The old man (Jud) was played by Fred Gwynne, well known for playing Herman Munster in the TV show "The Munsters" (Gwynne height was 6´6´´/ 1,96m) . There is also a cameo of Stephen King in the funeral scene, playing the priest.
The reason why Gage was so strong was because it wasn’t really him. He didn’t really come back. It was a Wendigo inside his body. That’s why they “don’t come back the same.” Because it’s not them anymore. It’s the Wendigo in their body.
Same. To this day I avoid that scene. I can’t do it. It’s terrifying. I saw it young so it should have been around the age the mom was when all that happen. I was and am horrified by the Zelda character.
Sometimes dead is better... The book is, while being very morbid, an amazing tale of a man going insane Knowing that everything hes doing is wrong, but just not being able to do otherwise. That tiny chance, maybe its not too late this time...
I think I find that to be the most terrifying part of the story, the constant rationalization and things just get worse and worse w/ every bad choice...yet he keeps thinking _one more time_ will fix it...
In Dr. Creed's defense, he lost his mind, I think he started losing it when he couldn't save Pascow. And he was influenced by the evil in the burial ground.
Girl, the scariest part for me as a little girl was the sister Zelda. That had followed me to this day and I’m in my 40’s. Scared the everloving mess out of me. Not even Gage with the scalpel, not the Mom and Dad making out with her eye all popping out. No. It’s Zelda.
sometimes… dead is bedduh. I gotta say, if you are into books at all, this book is an absolute banger. One of the King classics. **and by banger of course I mean bang bang straight to your damn heart
I'm not a parent so I'll ask you parents out there. If your kid died tragically. Would you? Knowing it's close by. I go with Judd "sometimes dead is better"
Me personally, I wouldn't be able to do it. I don't believe that it's possible to bring someone back from the dead, unless God is the one doing it. & if it is possible, I don't believe it would be my child anymore.
Another Classic! Am glad to see it & look forward to more, friend! I always tell my lil "Where were you when?" story on this one for those who may be interested? On April, 8 1994 my band was on break from tour & us & a couple other punk bands headed down to Atlanta to see Frank Black & the Ramones. On the way down we heard non-stop Nirvana blocks on the radio between tapes & wondered why? Then we heard they found Kurt Cobain's body. That night the usually quiet Joey Ramone dedicated "Pet Sematary" to Kurt. Once again, hope you have a Merry Christmas & a Happy & Blessed New Year! See ya! 🤘🎅❤️
I saw a bunch of horror movies when I was young, most of the Alien franchise, other stuff I can't recall, but the scariest movie I ever saw till this day is Pet Sematary. What made you watch this now? 😂
I love horror movies, especially 70s, 80s, & 90s horror. I’ve been wanting to watch this for a while but I never got the chance too. I made a poll for what movie I should react to, & Pet Sematary won.
The movie doesn't do a good job of explaining (it hints at it) that the burial ground has been cursed and is inhabited by a wendigo spirit. What ever is buried there comes back as a corpse animated by the evil spirit. And it can get into people's heads and influence them. It's why Judd led Dr. Creed there, and why Dr. Creed followed. It's also why the truckers feel an urge to drive faster on that stretch of road. It shows Rachel visions of Zelda to use her guild over her sister's death to mess wither her head. You don't even have to go there to be influence, just near by.
When he burried his cat he was ignorant, when he burried his son he was in grief too much, when he burried his wife he was gone mentally point is in all three situations he was thinking of himself instead let things go and except the situation that is why soil of men heart is stonier but again it is also a curse wich is old man's fault when he showed him mic mac burial ground he started chain reaction my favourite horror very creepy and most unique story check out pet sematary 2 1992 it is not as good as first but solid story different familly, different plot but same base about mic mac burial ground
I would highly recommend the book. It is my favorite Stephen King book. There is a lot more depth to the story in the book. This is one of my favorite horror movies of all time. I first saw it when I was about 10 and Zelda traumatized me. The novel is actually the only book that gave me the creeps and scared me. I haven't sat and watched it in probably 10 years, as a father of three kids I just can't. As a father it just hits too hard for me. It's an Excellent novel and film but a very hard watch.
@@ItsAlaanaThe kicker was how they doted on Ellie and neglected the baby! While Gage was running towards the road, the mother should have been running too instead of screaming to her husband to “get the baby!” 🤦🏾♀️
Fred Gwynne was PERFECT to play Jud. Just the murmur of his voice makes you at ease.

You keep posting the same comment in every Pet Sematary reaction I've seen.
This has to be one of the few films that can pull off a dramatic “Nooooo!” scream effectively

That makes a lot of sense. I don't know much about Wendigos though. I only heard of them from the game Until Dawn.
This is the most terrifying movie I've ever seen. I can never watch it without turning away at specific scenes
Watch Misery. Another S. King movie. You may change your opinion. I won't spoil it for you
OooOoo, which scenes?
@24:03 - The priest is book author Stephen King. He is well known for playing cameo roles in many of the movies which are made from his books!
Zelda gave me nightmares for YEARS!!! That "never get out of bed again!!!" Gives me chills every damn time 😭😭😭😭😭
Same. To this day I avoid that scene. I can’t do it. It’s terrifying. I saw it young so it should have been around the age the mom was when all that happen. I was and am horrified by the Zelda character.
Whatever or whoever you bury is yours. So Ellie’s cat became Louis’ when he buried it in the Pet Sematary
Sometimes dead is better...
The book is, while being very morbid, an amazing tale of a man going insane

I really need to read the book.

lol. I can understand a kid being scared of Zelda. I probably would have been scared too, I'm not going to lie.

I’ve been wanting to collect Stephen King books. I’ll probably start with this one because I loved this movie.
The baby boy was in kindergarten cop and Freddy's new Nightmare his name is Miko Hughes Just a couple I've seen. He still has his baby face.
Thank you! That’s where I know him from. I used to watch Wes Craven’s New Nightmare all the time when I was younger.
He also played on full house
He used to give me nightmares
He was also in Full House, The Nanny & Spawn, to name a few other projects that he was in.
Have you seen "Shawshank Redemption"? If not please react to it. It's a different kind of Stephen King movie
This is actually in my list of movies to watch. I’ll add it to the next poll.

@@ItsAlaana Me personally, I agree but I have to admit I'd think about it
@@adampare8088 I would think about it too to be honest. But I could never go through with it.
I have contemplated this many times. I would. And I’d most likely regret it.
I think a lot of people would do it. A tragedy like that will make you abandon all vestiges of reality…

How good an actor was that kid? To cry on command like that so convincingly?
Very talented

This explanation makes it all make sense now. I’m going to be reading the book soon to get a better understanding & because I love this story.

ok cool. I'll add that to the list. I didn't know they made a second one. I did see that they made a remake recently. I might check that one out too.

This movie is as much about neglectful parenting as anything else
EXACTLY!!! All of this could have been prevented if they were better parents.
No it's not. The wife's parents yes. But the evil spirit made these actions happen.
That’s actually true. Imagine having pets and small children next to that road with no fence? Come on!
