Recently, I've been getting an interesting resurgence of views on this video, as well as comments from people in the "It's just a game, who cares!?" variety. Well, here's the reason why you SHOULD care about this situation, and how it affects Sim Racing as a whole. Scott Speed isn't just some random racing celebrity who enjoyed using iRacing in his leisure time. He was a Spokesperson for iRacing, someone iRacing essentially HIRED as a consultant to bring RallyCross to the industry. He played a major role in bringing iRacing's RallyCross discipline to the sim... So, with him having his status and also the fact that he is, essentially an iRacing spokesperson, that really does hold him to a higher standard of accountability. He has not just his public image to maintain, but also the image of the company that he has promoted as well... To attack another driver on the service that you are a proud supporter of, and then to turn and attempt to emasculate the other driver, then go on and badmouth the user of the service, and then bad mouth the very own service yourself, that's a big no-no... From a marketing standpoint, it is a PR team's nightmare. Thankfully iRacing got out of it fairly well... (well, at least better than Red Bull GRC!)
People saying this is just a game, who cares, have not understood what iRacing is. People saying that would better stick to offline racing sims or other sims without a subscription. As iRacing is special because it is more than a game, it is a sim community, for people who do not want just a game, but something as close to real racing as possible. And security rating is there for that. If you want to play a destruction Derby game, go elsewhere :)
@@harf4ng all things considered, it is Still. Just. A. Game. Think twice before wanting to incriminate someone for playing a video game in a way you don't want him to. So he punts people off the track. He's not doing it in real life where real harm can occur to driver or vehicle. Banning a professional driver from iRacing, no matter the reason, will only piss people off and make the userbase smaller as a whole. What should have happened is there should have been no ban at all, only show video evidence of this guy's actions in game and let the footage do what the ban won't do.
@@Nobody-xe9fc the goal of SR is to put people driving recklessly to lower categories. And when someone is driving too hard he is banned, because if he is not, that will piss people who want to drive well. And if they do not ban him just because he is a pro driver means there is injustice. Why an unknown driver should be ban and not a pro one? People are paying a subscription to race a sim, not to be pissed of by a reckless driver. If someone wants to drive recklessly, there are plenty of other racing sim to do so, without pissing other people who actually pay to race. I liked iRacing because of the Sr system, because thanks to the Sr system races are cleaner than with other offline racing sims with online features. Also note that if a driver drives recklessly on a private server in another sim, he will be banned the same way. Better ban ONE Racer, even a pro one, than loosing all other racers in the series that do not want to be bumped into by a reckless driver. Also to me iRacing is more than a game. When you race 3 hours for the indy 500, this is more than a game, this is for dedicated Racer who want to have a racing experience the closer to reality as possible. Not playing just a Mario kart :)
@@Nobody-xe9fc you say I shouldn't want to incriminate someone for playing a game in a way I don't want him to, but this is not just ME. He has been banned because he is playing in a way iRacing does not want him to play, as iRacing wants clean, competitive racing, and not just destruction Derby. Letting people drive recklessly means they will loose their player base, the ones that do not want destruction Derby kind of gameplay.
Damn that's crazy, you're 2 years late. Just because you pay an expensive subscription to a game doesn't excuse the shitty behavior from a driver of Speed's status, nor anyone else paying for it... If you have anger issues with the game maybe find a outlet other than taking it out on other drivers within the race.
I know F1 is sometimes quite difficult to understand for new fans, that it is a mechanical sport. It' s not guaranteed the best driver wins, It's the best team, the best mechanics, the team with the most money to spend. Don't use mechanical problems of the car/team against a driver, or you will be laughed at, and nobody will take you seriously. If you want to discredit a driver, stick to the facts, or in your case, because you are still learning the sport, do research and ask a lot of questions!
He was kicked out of F1 because of violance against his team boss, he did some crazy intended crashes in Nascar too and now he is continuing the same stuff in iR. That is not a short time development. That is simply his personality
Pretty much, though this is based on personal bias. I don't even rate him high as a professional at all. Especially considering that people such as Scott Pruett(a cleaner and more experienced driver than Speed can only dream of getting close to emulating) and Robert Kubica exist. Hell, I even favour Solberg and Foust as better drivers in the realms of rallycross in fact!
he was also kicked out because he couldn't keep up the pace, the Ironic silver lining is that his replacement was Sebastian Vettel, and...well we all know what Vettel did for them
Yeah, Scott was a disappointment coming from an American F1 fan. I was hopeful when Rossi was getting seat time but I wish it could’ve been with someone other than Manor. Glad he’s found success in Indy though.
The stuff at the end, speculating about Scott’s personal life and “downward spiral” was out of place in what started out as a fairly decent piece of news reporting.
Todd Bettenhausen I agree, we could have done without the speculating. Also, to reference other past incidents is irrelevant - the protested incident is all we need to know plus he and Steve Myers comments which directly relate. My two cents: if it’s “just a game” why did it get to him so bad? And I’m somebody who took iRacing too seriously for too long. Big thanks to you, Todd, for all the display vids you put up over the years - you helped a lot of people.
I don't think there is anything going on in his life. His response says it all, it is a game to him and he questioned the manhood of the person who reported him in his response which I can't take seriously as an apology, it's a poor attempt at PR. I can understand his feelings towards iRacing as a game, I can imagine why he would consider it a game compared to his real racing experience. Of course the point of iRacing is to try and simulate real life racing including conduct and sportmanship in both on track and off track behaviour. Perhaps his time off will help him to realise that, or not, time will tell.
It's funny to see a guy post about "being a man" who ...... ehhhhh painted his toe nails in victory lane (truck race???) At the time I kinda got what he was doing there, but ...... well..... Let's just say I'd rather file an iRacing protest than paint my toe nails 😃
The "it's just a game" Is a rationalization. You know when people fuck something up and then try to pass it off as unimportant, that's what he did, he knows he fucked up but doesn't admit it.
Obi-Wan Kannabis Because it is a game. Why would someone who races in real life give a shit about a game where a majority of people pretend to be race car drivers?
