- ◆JR WEST collaborated with Hello Kitty and decorated the 500 series Shinkansen in a cute way.
Hello Kitty Shinkansen went into service in June 2018 and it runs between Shin-Osaka and Hakata as Kodama.

Fun Fact: Before Hello Kitty, this 500 series Shinkansen has collaborated with Evangelion.
And the Japanese voice actor for Kitty and for Rei Ayanami in Evangelion are the same person!
I've just watched a video of that version of the series 500 Shinkansen. Very cool indeed!
I hope the driver didn't have to work submerged in LCL fluid... ;-)
I got the chance to ride in that train when it was running the Evangelion livery. It's kinda fun and nostalgic seeing how the layout is exactly the same, even the toy Shinkansen controls at car 8! I mean, even the departure times are exactly the same!
I rode that jr 500 eva before. Man that was cool. It even had simulation room in front. And the depart/arrival chime was adapted from eva's cruel angel thesis.
Nice to know this. Thanks for sharing!
So sweet, as I am watching this video, I am half expecting a real life size person in Hello Kitty costume to walk right into the carriage. 😻
The world's most advanced, state of the art train system... and cover it in Hello Kitty. Got to love Japan.
I was just thinking that.
The funniest was the Hello Kitty smoking room, and of course, the toilet.
Wait until you realized EVA Air also slapped a few Hello Kittes on top of their airplanes and send those flying back and forth from Taipei to Tokyo before the pandemic. lol
Wait, I think they've managed to secure a whole fleet of Sanrio characters.
But it's so cuteee! :3
Greatest Passenger rail system in the world
There is also a Hello Kitty airport express runs between Kansai Airport and Kyoto (and further beyond)
You know it's Japan when you find "Cute" and "Bullet train" in the same sentence.
Whether or not it is decorated in Hello Kitty, the 500 series is definitely the most beautiful train of Japan.
Yet another reason to admire the Japanese people. Mixing high tech with fun.. I so adore Japan and its people.
I am in my early 40's and British and I am of the view that this particular train rocks. Looks fantastic and has a great sense of fun about it too. Awesome and I would travel on it if the chance arose.
On one side, Japan is like MUJI. It's minimalistic and serene like a temple in Kyoto. But on the other side, Japan is like Harajuku, Hello-kitty, kawaii-kei. The two sides are SO different!!!
and yet they blend well together.
Pink color is cool...

I just realized I've been watching Kuga's Travel and DancingBacons all day and I think I definitely have a thing for travel/food videos with no talking and all text explanations and descriptions. I love it. So calming but entertaining. 👌👌
Check out Rambalac's channel, he does walking tours throughout Japan. Most of the videos are pretty long though.
When I was traveling in 2019 through Japan, i rode with this Hello Kitty Shinkansen on the trip to Hakata. The trip with this Train was not planned, so I was all the more surprised when this composition arrived at the train station. I was very happy to be traveling with such this special model, it was a great experience.
Thank you Kuga to share your travel experiences, i have a lot of fun to watch the movies
Oh my God I can’t even tell you how much this video just made my day. Having a really tough day at work and I get a notification that this just posted. Totally made me smile thank you so so so much
I've really been feeling down lately. I came across your channel today and it's so worth it. I've traveled around Japan from the comfort of my bed! Thank you, truly! It actually brightened my day. I look forward to many more of your travels!
I had no idea that there was a Hello Kitty bullet-train in Japan. I definitely have to go on it if I ever manage to go to Japan. I love Hello Kitty lol
there is a plane too.
@@swaco11 really? That's something I'll definitely have to look into lol. Thanks for letting me know
@@lilyquinn1711 haha okay, Is with Eva air. Flights from/to Taiwan
This train sure has the "Hello Kitty" theme everywhere. Here in Germany we don't have special themed trains decorated on the inside. Every special train is decorated on the outside only... What I like the most about the Japanese train system? They're almost always on time. Here in Germany they say "Every delay under 5 minutes isn't a delay after all..." (that's what the german rail company said in a documentary)
I spent some time in Berlin, and found their trains to be extremely punctual. If they said it was scheduled for 14:42, you could see it on the track at 14:35, it was in the station at 14:40 and it was already gone by 14:42. Not like the trains here in New York, our schedules are more of a suggestion than a set time.
