Dude, thank you so much for this. I have watched several videos trying to install Ngnix Proxy Manager and your video is the one that actually was easy to follow and the steps really worked. Liked and subscribed.

@@bigbeartechworld Hey thanks, I haven't watched all your videos yet, so perhaps you already have something like this published. (I'm going to be checking out all your vids soon).
But a video on how exactly to get for example SSL certificates how to make a website on your local network public and secure with SSL so that the browser doesn't give you a warning would be nice.
Also, I have a question for you: I installed Ngnix Proxy Manager on docker following this video, however I also have ProXmox installed. (Docker is inside ProXmox). Would be a better idea to follow your tutorial and install Ngnix Proxy Manager in ProxMox instead?
      Thanks again!

I made a playlist on remote access to your home lab; this might help: ruclips.net/p/PL2RAscIdkpt-n6_Xb0iYrHDqRqUNfHwf0
I answered this on the other video, but I'm putting it here:
Um, I really think it's up to you. I sometimes prefer Proxmox VMs because I can have a static IP for just that service instead of different ports. Also, I've noticed that Docker Containers lately have been having trouble with network-heavy containers, like if you're streaming video to another device. I'm not sure why.
So for my VPNs, I normally install them on a Proxmox VM. I think it's just what you prefer and your use case. I think that they both work well, but they just have negatives and positives both ways. But people prefer all different ways to install things, so I'm trying to cover them all. Thanks, and I will! I'm glad that I can help so many people get into home labs and tech in general.
      Thanks for watching the videos!

@@bigbeartechworld thanks so much, I'll be sure to watch that playlist. This afternoon, however, I managed to get my Homarr to show in https using Ngnix Proxy Manager as per your video and CloudFlare. I'm now worried about exposing internal services to the world, so I have momentarily disabled again until I'm sure of what I'm doing security-wise lol.

@RealAct Well, when you open ports on your router, that's a hole in the firewall, so you can also go with Cloudflare Tunnels or Twingate.
      Cloudflare Tunnel Tutorials:
      ruclips.net/p/PL2RAscIdkpt-y4OWHPhg7a_rPzPiqlM1O
      Twingate Tutorials:

Whenever you are able to get to your home lab from outside your home, there are always negatives and positives.

why all npm settings are reseted to default (including user name and password) after restarting NAS?
Edit: 3:20 you didn't mention to bind volumes inside the host and not inside the docker... ./data and ./letsencrypt definetely will be wiped out after host restarted. Solution: create folders inside your host (e.g. /volume1/Docker/NGINX_proxy/data and /volume1/Docker/NGINX_proxy/letsencrypt/) and bind them in portainer

Hello sir. Could I install both nginx and cloudflare tunnels together? If so which do I install first. Appreciate the reply in advance. Out of all the tutorials I’ve watched on RUclips you make all this very easy to understand.

    • @bigbeartechworld
      @bigbeartechworld  Год назад +1

It should not matter which one you install first. For the Nginx Proxy Manager and port forwarding ways If you don’t have a static IP on your ISP (Internet Service Provider), you would need to go with a dynamic DNS, and I have another tutorial coming out for that. That means a lot. I'm just trying to create tutorials that I would have liked to see on RUclips when I was learning. If you have any suggestions for more videos, please feel free to make them. Hello,
I was looking at your video channel. We may be helping a company that uses secure images to increase supply chain security and help cloud native development. Would you be willing to help try their software, make a video, and help show devs how to use their tools?
This is not an offer, but just to start a conversation about your willingness to take on sponsorship. The video can be from 5 to 10 minutes long.
You'd have a chance to look at their technology and decide if it's the type of software that you'd be interested in covering in your channel. Please provide us with your pricing.

Thank you for reaching out and considering my channel for your software review. I am definitely interested in exploring the technology and assessing whether it aligns with the content I create on my channel.
For a review, I always ensure to provide an honest and comprehensive evaluation, covering all aspects, including the positives, areas for improvement, and any potential challenges. This approach helps my audience get a balanced and trustworthy perspective.
Please let me know more details about the software and the company. Additionally, I would appreciate it if you could provide specific requirements or key points you’d like me to address in the video. Once I have a better understanding, I can provide you with my pricing for a video review ranging from 5 to 10 minutes.
I look forward to your response.