Speed has had this reputation for quite some time and everyone who has been around iRacing for a number of years has known about it. Thing is, there's never been anyone with video recording software to catch it. Now with the rise in streaming's popularity, it was really just a matter of time.
yep, and there are other iRacing/real world celebs that behave poorly sometimes. Perhaps not as bad as Scott Speed did, but still. it time it will bei nteresting to see who else pops up as a celbrity Bully. #celebrityBully lol < jk
Scott Speed's history: 2007 - booted from Scuderia Toro Rosso for fighting with the team manager. 2008 - disqualified from the ARCA Re/Max season finale at Toledo for intentionally crashing into another competitor. 2010 - Crashes into his own teammate, then released by Red Bull in favor of Brian Vickers; Speed then sues Red Bull. 2016 - Clears himself on a competitor, junks his own car, spends the rest of the event throwing a tantrum (Seattle) Borderline delusional to claim he was "clean as a nun." Scott is mad fast but completely incapable of getting along with people.
I know this video is a month old now, but I'd like to say that I know Scott Speed personally, i am friends with his stepson. I've used his simulation rig before, and he seems pretty open about letting people race on it. I dont have anyway to prove this without personal information, but I think it is plausible that the person racing may not be Scott. I've been to parties at his house where many people have raced. Take my word into consideration, but maybe he has been having bad days. Thanks for reading this if you did. And thank you for trying to be unbiased and look at this from Scott's perspective, you are a cool content creator.
Dylan Montgomery could be, but if so, why wouldn't Scott just explained that? He apologized for it and said he accepted the suspension so I guess it actually was him.
Maybe they should setup those sim rigs to emulate what happens in real life during a crash. Required you to wear a helmet and harness. That would be fun to go upside down in your own living room lol.
Bassmint he sold his sim rig. and said in a facebook post its a game, again...he doesn't care, again the dude is a millionaire and probably not in any debt, this means nothing to him
You enter into the sim racing world knowing that almost everyone involved with it takes it very seriously, you decide to become a spokesperson for that arena, representing not only yourself, but your sponsors, if you then start behaving in a way that is not only against iRacing’s code of conduct, not only against your sports code of conduct, against sportsmanship, and plain decency then want to hide behind “its only a game, not real life”, that’s a serious issue. The checks he cashed were plenty real enough. The fact that he would behave this way routinely, speaks volumes about his character not only as a professional driver but as a person, this is school yard bully behavior, plain and simple. At the point in your career that you agree to represent a business/sponsor/entity, you have an obligation to comport yourself to their standards, particularly within their environment. If you accept a Pepsi sponsorship and then show up to a Pepsi event drinking a coke and wearing a “I’m a Pepper” t-shirt you should not expect to keep your sponsorship, nor should you expect after that for other prospective sponsors to turn a blind eye to your actions. I feel like everything I just typed should be common sense to a reasonable person.
William, I 100% agree with you. I was honestly surprised by this whole thing. Scott has been on the service forever, and I have never heard a bad word until recently. That doesn't excuse it and the suspension was totally warranted, but have to wonder what triggered the change.
While I have not been doing much iRacing recently, Speed and some of his pals have always been abusive on the service. Incidents do not reflect his overall attitude, especially in chat. He is a pro, and most of us are not, he has very little respect for that and has been known to bully others on the track just trying to have a good time and a good race. This is not surprising, and iRacing vets are most def. not surprised.
What fans may not know is that most pro drivers encounter bouts of depression which for athletes is portrayed by aggression and severely narrowed focus for eg...targeting competitors instead of the race event and most never complete their race development in a series once they are not winning.
Not an excuse for driving in the style of the average Forza player. All games have rules, disciplines and conditions relating to wins, losses and acts that run against the rules of the game. Ditto for the "we're all human" excuse. By that mindset, Dennis Nilsen and Ted Bundy are humans. Holding such a meek and naive concept in any situation only enables repeat situations. Scott had EVERY opportunity to hold himself back and act accordingly civil in an environment that usually deals with these acts of recklessness with ample consequence.
Scallie __ I agree because you likely respond differently and I am sure you respect the sport. You must agree some racers believe no one else should be in their field of vision otherwise its kamikaze time...lol
Of course depression is common in motor sports as this depression is no doubt most often directly caused by diet and lifestyle. But in the world of professional sports, right or wrong, there is no tolerance and no excuse and no room for unprofessional behaviour and everyone in sports is aware of this and aware of the proverbial blade that hangs above every participant ready to cut them off if they should do anything that has the potential to harm their sport or brand image in any way.
I thought u wanted to get the spotlight over this but I tell you I was wrong. I'm a Scott fan and you really handled it like a pro. The analysis was really spot. great job
Yeah this is an indication of something bad is going in his life. He damaged his own name and other sponsors will and do take notice. I am sure he is having a rough time in his life for whatever reason but as the saying goes, "Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it"
Amazing how people on the internet have never met this guy, won't ever meet this guy, have no facts on his life whatsoever but still think they can dissect his life and tell you exactly what is going on with him. It's a game. Maybe he was bored and did it for kicks, did you ever think about that? Why on earth this is being discussed as a sign that he is at a low ebb in his life shows just how too seriously people take this shit.
NOT AN EXCUSE FOR BEHAVING LIKE AN UNPROFESSIONAL MORON! Seriously, I don't play iRacing and I fully agree with the sentiments of the mods' decision to suspend him. The fact that he is a spokesperson for the game provides a quantifiable amount of really good reasons for him to act like a professional, and not behave as if he is some twat playing Forza 7's public online lobbies. Also, as for the "it's a game" excuse that some people are foolishly using to misinform people. All games, be it virtual and fictional such as Call of Duty or realistic and fraught with real danger to your health such as Boxing have rules in regards to win conditions, loss conditions and acts that run against the rulebook. By your warped thinking, it is OK for me to use wall hacks on Call of Duty and in addition, use judo moves in a Boxing match. Even if these acts run counter to the rules of both games. Hell, taking something seriously is leagues better than taking nothing seriously. Balance is everything and all that good stuff. We're not anarchists. And in an environment that frowns upon turning your car into an unguided missile, you have to respect that. As for your "Amazing how people on the internet have never met this guy, won't ever meet this guy, have no facts on his life whatsoever but still think they can dissect his life and tell you exactly what is going on with him." comment, humans are predictable. You don't have to know someone personally to get a grasp on how their mental state is. Especially when said person is known for such reckless and idiotic behaviour in real life and on the internet.