I love how big the windows are. My last time in Japan (2018) the trains I took to Kyoto and back had much smaller windows so you couldn't see as much outside.
Those are the N700A's. Shinkansen from the 90's have bigger Windows.
The"Hello Kitty",is an ideal way to introduce young children to railroads, and with that engineers desk, they can run a train,[ even if it's only make believe],and the adults, can do some things that they may not have had a chance to when they were youngsters! The Japanese, ever poetic, and romantic, and lovers of beautiful things!! And also, that understated sense of humor, really subtle, laughing in the most unlikely of places!! Thank you,and JR West really should make that train a permanent operation, particularly during the youth festival, and parents holiday!! Thank you for an extremely interesting trip, and informative no end!! 😇😇😇😇😇🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🤠
Can imagine, a "Hello Kitty" bullet train would only appear in Japan! Fun! 🤗🐱
Theming is not unique to Japan; lest we forget, KAL (Korean Air Lines) has at least one "StarCraft" themed 767(replaced an identically-thermed 737).
飛行機ではこういうキャラクターシップがありましたが、JRも新幹線で、しかもハローキティーをもってくるとは。こういうの嫌いじゃないです😊かわいい😍
I’m so jealous. Wish I could visit Japan again and ride this train.
I must say, when I see trains in Japan and compare them with train in my country...well let´s say I think I live in prehistoric country....
Same! Mass transportation in the USA is underdeveloped and lacks investments. 💔
To this day, I still think the 500 seris Shinkansen is the best and bold looking ever. It is futuristic and certainly makes you believe it is fast.
My 42 year old daughter will love this ❤️❤️
"We are proud of bread", "Sweets make us happy" - oh yeah they've got my number.
my favorite type of Shinkansen because of the shape, the 500 series!
Pretty cool having the “hello kitty” on such a nice piece of transportation and a very modern rail system that’s nice to see. Everything is so clean, from train stations to trains all meticulously clean looking.
This train warms every girl's heart👍 😍☘️🌹🍀🌺☘️😻☘️
Watching this at 3am as couldn't sleep. I've got the biggest stupidist grin on my face and now have to visit Japan just so I can ride this train. Oh and my kitty cat also thought your lunch looked good. Was lying here in the dark watching when she licked her chops level with my ear. Hadn't even noticed she was watching over my shoulder!
That's so cute. And the biggest luggage storage I've seen on a Shinkansen. And the best Okonomiyaki I've had was in Hiroshima
And nagasaki
Hello Kitty fans around the world will love this bullet train!
Ok, I need to definitely go to Japan just so I can ride on that Hello Kitty bullet train! It is so cute! 😍🥰💖
Totemo kawaī!
thanks kuga! i've traveled your beautiful country from hokkaido to kagoshima (and all in between.) you always share great experiences that i've incorporated in my japan travels. keep on traveling! ✈🌏
Woow we don't have such fancy trains in our country (Austria 🇦🇹) what a special hello kitty design 👌👌🔝😍
Omg, what a cute Shinkansen! This is my favorite I’ve seen so far on here. 😄
I want to travel on Hello Kitty Shinkansen, is just too adorable.
What a beautiful and cute, adorable theme! Who wouldn’t want to have a ride on the Hello Kitty! Train!!! Thanks for the fun! What a sleek train at the same time! Quite a difficult achievement 🥳😊👍🌷
The best part for me wasn’t so much a Hello Kitty Kodama, but just getting to see two different liveried 500 series side by side…
I wish the US would have more trains and have trains like this I love it !
US car industry took it all off 😅
But indeed it would be cool and more efficient
My grandmother's name is Kitty and every year for christmas I get her something with Hello Kitty - I'm gonna show her this video :)
I am so happy that on my last trip to Japan in 2019 I had a chance to take this Shinkansen. That gave me such beautiful memory. I hope we all can travel to Japan again soon.
I've seen EVA Air's Hello Kitty themed 777 but I had no idea JR West gave a Shinkansen set this treatment too. Very cool, thank you so much for sharing Kuga-san!
I had the opportunity to take this train when I was in Japan. I'm not sure if there are specific hours to get on, but I highly recommend you buying the stuff that is selling inside the train and the platforms.
