It's not a very practical move though it's just for display.. I can't imagine any ancient warrior fighting like this and not risking to hurt himself in the process
Hector was a noble dude. Gave his life for his family, country, & pride, & didn't run from his destiny. That's why even though he lost, he is still remembered
I have to tell you it is a legend, what means that there is not proven evidence that Troy existed nor the war not even Homer's characters. It's like believing Captain America existed.
To be fair I think the scene plays out the story correctly. Hector is an honourable and very capable warrior. Achilles is the greatest warrior ever known and one with vengeance and anger in his heart. Both know the outcome is set and Hector is bargaining for his own body rather than negotiating fairly for them both and Achilles rejects the offer as such.
After his anger subsided, he did none of those hideous things to Hector's body, which he returned to his father, as well as releasing Hector's cousin whom he held as his concubine. Nuff respect??

@@vandave1517Tell us you didn't read Iliad without telling us you didn't read Iliad. Achilles was killed by Apollo, no man could kill him. That's why this movie is so great because they left gods out from story and made it more realistic where only humans are fighting against eachother.

Hector was the only one fighting Fair Achilles had the help from the gods fighting a normal human and Hector was a mortal fighting a demigod and was taking care of himself with nothing but out the mud training while the other cared not cause he couldn't die
Hectors fitness is what killed him, Hector only fought when he needed to, Achilles fought all the time. Hector was the better fighter in my opinion, he trained less and fought less and still almost got em.
The better fighter is the one who always trains himself. Hector is just a self- defender who gets one stroke right. Hector himself was in awe of Achilles' spear throw after an earlier battle, saying it was an impossible throw!
Your opinion is absolutely garbage. Thats like saying the moon is larger than the sun imo when it is objectively false. Achilles was trained by legends and Goddesses . His fight iq was so much better than the warriors of his age that only God Apollo could kill him..
Patroclus shouldn't have been there in the first place, he had NO idea what he was getting himself into. Nobody forced him to go there and do that. Achilles compares himself to a Lion?, Wow.
So y'all are saying Achilles got no honor huh, y'all forgot Hector killed Menelaus who won against Paris fair and square to protect his brother. I guess that's honor for you 😂

They both played their roles so perfectly
They are both equally badass and skilled warriors, but Hector was the only one who showed any respect in this exchange.

After his anger subsided, he did none of those hideous things to Hector's body, which he returned to his father, as well as releasing Hector's cousin whom he held as his concubine.

Achilles has plot armor.
Hector didn’t treat Patroclus’ body with respect. He would have fed it to the dogs had Menelaus and Ajax not come to its defense.
Never seemed like Hector had any resentment for Achilles. Hector truly hated war.