"You don't have to know someone personally to get a grasp on how their mental state is." - Oh my God. YES YOU DO!! "Humans are predictable." - If that were true we wouldn't have expected Trump to be President. Oh wait, you voted for Trump. Predictable.
I'm not from the US though(a not-so-proud Limey is a more accurate description, you can check for yourself in my account bio), 'and don't make this an unnecessary political jibe. Also, by your own mindset, criminologists have to be personally connected to the criminal to know them and how they work/operate in any environment(which makes no sense in reality). Hell, there are entire databases in regards to all sorts of mental health illnesses and physical ailments for the both of us to understand how humans operate and behave. Also, on the internet, if someone leaves a good enough trail, people who DON'T know them personally can get a good bead on how they act and work in their lives. Even personal information gets out into the light of the public. But this is irrelevant(sort-of), the point is that a professional in the real world, who is linked to a game to a professional level, has contributed to the game's content and is earning money from said spokespersonship, and got suspended for not acting like a professional because instead, he behaved like an unprofessional clown in a public forum. Considering his off-paddock antics in regards to his firing from Torro Rosso, his retaliatory antics in ARCA, and now, this. I highly doubt that the man is going to change. Old and damaging habits die slowly if they wither at all.
I like when youtube suggestions bring back 2 years old videos! And with the covid19 & real racers having issues with iRacing, this fits perfectly with nowadays.
iRacing isn't that great at punishing aggressive drivers. They're just doing damage control because Scott Speed is a celebrity. Otherwise, they wouldn't care.
cntrygal2007 was that meant to be witty? I've been a member on & off for nearly 10 years btw, you could argue they are too lenient in general but intentional wrecking, if reported will get you suspended
oh thats a load of bullshit, they'll ban you if you so much as say "fuck" and some over-protective parent reports you, keep in mind the replays record the voice server now, so that just makes it easier to get nicked if you curse at someone, all I said was "what the fuck, dude?" because I got cut off by a guy exiting pits and I was doing 150 off the corner and nearly hit him, all i said was "dude, what the fuck, use your relative next time...please"
Everybody has bad days. We don't know if Jake did something to piss him off in the first place either. Pissing someone off who's on a bad day, even if without intention (not enough space during corners, making him go too wide, etc - you don't know what happened in the race, or at least I don't) could lead to a behaviour like that. Sure, it's iracing, you need to control yourself, but if you're even a casual gamer (let alone a "real" one), we've all been there at least once, so we all know that story of "fuck this, it's a game, I don't give a fuck" and proceed to wreak havoc across the track/map. This only blew up because he's a professional driver and a spokesperson for iracing, so he MUST contain that behaviour... but I'm not gonna judge him for that because I understand the frustration that games give sometimes. What I can blame him for, thought, is that poor of an excuse. A bad day and something triggered a "fuck you" event? A simple sorry is enough, no need to attack the damn dude who reported you, especially with a childish insult as an attack on apparent manhood... that's just low.
The actual racing press that has covered this story may not be to good for Scott. I mean, iRacing utilized him to develop GRC (paid or not) and due to that he is essentially "the face" of this genre in the sim racing world. Hell, he may in fact be the face of GRC, but I wouldn't know... I don't watch it. Could a precedent be being set here? I think it's very possible. He is supposed to be a professional driver. We as sim racers at times get opportunities to race these guys. He really should be ashamed (although his actions speak volumes post suspension) so I doubt he actually is. I've never been a fan of his, not a GRC fan at all, but kids..... KIDS are. Kids want to meet this guy, look up to him, BE HIM. It's just sad really.....
SimRig PC27b No company worth it’s name gives two flying fucks about what a championship race car driver does in a pretend car, on a pretend track on the internet lmao
No matter who was at fault in the first incident, you can not ever be allowed to just go on a rampage. With a lot of people its contagious and then they join in, next thing almost all of the participants think its ok to drive like lunatics. They don't seem to care about the guys who practice all week long, only to be taken out in some stupid way. That should not ever be part of racing. Skills should be the only determining factor. whether its engineering skill, steering skills or throttle/brake skill. it should never be about who has the better internet connection (netcode), who has more depression, more money, more sleep, more alcohol, or just more B.S. Excuses. Scott Speed DEserved to be suspended. Kudos to iRacing for not giving him special treatment because of his celebrity status. I have seen other celebrity drivers do some disgusting things, and I did not protest for fear iRacing could well take their side and give me a hard time or something, maybe even kick me?!?!?! Who knew? Now I know iRacing will just do what is right, no matter who it is. iRacing Rules!!!
>It’s just a game Still, dirty driving (crashing others in sim racing games) is pretty unacceptable; people come to actually race each other cleanly but closely!
I raced him a couple of times when I was racing Mazda Mx5, I think what was all the way back in 2011. He was aggressive then too. In fact, one time I was going to pass him and he flat out squeezed me out of the track and onto the gravel. I haven't raced in years, and frankly not surprised to see this. But this is just flat out stupid, even for ss.
Speed, even way back in his F1 days had a cocky attitude. I still remember a brief conversation with ITV Sport just before his first race. He kinda suggested that he'd be the new Shuie and shake the sport up so-to-speak. We all know how that turned out over his brief career but ofc, that was entirely the teams/car's fault. Every race. 🙄 The fact he is, if anything even worse now is sad. Not to mention that one would have imagined he would have atleast gotten wiser over the years. That said, I suppose anyone that changes their sirname to "Speed" (ironic considering his F1 history), has to be a bit of egotistical tool. That would be like a bank manager changing his surname to "money". People will rightfully assume you're a bit of a twat, lol.