Specially the cute sweet can inside the train is beautiful and not expensive. It's limited to one item per person but it's a great gif for friends or children.
Hello from Germany 🇩🇪. Have a great ride. ♥️
Ahhh i wish you had shown the okonomiyaki a bit more! Please show food more often ♥️
And it’s Hiroshima style okonomiyaki too!
This is the best travel channel ever. After each video I really feel as though I have been there in person. Natural sounds and very good explanations make me feel that I’m travelling with you. Also I like your courtesy and humour. Thank you Kuga
The cuteness of Hello Kitty multiplied by the speed of a coalition of cheetas. Here, Kitty, kitty....
And that powerfully advanced train is based on HELLO KITTY. Insane!!
What an awesome looking train . Japan really goes all out. I cant imagine the subway in my old home town of NY ever looking like this. I do miss the graffiti trains though which was on a different level.
I left Osaka early to travel to Hiroshima so I couldn't travel on the Hello Kitty Shinkansen but I did see it at one of the stations passing by and I was so excited to see it!
I love it 😭😭 its so pretty! But at the same time it looks cool, not cheesy or childish
I loved the journey in this Hello Kitty pink train. 🥰
Of course there's a Hello Kitty train. I've come to expect such things from Japan. I'm not even surprised.
Oooo that’s so cute train . I love Japanese trains systems, they keep on time and they keep clean as well. . anything about Japan just love love love love it
Since i am a filipino and i cannot go to there in Japan, I'm just enjoying all your videos every now and then. Thank you for free travel😊🙂
Japanese culture always blow me away. Still another exmple of how their country very effectively merges pop culture and big business (and trains are VERY big business in Japan). I wish my country had half of the high speed rail that Japan has. Super cool.....
That's because their culture, at least what we see of it, is entirely corporate. Everything people view as popular in Japan is a brand because there are no independent cultural forces.
Imagine living in America and thinking that your cultural heritage is what disney says it is.
@@EFCasual after spending quite a bit of time in several prefuctures, I fully agree with your assessment. and the reality/fantasy line is getting thinner and thinner. Such an interesting culture...
@@soonerlon
Japan has dark sides too. It has alot of prostitute, high suicide rate in the world, hikkikomori( shut ins) etc.
I really enjoy your videos. I rode the original bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto back in 1976, very memorable. What Japan has done with their train system since then is amazing.
The video was lovely but that meal at the end looked so appetizing.
Hello? Wow beautiful train 😃Thank you for wonderful capture 😊 Have a happy Friday👏🏻👍🏻
Japan really does have the nicest trains ever :D
The " Hello Kitty " Shinkansen is so Kawaii that when it runs passed Gojira he just smiles and waves
at the passengers and engineer. Unlike in previous visits to Japan when he thought the slow moving train
was a " Bento Box " evening snack,
Looks like a child's train. All that childish decor would drive me crazy 🤪 Kiddos would have a blast on that train.
I do like your train videos. Unbelievable how fast they can go.
There is a "Hello Kitty" shop aboard the train; however, "Hello Kitty" has a rather substantial following among adults without kids in Japan.
Very much a pretty kitty shinkansen - love the pink colors & lots of places to have photo-shoots. Thank you for sharing this with us on youtube.
What a awesome looking train. Extremely fast and streamline. I would love to have this in my "N" scale model train collection. Another great video Kuga-san, thank you.
Ces trains japonais sont d'une beauté, d'une propreté et d'un look absolument dignes d'éloges. Merci pour ce beau reportage ! Cordialement,
Great video, keep up the good work.👍🏽🇨🇦
It was very refreshing to see the bright pink colours everywhere!! Also great video!!
Hopefully I can go to Japan some day and take that shinkansen ♥ I really like Hello Kitty
That train 🚆 stands out so well, you mightn’t need an announcement 📣 of it’s coming; you could just visualise that train 🚊 with your own eyes 👀 and know that is the train 🚆 you need to take on said route 🗺.
I’m not gonna lie, I’ve seen it roll up to the platform at my local Shinkansen station half a dozen times, and I still get giddy when I see it.
I wonder if they have trains themed after other Sanrio characters. The Keroppi shinkansen would be a trip and a half.
