  • Hi all! Welcome to another fluid art big bloom blowout video! For this southwest color palette, I kept thinking about turquoise gemstones, and the wide variety of blues and corals colors they come in. Of course, turquoise paired with shades of gold can't be beat, so I thought I would try to incorporate all the different shades of turquoise into a painting. This painting as really grown on me since my video comments, and I love the colors together so much that I may have to explore this particular color palette again! This one really glows off the wall!! This is part 4 of a series using Southwest colors, so more to come! Let me know your opinion in the comments, and thanks for watching! P.S. If you're looking for the supplies I use, check out my Amazon shop--the link is below!

    THE RECIPE:
House Paint-base aka puddle for the substrate: PPG MultiPro in Satin from Home Depot.
Pouring Medium aka PM Recipe: mix with all colors EXCEPT the cell activator:
Behr 8300 Untinted Deep Base Paint (Home Depot); and Valspar High Gloss Ultra Base C Untinted base (Lowe's). 50/50. Mix well. NO varnish added!
Use the colors and brands of your choice! These tutorials are meant to educate and inspire! Here's how to mix:
Pigments: For a 3 oz cup I add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of pigment powder to the cup, then add enough gloss varnish (any brand; I use JoSonja gloss varnish) to cover the powder. Mix well until all pigment is thoroughly wet; then add the pouring medium.
Any brand fluid or high flow acrylics: I put about 2-2 1/2 ounces of the pouring medium into a 3 ounce cup, then squirt in color until I reach my desired shade. Mix well.
For tube paint (medium or heavy body paint), I added an 1/2 ounce of paint (1/2 teaspoon) to a 3 ounce cup, then added 2 ounces of pouring medium. If still thick I add a squirt of Golden's High Flow Medium (thins and extends acrylic colors) OR water, and stir well. All pigments are 1/8th tsp. pre-disbursed with a small amount of JoSonja Varnish to wet it (stir really well), then add into a 3 oz. cup of Pouring Medium; stir well.
Cell Activator/Color: Australian Floetrol + Amsterdam Greenish Blue, plus a little bit of Amsterdam's Prussian Blue, 2.5 -1 ratio Australian Floetrol to paint.

I’m trying to duplicate your color palette because your color palettes are simply amazing! You mentioned your “turquoise” mixture being a combination of teal and Tri-Art Cobalt Turquoise Light. I’m having a difficult time finding that brand of Cobalt Turquoise Light. Could it have been another brand? Also, there are so many variations of teal. Do you recall which brand/specific color you used?