I wonder how much he invested in his sim rig. Considering he sold it for over $7,000. Also, going back to average incident points per race, I think it's quite normal to have a higher number in that category on the road side considering the more opportunities to get off track 1x's. During long races, those would definitely add up. Especially at tracks like Spa or Imola.
This is largely estimation of the value Heusinkveld Sim Rig GT - $1,700 Additional 80/20 for Shifter/Handbrake mount - $75 Seat - $500? Open Sim Wheel - $1,000 Custom Steering Wheel Rim - $800? Manu-Factory Sequential Shifter - $400 Heusinkveld Engineering Handbrake - $250 Heusinkveld Engineering Sim Pedals Ultimate - $1560 Don't have any specs on PC, so I'll estimate on what would power triples, based off of my system (I have the same case, at least). For a system like that (not adjusted for Bitcoin inflation), I'd estimate around $1,700. Triple 27" gaming monitors: $600? So, my rough estimate on the Sim Rig setup, would be around $8,475 (based off of the numbers I listed). Add in the cost of wires, included software, the fact that it's all pre-configured, and I could totally see how he would be justified asking $7,500 for the setup.
Sim Racing Paddock I would agree with Shaun Cole on the fact that he was being an asshole about getting banned and he pretty much pulled the "screw you guys, I'm going home" when he sold his whole rig. I know he's salty about being banned, but he brought it upon himself. Maybe this will be a hard lesson for him to learn that he should always take sim racing seriously. That's if there isn't anything going on in his personal life right now...
ArdaBlock Nah; there's already enough wreckers in that game, we don't need anymore of them. He should've vented his anger in Beam.NG Drive. Shockingly enough; there's actually a community in Forza that actually tries to race clean, with respect, and with no assists. I'm in that minority in Forza.
Im about ready to give up online forza for a while im trying to become smoother and faster against actual people and learn what i can from different vehicles and driving styles and then bam...demo derby dumbsh!ts everywhere
Savoury Lobster Yeah, true. It's still better than Need for Speed 2015 physics though. At least the cars don't go into drifts every time you turn the car; like in Need for Speed 2015. Also Forza Motorsport 7 is a simcade, so It's no surprise that It doesn't have iRacing like physics.
One of the things my mother always said when I was growing up... if you'd had a bad day at school / work / life, whatever, that's no excuse to take it out on other people. In doing so, you potentially diminish someone else's quality of life or enjoyment. I get that Scott *may* have been going through a difficult time IRL, but perhaps if that was the case he should've jumped onto Need For Speed or something without an online counterpart. All for a publicity stunt? Hmm.
Pretty much no one uses iRacing as a professional training tool, cause it is too unrealistic. Nearly every team is using rFactor Pro. What you see in iRacing is them driving for fun in their freetime, because they love racing in general and iRacing gives them the chance to race 24/7 (+-).
um yes iracing is shit rfactor 1 has superior physics, rfactor 2 has god-like physics relatively speaking and RFpro......well i havn't quite reached a deal with the devs for me to own a copy......
I have seen that F1 drivers use iRacing, but, there are two or three sims that are used by pro drivers, iRacing being one of them. It's also the most costly of the options and has few members, making it very 'elitist' and professional. I also heard that it's an Esport (along with many other sims).
You had mentioned that you suspected personal issues may be playing a role in Scott's outbursts. I'm pretty heavily into RC racing, and can tell you that Scott co-owns a nationally recognized RC track that pulls in major names from around the country. Sometime in the past few months he found out that his landlord would not be renewing his lease and that after quickly building up one of the nicest clay tracks in the country, it would have to be moved and switched over to carpet. Taking a financial and personal hit like that could totally explain the stress displayed on the sim.
I've raced against Scott in hosted races many times. He usually gets pissed at someone and wrecks out. I never race in races with him anymore. He's been like this for years.
Apart from the "fun" series there are hosted events, last pricing I remember is that you pay $1 USD to rent an iRacing server for one hour. What you do there then is your own call. Outside of iRacing, I don't really know of any demolition derby simulator. Wreckfest is a demolition derby sort of game, but I believe it's not multiplayer, and at any rate the physics involved are simplified compared to iRacing.
I keep seeing this over and over and over and over again and they banned him for this shit? If anything he should get a pass because he was obviously pissed that this moron pitted him and did not stop at all which is what you are supposed to do when you take someone out
1:20 this guy turns his wheel right and into the left corner panel of speeds car so how is this aggressive racing on speeds end this makes no sense
6 лет назад
3:52 You get 1 incident point for exceeding track limits? How is this fair when you accidentally under brake into corner and have to drive to grass or gravel?
6 лет назад
I meant when you make a mistake when braking and go wide, you get one incident point.
Well I guess this explains his real life career path..... And having never driven professionally, I still feel that I can type the above comment with confidence.
Had he had any head impacts that resulted in concussion? If so that absolutely can change behavior overnight. Anger and impulsiveness is common with concussions.
On one of the last tables you show (last ten races) Scott has 0 Inc' on both races. The 13 Inc' you highlighted is on the drivers above !!!??? or have i read it wrong?
The "Last Ten Races" Chart shows the last ten races the driver has taken part in. Each entry is a separate OFFICIAL race that Scott Speed took part in.
Been a sub to iRacing for many, many years. I've been as good as top split back in the day, so I know about how serious this can be. But if these are just pick up games, reporting this is a waste of time. The only real serious part of this service is the major events and/or the major series. If you take the pickups this serious, chill.
The moment when ACTUAL money and sponsors are involved, things start to be taken to a level of seriousness that you will not like. Because when the money starts talking, you can't relax.
none of the GRC events as of right now are serious, and actual money? sponsors? this isnt the DWC or the NPAS, there's no sponsors involved in the lower pick-up series chill
also iRacing is partially owned by John Henry still, the guy that owns the Boston Fucking Red Sox, I think they are doing fine, they also have connections to Roush-Fenway racing which is doi- oh no.....................oh no
I'm just curious cause it came out recently the Red Bull GRC was ceasing it's operations if that didn't have an impact on it. IE when your inside an organisation you sometimes find out thing before the average person. Did he know about this back when these incidents where happening that there might be trouble and then due to that after finally finding a series that he could be successful in, and now having to decide do I uproot my family again and move them back to Europe to try a different Rallycross series or do I just give up. This may have been what cause his change in his driving style on sim racing.