This was so cute! We're not here for speed, we're here for the experience. :)
I think the Hello Kitty Shinkansen is my favorite train in Japan. Thank you so much Kuga!
That is truly the cutest train i have ever seen. I love Hello Kitty.
I was fascinated by 500 series train. First time I rode this train was in 1997. I took it to go to Kyoto from Tokyo and back and several times to south Japan . They had discontinued it later but glad they restarted it. I loved the shape of this train. The comfort is on another level. This was the only shinkansen back in the days that operated at 300 km/h between Hiroshima and Hakata while all others were still operating at 270kmph.
I'm glad to see this train is still operating. For some reason I thought I heard it had been cancelled awhile back. I guess not.
The view of the front of the train makes it look like the train is a Transformer! So cool!
A dear friend has had a dream for years to travel in Japan.. and, she is a huge Hello Kitty fan. She is hoping to realize her dream next year.. I'm so excited to send her a link to your channel.. she will be so happy!!!
সত্যি খুব অসাধারন বুলেট ট্রেনটি। এরকম থিমের ওপর ট্রেন ভাবাই যায় না। বাচ্চারা তো ট্রেন থেকে নামতেই চাইবে না।
That is very very cute. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your video! It helps me to know more about Japanese trains etc......
I love the way you approached filming your videos! They’re all substitled from a first person perspective with a low key sense of humour! You place the focus on really what the video is and should be about instead of bombarding it with lots of talking. ❤️🙌🏻 本当に好きです~
Wow, this is cool! And yes, fresh momiji manju and okonomiyaki is a must when visiting Hiroshima! Arigato Kuga!
Super cute! I’m a huge Hello Kitty fan so this video made me smile. 😍😍😍
Your relaxing and interesting videos make me want to visit Japan even more than I did before finding your channel. Thank you!
13:56 Train conductor waving goodbye, so cool.
That Shinkansen is definitely adorbs. Gotta show it to my mum, she loves Hello Kitty so much. ❤️
This just gives me nothing but joy. 😍
Hey Kuga! I’ve been following your channel for a while now and I like it very much! You’re always so positive and I love how you always show all different kinds of local foods :) Thanks to your videos I’m able to see a little bit of Japan until the day I will finally have the chance to travel to your beautiful country myself!
Keep it up! 🦄 Sending love from Germany!
This is great, one of your best yet! Thanks for flagging this up, Kuga, certainly interested in checking it out one day.
I just ran into this video now… really like the video (it’s very well done), and love this train! Will send my daughter the link to this shortly… she would’ve loved this when she was a kid- she’ll still love it today as an adult. Thanks for posting!
We bring you cuteness... AT 320 Km/h!!!
Ohhh I love this pink hello kitty shinkansen. Soon cool.
You'll never see this in my country. Thankyou for sharing this. I saved it because it's unique.😀
I love that train. Great video, I love Hello Kitty and seeing this video made my whole day beautiful. Thank you, safe travels my friend. ❤❤❤
Japan, perfection defined.
Kugaさん、こんにちわ😍👍️
日本人のコメントが付かず海外の方々のコメントが多くて嬉しいですね🤗🤗
スーツさんのような語り映像では無い分、現地の音が伝わってリアル感が良く出ていると思います🚄🚉
Amazing pink ride there and Hiroshima okonomiyaki is served with noodles there.
About okonomiyakis:Osaka-style mixes all the ingredients, the Hiroshima-style layers each ingredient. Also, the Hiroshima-style always includes noodles (either yakisoba or udon) and a fried egg.I miss okonomiyakis, but i want to try Hiroshima one, maybe someday.
Yeah I noticed the noodles and was a bit surprised.
Love this channel
Its very cute and adorable. Id so love to ride it some day when world travel gets back to normal... till that day comes, Thank you for sharing this video and others of your wonderful country ^.^
Thanks for the video, I like this train. I am a big fan of Hello Kitty and if I were to go Japan one day will definitely ride this train.
nice train .. here in CANADA we dont have train like this !!!
Awwwww, it's the Hello Kitty Express!!! KAWAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!
Great train. I like both Nijntje, Miffy for you guys, and Hello Kitty. They're both very cute 😍 ☺ 💕
