    The Stuntman Chest Harness might also be a very good solution. Check it out: amzn.to/2EtD8Fv

    great video - hero sessions are still excellent helmet cameras without a gimbal for everyday footage. Really like the comparison footage of the chest mounting without / without the gimbal.

    Hey Brad just for the record you don't have to remove that screw to get to the batteries. Just loosen it a couple of turns. Also thanks for the tip on turning off image stabilization on the session. EVO doesn't mention that anywhere.

      David Wayne - hey, you’re right! Well, that’s a lot better than risking loosing it. Thanks!

    Good video Brad! Does the Gimbal motor, below and in front of the Go Pro, show up on the video taken?
    What is the stabilisation performance like for walking, wearing the chest mount?

    Cool video! My biggest issue with the EVO is that it is not waterproof! I’ve already had two warranty replacements due to malfunctioning caused by the sweat that drips on and into it! I wish EVO would address this issue, but who knows....

      thanks for the heads up. i'll try not to sweat on mine.

    Thanks for the great video! I've used this setup lightly for work videos but have never really put any abuse on it. Planning to use it on the handlebars of my fixed gear in NYC, does anyone have an idea of how the video quality (stabilization) will compare to chest mounted?

    hello brad i am intrested in the evo ss but i whana know if you use "out of the box" settings for the pan or did you tweak the settings i try a hand held rollei gimball mounted on my chest and it will not work because of the pan maintaining the heading in a turn and coming back too slowly it's like you turn lef and look right that is very unnatural i consider disabling the pan motor an making it a 2 way gimball but that tis very drastic lol

      I don't have this gimbal anymore, switched to a DJI OSMO Action camera - it's not as smooth as the gimbal but it's good enough for me and I don't have to wear all the damn extra pieces and don't have the motor noise from the gimbal which annoyed me way more than wearing it. That said, I just used the thing out of the box. I believe I set it to a mode where it follows your side to side motion (panning) so if you corner it corners with you - albeit a little slowly which is good if your body is turning left and right as you pedal. The up and down would stay at a fixed angle which I would set by holding the head at the angle I wanted for a couple seconds - then it would keep that orientation - like say I set it to be level with the ground - it would always stay level and would do so immediately whereas the side to side was a little slower but maybe not as slow as your rollei but I can't say that for sure.

      @@MTBIKEXC hi Brad, tank's for your replay and yes the gimall thing is a lot of hussel and the best alternative is the osmo action or gopro 7 / 8 the only downside is that the cam's do crop the image i think there is a wide angel lens for the osmo. i consider that option to.
      Have a nice day

    Brad!!! I just ordered the Session 5 and the EVO SS. Looking forward to using them, so thanks for the tips. But one question. A BIG QUESTION!! Comment, really. I just "chatted" with GoPro Support and they said its a no-no to take the batteries out of the Session 5.. The support rep did not say why the heck they put a screw there on that panel. But said is a definite no-no to take them out. Will Void the warranty. Other than that, appreciate the help.

      Hi Cliff - I don't take the batteries out of the GoPro, didn't know you could, but I do remove 'em from the Gimbal and found out you don't need to completely remove that screw which I was worried about losing. Partial loosening is enough. Anyway, thanks for watching and the warning about removing the GoPro battery.

    Nice practical video Brad. I'm looking at one of the Evo's after my Feiyu Tech WG died. Can you tell me please, can you get to the batteries without taking off the GoPro mount?

    • @MTBIKEXC
      @MTBIKEXC  6 лет назад

      Yes - you can remove the batteries without removing the go pro. In fact, I'm never removing the GoPro now as it's too difficult to re-figure out how it goes on. :-)

      It worked well the entire time I had it but when the DJI Osmo Action dropped in price at one point (I think to $250 briefly but it's back up) I snatched one up and although no where near as smooth as the gimbal, it was smooth enough for me when chest mounted and I got rid of the gimbal and camera. The gimbal was superior for video but made audio noise and all the parts and pieces and batteries just were just a pain to deal with plus I'd hit the gimbal on my knee at times. I think the Hero 8 or Osmo Action have good enough stabilization and okay audio that I'll probably never go back to a gimbal.

      BTW - check out this video: ruclips.net/video/XIQERnl0I80/видео.html That was shot on the DJI Osmo Action with no gimbal.

    Thanks for the video. so you just manually adjust the gopro but twisting and holding it in the direction you want it to face? I had some issues with the feiyu wg so im thinking of giving this a shot.

    • @MTBIKEXC
      @MTBIKEXC  6 лет назад

      Yep - that's how you change the direction it's pointing, just hold for a couple seconds.

    Maybe try tightening the straps so it actually sits on your chest instead of your blubbery belly. There's a reason it's called a chest mount !

    Hello, sorry for my English. Tomorrow I try that way. Any solution to engine noise? Thanks!

    • @MTBIKEXC
      @MTBIKEXC  6 лет назад

      Sorry no - I have not found a solution to the gimbal motors noise other than using a different external audio recorder. I'm experimenting with using my iPhone to see if I can get wind and motor free noise recorded with it and if I find a mic for it that works, I'll post a video on it. Thanks, Brad

      I haven't tried it. I assume it's unnecessary but it's worth a test to see if it makes it better or worse. When I get some time, I'll give it a try.