How was Scott even upset at anyone but himself in the original Porsche/Nurburgring incident?! His car was clearly drifting left and he was crowding the guy in 2nd place, when he should have been drifting to the right to set his car up for the Schumacher esses. He was pinching 2nd place and not driving at all defensively. The contact shouldn't be any surprise and he only has himself to blame.
I think you should compare his SR stats to other drivers with a similar win/top5 rate, since he IS a fast iracing driver, and driving in one of the first positions saves you from taking part in most of the wreck fests that happen in the first turns after the start.
I can tell you from watching the clips here Jake went off track and came back on twice. If someone went off track and came back on hitting me or nearly hitting me, as happened in the first 2 clips, i would be pissed too. experienced drivers back off after making a mistake. In the real world when there is no reset button, you dont endanger others by coming back onto track in the path of another driver. you want to make a case, stay on the damn track.
from the original incident clip, it looked like Jake Hewlett moved over into Scott as he was coming off the curb. Of course, I could be wrong...However, I do understand Scott was mad at Jake as it just seems that he felt Jake wrecked him supposedly on purpose when he didn't intentionally; but, Scott should have never tried to retaliate...he should have been a man to talk to Jake personally after the race to work it out
I was watching this race, on Jake's stream. I saw it all go down. The initial contact was one driver not moving to the right (which is the normal driving line) and Jake making the mistake that Speed was moving as he anticipated. At worst it was unintentional contact by Jake. But what happened after is insane, Speed went full rampage, trying very hard to wreck Jake. I do not want to beat down on Speed, he is in trouble with iRacing and his employers. But this type of behavior is no surprise to those who observe Speed. I do wish to grant the man some slack, but he did not have a bad day or week, this is his typical behavior. He is selfish, self-centered, immature, and lacks any anger control.
Ah, not sure if you just noticed the title or what. But honestly I laughed my ass off. I race hard and aggressive but clean. Mostly what all of us dirt racers do. But what Speed did was pretty severe.
I don't play iracing and I'm not very familiar with it but what if you get hit into another car? Do you still get the 4 points towards being a reckless driver?
I don't understand why it's "surprising" that his average incident count is low. The dude can drive. If he decides to drive a clean race, he can easily race several without any incidents pretty much. But then something goes wrong (maybe only in a small fraction of the races he does) and he sees red mist and retaliates. Absolutely nothing surprising about this.
@@RingoYote Trash talked everyone in F1, awful perfomance in all categories, if you have to depend from a racing game to have good reputation you seriously need to rethink about your actitude and way of driving
Scott Speed had money to start off his career Not everyone can race in leagues on race tracks from daddy’s money like some drivers, meaning that they don’t have a chance to race in a Motorsports platform they love
JimmyFreeman all of the iRacing users went way overboard with their witch hunt, they were trying as hard as possible to publicly humiliate Scott. The first wreck was Jake Hewlett’s fault anyway. Maybe Scott would’ve been okay if Jake said sorry, but no, Jake immediately puts his head back down and keeps driving as if it never happened. He doesn’t care. What a jerk.
I did hear that Scott's beloved Horse Whiskey pass away about the same time as these incidents maybe it was this that triggered him off ...., Grief is a weird emotion ... Not making excuses for him or anything
If you are in this situation what you want to do is slow down, that way when he tries to clip you you wont spin out and he will lose traction and spin out. If you want to make him pay you can slow down so he is in range to pit and bait him. When he goes for it brake hard, and push in the opposite direction on his rear, he will spin out and flip over. If you are a racer not a fighter the very best thing to do, especially in large races is to let more aggressive drivers pass you. You can typically overtake them with precision as they slowly try to bully their way up the line. Watch your speed, and let your car naturally overtake them as they focus on overtaking someone else impatiently. My race record in 56W-183L (~30% W:L) im not the best i place about 80% of the time.
Work! Work! Work! Then drive in front of the man you all despise! Racing, questionably a lifestyle and not only a sport, has some bumps along the way. How you manage those bumps WILL define you. If your limits have reached the pinnacle of blaming your failures on the personality of another then so be it. If your ready to rise above the quagmire of average then work. And work some more. Work and you will drive ahead of this man and his problems...
You may want to check this out....ruclips.net/video/ALaybkkS0mg/видео.html I live a mile from Toledo speedway & was at this race & watched scott lose his mind & damn near kill stenhouse both of whom were racing for a championship. Now mind you stenhouse started it by the initial contact but the way speed handled it was, well less than professional. This doesn't come as a surprise whatsoever to those that have known scott for years. I feel bad for the guy but on the other hand kudos to iracing for treating him like any other member, you break the code of conduct you should be suspended.
+Hardcore El mas que la monta there was a video he posted on his Facebook of his daughter driving a Legends car around Lanier, but I find it unlikely she would have wrecked them, considering she's a toddler! I think his reaction to the suspension and everything is more telling that it was, in fact, him.
I drove in Iracing a couple of weeks, but I hated the paying system, I almost pay 10 euros a month and still have to pay like 15 euros per car or track. Ridiculous
If you look at the record its as if another player/kid even, was playing at the time. after all it is a game and anyone that sees a sim wants a go. A suspension without any investigation it seems, is ridiculous.
to be fair I think many of us would have been frustrated by the original incident. wasnt cool to retaliate in the way he did but at the end of the day it's just one virtual race. nobody was hurt, nothing was damaged, so in my opinion this just unfortunate for him that a story came out of this. I get that the guy has an extra obligation to not behave that way because of his status. but ask yourself; have you ever gotten a bit too frustrated over a similar incident? or any virtual game for that matter. I know I have
Scott must be upset about his F1 and NASCAR attempt fails...Now he's in GRC? Maybe he's just slightly better than mediocre and has be unable to improve? Well, I honestly don't know... It's sounds frustrating to have gotten to the top road and oval series in the world and have performed poorly in them, I guess. He definitely should know better than to behave that way iRacing. This is a 35-year-old man we're talking about...
