mean sky stadium? That only holds internationals.