This is why I quit SIM racing. To many rules, people who take it WAY to seriously. If you get wrecked, you're not hurt, and you don't have to come up with money to fix your car. It is just a video game. My favorite iracing video, is the one with Tony Stewart telling guys to shut up and stop pretending that they are pros. Laughed my ads off!
It's a freaking game, guys. Just because he had two races with more than 4 points does NOT mean something is going on in his life. Again, it's just a game.
yyuuppp everyone just seems to be ignoring this, his driving record clearly shows that he's not consistently aggressive so ban him anyway because reasons. I know how he feels though. i got perma banned from some forums for asking a guy how much he paid for his account (he clearly bought his account). Meanwhile a thread was made yesterday and EVERYONE is asking this guy how much he paid for his account because everyone has known for years that he bought the account. Do you think they got punished? Their excuse was that I harassed this person when the definition of harass means to constantly abuse or bug someone and this was the first time I have ever talked to this person who obviously bought his account.
Matej Mihelec the thing is (from my experience) you force them off a bit when they get a great run. The streamer didn't. And I have to hark back to tiametmarduk and one of his races. He turned ever so slightly, and the physics went very sensitive and spun him out. That's what happened here.
IMHO this is not about how serious you take sim / game racing. It is about how much respect you have for those around you when you are on the virtual race track. Or lack there of. IMHO.
This is no surprise , all real world & in sim Pro Drivers are held to a bit higher standard. Funny thing is nothing happened to Tony Stewart & his viral video swearing on the mic. All comes down to who You are racing & how willing they are to protest. I guess on the good side it affirms that the protest system does in fact work.
It's still just a game tho. Checkmate
"It's only a game, it's not real life" -Speed
...Then why are you getting mad about it?
ikr, just stick to real racing and stop fucking with those less fortunate.
Have you ever played a game ever?
Because you pay a phuck tonne of money to play the game.
@@viserion4764 it's just a game
the thing with iracing is that the computer is always really close to the beer fridge.
Man this comment made my day, 🤣
Ha the bong is even closer
I was thinking the same darn thing lol... Or a bottle of Jack in his cup holder hehe.
His former f1 teamboss, gehard berger, called him the dumbest driver he knows.
Tolyngee altough you're right, still a pattern is visible
I know F1 is sometimes quite difficult to understand for new fans, that it is a mechanical sport. It' s not guaranteed the best driver wins, It's the best team, the best mechanics, the team with the most money to spend. Don't use mechanical problems of the car/team against a driver, or you will be laughed at, and nobody will take you seriously. If you want to discredit a driver, stick to the facts, or in your case, because you are still learning the sport, do research and ask a lot of questions!
In hindsight I think Ericsson is to blame.
+LUN4T1C Isn't he always?
My mrs says that to me aswell
My hope was on Conor Daly but...eh...he went to Indy
If I got the opportunity to race in NASCAR I would do everything I could to make sure I one day retired from it. Not screw it up by being violent!
Todd is hurt emotionally. sad.
I agree.
I agree with Scott tho. If someone takes me out on a Sim race I will be sure to take them out...even if it means waiting a lap or so XD
Yeah fuck the dude who made this video
I don't think there is anything going on in his life. His response says it all, it is a game to him and he questioned the manhood of the person who reported him in his response which I can't take seriously as an apology, it's a poor attempt at PR. I can understand his feelings towards iRacing as a game, I can imagine why he would consider it a game compared to his real racing experience. Of course the point of iRacing is to try and simulate real life racing including conduct and sportmanship in both on track and off track behaviour. Perhaps his time off will help him to realise that, or not, time will tell.
Civic He sold his entire rig. He wont be back.
It's funny to see a guy post about "being a man" who ...... ehhhhh painted his toe nails in victory lane (truck race???)
At the time I kinda got what he was doing there, but ......
Why would someone who races in real life give a shit about a game where a majority of people pretend to be race car drivers?
idk cuz he actually got paid to develop said title
Scott Speed went full on Forza on that Jake guy LMAO I've been looking for that footage for about a week
Devon Eaker that's the sort of stuff you see on F1 2017 random lobbies haha
If you look closely, you can see him hooting an Uzi out the side window
Speed has had this reputation for quite some time and everyone who has been around iRacing for a number of years has known about it. Thing is, there's never been anyone with video recording software to catch it. Now with the rise in streaming's popularity, it was really just a matter of time.
yep, and there are other iRacing/real world celebs that behave poorly sometimes. Perhaps not as bad as Scott Speed did, but still. it time it will bei nteresting to see who else pops up as a celbrity Bully. #celebrityBully lol < jk
Bring PRC Back! Look at how much content you're missing out!
Austin Ogonoski i call bullshit. You ever seen his race history?
Dude was as clean as a nun if he were battled fair by al those wannabe's
You are talking out your ass. You could save iRacing replay video from day one. Audio is more recent but you are obviously making up your credentials.
Scott Speed's history:
2007 - booted from Scuderia Toro Rosso for fighting with the team manager.
2008 - disqualified from the ARCA Re/Max season finale at Toledo for intentionally crashing into another competitor.
2010 - Crashes into his own teammate, then released by Red Bull in favor of Brian Vickers; Speed then sues Red Bull.
2016 - Clears himself on a competitor, junks his own car, spends the rest of the event throwing a tantrum (Seattle)
Borderline delusional to claim he was "clean as a nun." Scott is mad fast but completely incapable of getting along with people.
That’s against the terms of service as well.
I dont think the guy like Scott do it 🤔
@@akacaleb Where?
NtsParadize in the terms of service
If it's just a game to him why the fuck did he get so mad then?
Tim Rogers Exactly.
He nearly killed that guy! Unacceptable!
'Nearly killed that guy'? Really? It's a game, no one is getting hurt in any physical way. You need to calm down and slowly step back in to reality.
Hahaha
JK30 wow.......so we know you're stupid....joke anyone?
JK30 sarcasm
Maybe they should setup those sim rigs to emulate what happens in real life during a crash. Required you to wear a helmet and harness. That would be fun to go upside down in your own living room lol.
"Redeem himself" lmao as if he cares.
Óðinndragon this, the dudes a fucking millionaire, he doesnt give a fuck
Kiboe it’s also a fucking game
He clearly cared if he got so mad about it
Bassmint he sold his sim rig. and said in a facebook post its a game, again...he doesn't care, again the dude is a millionaire and probably not in any debt, this means nothing to him
M.r. Moon well...most millionaires lack self-awareness...just sayin
"It's only a game" is totally NOT an excuse for such behavior. I wonder how those people play darts or bowling or chess.
He didn't even apologize to Jake. He apologized for not treating iRacing with respect.
Scott had EVERY opportunity to hold himself back and act accordingly civil in an environment that usually deals with these acts of recklessness with ample consequence.
gasixteenb11 lol I struggle with depression, but you won't find me playing bumper cars on the track.
But in the world of professional sports, right or wrong, there is no tolerance and no excuse and no room for unprofessional behaviour and everyone in sports is aware of this and aware of the proverbial blade that hangs above every participant ready to cut them off if they should do anything that has the potential to harm their sport or brand image in any way.
gasixteenb11 dude All people deal with depression.
I thought u wanted to get the spotlight over this but I tell you I was wrong. I'm a Scott fan and you really handled it like a pro. The analysis was really spot. great job
This is why we need the iBreathalyzer hardware. Clearly the honor system has been hacked.
JK30 lol you obviously never took basic psychology in UNI mate lmfao. Stop talking about things you are not educated on.
Even if it just a game, deliberately taking out other drivers is unsportsmanlike behavior. So the suspension was justified.
I like when youtube suggestions bring back 2 years old videos! And with the covid19 & real racers having issues with iRacing, this fits perfectly with nowadays.
iRacing isn't that great at punishing aggressive drivers. They're just doing damage control because Scott Speed is a celebrity. Otherwise, they wouldn't care.
cntrygal2007 Bullshit, if you get caught intentionally wrecking you will be suspended, end of story.
+Shaltan My comment was posted 4 days ago. Do try to keep current, please. Also, you clearly don't use iRacing.
cntrygal2007 was that meant to be witty?
+Kiboe Been using iRacing for YEARS and they've NEVER done ANYTHING about aggressive drivers!
SimRig PC27b He's somewhat the face of GRC, but I'd still say Tanner Foust is the true face of GRC.
SimRig PC27b it’s also a fucking game
TheAngryDipper Yes, and your point with that is....... ?
SimRig PC27b my point is it’s not that real bro
Once time a nascar race diver said; "learn how to crash the others without crashing yourself"
If I remember correctly it was Landon Cassill, after Danica attempted to wreck him, but wrecked herself instead.
>It’s just a game
Still, dirty driving (crashing others in sim racing games) is pretty unacceptable; people come to actually race each other cleanly but closely!
And it's a very expensive "game" so it's even more unacceptable
Every race. 🙄
The fact he is, if anything even worse now is sad. Not to mention that one would have imagined he would have atleast gotten wiser over the years.
That said, I suppose anyone that changes their sirname to "Speed" (ironic considering his F1 history), has to be a bit of egotistical tool. That would be like a bank manager changing his surname to "money". People will rightfully assume you're a bit of a twat, lol.
theres also a video of him talking to I think Jarno Truli and he said "Last night, I had a Boner about this big"
He didn't change his name to "Speed". That's his real name.
Scott "I was shit in f1" Speed
I wonder how much he invested in his sim rig. Considering he sold it for over $7,000.
Also, going back to average incident points per race, I think it's quite normal to have a higher number in that category on the road side considering the more opportunities to get off track 1x's. During long races, those would definitely add up. Especially at tracks like Spa or Imola.
This is largely estimation of the value
Heusinkveld Sim Rig GT - $1,700
Additional 80/20 for Shifter/Handbrake mount - $75
Seat - $500?
Open Sim Wheel - $1,000
Custom Steering Wheel Rim - $800?
Manu-Factory Sequential Shifter - $400
Heusinkveld Engineering Handbrake - $250
Heusinkveld Engineering Sim Pedals Ultimate - $1560
Don't have any specs on PC, so I'll estimate on what would power triples, based off of my system (I have the same case, at least).
That's if there isn't anything going on in his personal life right now...
should've vented in Forza lol
ArdaBlock Nah; there's already enough wreckers in that game, we don't need anymore of them. He should've vented his anger in Beam.NG Drive. Shockingly enough; there's actually a community in Forza that actually tries to race clean, with respect, and with no assists. I'm in that minority in Forza.
Im about ready to give up online forza for a while im trying to become smoother and faster against actual people and learn what i can from different vehicles and driving styles and then bam...demo derby dumbsh!ts everywhere
Boostilia BJH L lol their physics are still pretty atrocious no matter what settings and assists you have.
Yeah he should've taken ur out on some other game
If only that "driving for fun" came at no real life cost, eh?
when you're making as much money as they do, iRacing is pocket change
Btw. here WEC Champion Nicki Thiim about iRacing in March 2018: v=9-W6fA7bumQ - the tire model is basically bullshit
um yes
iracing is shit
rfactor 1 has superior physics, rfactor 2 has god-like physics relatively speaking and RFpro......well i havn't quite reached a deal with the devs for me to own a copy......
He's been like this for years.
scott went "fulll xbox live mode"
Awesome video, great commentating. Keep it up @Sim Racing Paddock
Actions speak louder than words!
Is there any sim racing events where people can purposely drive aggressive and take each other out just for fun. Or even a sim demolition derby?
Yeah, its called Carb Cup, no points, no incident points and no yellows, its a wreck fest but it's fun as fuck
Kiboe Right on
Apart from the "fun" series there are hosted events, last pricing I remember is that you pay $1 USD to rent an iRacing server for one hour. What you do there then is your own call.
Outside of iRacing, I don't really know of any demolition derby simulator. Wreckfest is a demolition derby sort of game, but I believe it's not multiplayer, and at any rate the physics involved are simplified compared to iRacing.
What I love about iRacing is the rules and possibility of being banned. Keeps out the trolls.
miss u dog
am I the only person hear that sees speed get spun out on he courner and doesn't blame speed for that? how did the other guy not get anything for that
I keep seeing this over and over and over and over again and they banned him for this shit?
If anything he should get a pass because he was obviously pissed that this moron pitted him and did not stop at all which is what you are supposed to do when you take someone out
He is a bit crazy in global rally cross he does act a bit bitter when dont win
@SRP, your stated that his stats don't display this behavior. The first thing I thought is what if his account got hacked?
What track are you playing on?
1:20 this guy turns his wheel right and into the left corner panel of speeds car so how is this aggressive racing on speeds end this makes no sense
3:52 You get 1 incident point for exceeding track limits? How is this fair when you accidentally under brake into corner and have to drive to grass or gravel?
I meant when you make a mistake when braking and go wide, you get one incident point.
Well I guess this explains his real life career path.....
And having never driven professionally, I still feel that I can type the above comment with confidence.
What if someone else was racing on his account? Like a bud, or fellow bro?
Got recommended this video after kyle larson episode
Hey Scott how much ya want for you sim racing rig?
Unrelated question: what steering wheel are you using in the clips?
nvm i read the description...
Because when the money starts talking, you can't relax.
none of the GRC events as of right now are serious, and actual money? sponsors? this isnt the DWC or the NPAS, there's no sponsors involved in the lower pick-up series
chill
also iRacing is partially owned by John Henry still, the guy that owns the Boston Fucking Red Sox, I think they are doing fine, they also have connections to Roush-Fenway racing which is doi- oh no.....................oh no
Both 13 incident point races were in the Porsche cup.. does this mean anything?
Scott Speed has participated in an IndyCar iRacing event in the last month, so he is at least racing in private events.
The first clip of retaliation there was no contact the person recording overdrove the corner and spun out
I think you should compare his SR stats to other drivers with a similar win/top5 rate, since he IS a fast iracing driver, and driving in one of the first positions saves you from taking part in most of the wreck fests that happen in the first turns after the start.
Damn he got a stricter punishment than Vettel for real life road rage.
@2.35 that’s a picture of Tanner Foust....
Did you intentionally put the Scott Speed "Training" video in there, or do you know that it's a parody/meme?
I put the video in there because it's a video that was a compilation of his reckless driving.
Johnny Waffles yes. Wether its your fault or not, you get the 4x.
Mat Henry Thank you
Yeah, if you hit a car is a 4x contact and an additional 4x if that car wrecks, the system assumes you wrecked them so it punishes you accordingly
Dude seems like he’s mad he doesn’t have the “talent” he thought he did
Matt White ummm what?? you could only dream of having half his talent.
he's the sitting GRC champion, has starts in F1, IndyCar and NASCAR, what have you done with your life?
yep lol. just cause you are good in real life racing dont mean you gonna come up in a simulator and just wear everyone out on the track
@@RingoYote Trash talked everyone in F1, awful perfomance in all categories, if you have to depend from a racing game to have good reputation you seriously need to rethink about your actitude and way of driving
Scott Speed had money to start off his career
Not everyone can race in leagues on race tracks from daddy’s money like some drivers, meaning that they don’t have a chance to race in a Motorsports platform they love
What video game is this?
This is hilarious. It's a game.
lol you'd think he punched his mum in the face the way this vids done hahaha
MikeDrop yeah this is a little over the top.
Do you play iRacing?
CrzBonKerz21 Yea it's a pretty good game
Where was the guy on the right going ?
You may want to check this out....ruclips.net/video/ALaybkkS0mg/видео.html
I live a mile from Toledo speedway & was at this race & watched scott lose his mind & damn near kill stenhouse both of whom were racing for a championship.
Is there a chance scoot let someone close to him driver on his account ??
+Hardcore El mas que la monta there was a video he posted on his Facebook of his daughter driving a Legends car around Lanier, but I find it unlikely she would have wrecked them, considering she's a toddler! I think his reaction to the suspension and everything is more telling that it was, in fact, him.
Even if he did, the owner of the account will always be the one responsible for incidents caused by that account.
Wait so what if your a bad driver and you keep driving off the track
was it him actually racing, or was someone else using his account.
Not on Scott's side, but the stream guy took him out for no reason, on a straight. I would be pissed too.
yyuuppp everyone just seems to be ignoring this, his driving record clearly shows that he's not consistently aggressive so ban him anyway because reasons.
I agree that the physics went haywire but the accident was still caused by 2 cars colliding which could have been avoided
Wow, I can’t believe he did that.
Well this didn't age well for Kyle Larson
IMHO this is not about how serious you take sim / game racing. It is about how much respect you have for those around you when you are on the virtual race track. Or lack there of. IMHO.
I don't know any other details than what's in this video, but maybe it was a friend or relative driving the car those times.
This is no surprise , all real world & in sim Pro Drivers are held to a bit higher standard. Funny thing is nothing happened to Tony Stewart & his viral video swearing on the mic. All comes down to who You are racing & how willing they are to protest. I guess on the good side it affirms that the protest system does in fact work.
yo, this is just a game tho. do you pay a membership or something?
yeah, its like 13 bucks a month
thats fucking gay
@@norecordingsoftware3309 eh i just got a 2 year sub for like 100 bucks so that's $4.20 a month which is pretty cheap.
so is he still suspended or did he go to anger management?
F1 championship edition on ps3 I always had fun with Scott speed with crashing
The shoot across the screen was awesome! That made me laugh
I don’t think this was something to do with IRL things... take a look at Atlantic City GRC race irl last year....
