I am a Harley Davidson Owner, H.O.G. Member and have been riding for over 25yrs. I recently got my hands on a 2008 or 2009 Kawasaki Vulcan Mean Streak 1600cc w/ 1200 miles on it, in the most beautiful Crimson and Black stock color I have EVER seen. Hands down, one of the best bikes I have EVER OWNED! Nearly NO maintenance, NEVER had a problem with it and sold if for $1000 more than I paid for it! Also, one of the only, Non-Harley Davidson motorcycles they allowed at the local H-D Club. That being said, I am a die hard Harley Davidson fan, so don't hate. @SrkCycles is just running his hustle, Let the man live!
My 1988 Harley custom softail had 100,000 on it when I sold it and it was still going strong. I now have a Electra Glide Ultra Classic 2001. I bought it two years ago with 25000 miles on it modified to stage one for $8000. At that time I could have resold it for $14000. I have nothing against any motorcycle but, how come you Harley bashers ride wanna be Harleys? When I hit 58 years old I sold my sport bike. I had a 2000 Kawasaki ZX1100. I miss ripping through the canyons on that monster. Great handling machine. Im 68 years old now with 50 years of motocycling under my belt. Ill stick with my geezer glide. I dont care what you ride, Ill wave at you and stop and offer you help when you need it. You all ride safe and be on guard for those crazy cagers.
Terrence Gray, i own a VN and don't wanne look like a HD at all, i still ride with the Vulcan and Kawasaki logo's. I wear VN patches and t shirts. The setup, the hardtail style frame or the cruiser style is no HD invention, the V twin either. How about Indian owners? They have the right to complain about copycat HD, for 100 years already. They invented the V twin a fiew years before HD, (1905?)but still 16 years after Daimler (1889) It is like a"Jeep". In Europe, most people call every 4x4 a Jeep. When you own a Dodge, do you want to look like a Jeep? I found this on a VN forum: Dec 26, 2010 · #6 In case you never knew or forgot HD sued Kawasaki, Honda and others for having the gall to build motors that had their sound. Imagine that sueing someone else for something you copied from Indian! I dont know the exact details but when Kawi brought up the Fact they copied the v-twin and Sound from Indian the case was thrown out of court. Funny, not?
Hi my brother riders. I'm all American, I ride a Victory Cross County, Many riders I know just don't have the money to ride what everyone else is riding. This may not be a good bike for me or you but for someone who just want to ride this maybe the best thing for them. Let's support each other no matter what! It's not our money that's buying it.
People ,buy what YOU like! Personally I like this bike. Im not into overpriced stuff ,i work for my money and im gon pay for what i feel is best for me. I like many different bikes,i was gon get a v-rod but me being a 245lb weightlifting man💪😂...the vrod felt too small. So i went with the Suzuki boulevard m109R and im happy with it. Ride safe everyone peace.
Hey I just got to ride a 2016 Vaquero (pronounced Va Kero). My first ride impression is this: Really light handling for such a heavy scooter. The ABS took a few corners to get used to but then I am "old school." Buckets of low end torque. I would buy one in a heartbeat. My opinion is that this Kaw is very powerful, smooth, well laid out scooter that is comfortable for these old bones to ride. I would be willing to bet that this scooter would take you from coast to coast in much comfort and it looks good too. I don't care that it is a Kawasaki. By the way when I was about 30 and living in the San Joaquin Valley I was a member of the MMA (modified motorcycle association) and as we all used to say, "It's not what you, it's THAT you ride."
I got a 1600 Nomad..Water cooled, V twin,Fi, Shaft Final, hyd lifters, Auto cam adj, pretty much maint free.......never an issue with anything since rolled of the dealer floor. Gas, oil that is it. 29,000 miles and still purrs like a lion with V & H's.....I think Harley builds a beautiful bike but the cost and reliability are shit.
sir i would disagree i bought a 2003 55000 miles no issue... 2010 ultra limited .. had some exhaust bolts tightened under warranty so i'm saying no issue... rode to texas from indiana and to california and back... on my 3 rd road glide ultra again to california and back on my second 107 engine never any issues i'm sure this is a reliable bike but so is harley
It does not matter what you ride as long as you ride a bike you feel comfortable with. Some like H-D and some like Japanese cruisers. Nothing wrong with that.
I bought a 2015 Vulcan 900 Classic lt I love the bike but this, this is the bike I wanted maybe when the kids grow up this will be my next bike I love the vaquero
I was in the exact same boat as you, I had a 900 custom, I loved the bike but just felt it needed another gear when I got on the highways. I found a 2012 vaquero for sale out of state in the color I was looking for, and it only had 3000 miles on it. So I loaded my 900 custom up in an enclosed uhaul trailer because I'm in Iowa and at the time I still had 4 ft of snow on both sides of my driveway. Took that bad boy to the next state where the vaquero was being sold. unloaded my bike, loaded the vaquero and took it home. I sat on new bike in garage making motorcycle noises until the snow melted lol. a couple months later, I couldnt be happier. The Vaquero is the best bike I've ever owned. when you get yours, you will not regret it.
Folks it's not necessarily "not having the money" either. I feel like I could afford a Harley if I really wanted one. If I found a deal one of the bigger touring models (I would like to buy a touring bike some day.)I couldn't refuse, I'd probably buy it. It's the fact that Harley asks an obscene amount of money for something that isn't superior to its competitors. I fact in some ways inferior. The water cooling of the Vaquero here for instance is something I'd prefer to have. I feel like I am getting ripped off having to pay an extra $10,000 for a sticker on the bike's tank and therefore am unwilling to do so. Not without some major advantages.
@@maltnhopz515 Great suspension, good power. I immediately replaced the paper air filter with the high flow filter and that as power and exceleration. My Vaquero is brand new so I won't test it out. But I did the same on my 2021 Harley sportster. Before in first gear I would hit 25 mph then have to shift. When I put the high flow filter in 40 mph first gear. I d hit second gear and get to 55 mph before going into third.
The Harley do have better fitting bags around the exhaust, but that's where it stops. The Vaquero is more practical and garners more compliments for being different
It depends on what you want to ride. It's 2017 and just about everyone makes a decent touring cruiser. Harley Davidson is an american loyalty brand that I love but yaMaha may have the technology edge with their 2018 star Venture.
We are individuals with some similarities and bikes among other things are no different. To each his own. I have a saying. "Ride what you like and like what you ride, but just ride man (or woman), just ride, and ride safe".
Great bike, but it's too small for my 6'3" 300 lbs frame. I felt very cramped. I have a road glide limited, but it's set up for my frame. Love it. Just find a bike you like, get on it and go!!
I have a 2011 same color. I looked at the harley street glide and road glide. But i wanted to be different and not to mention dependable. Easy maintenance. Not that much cheaper. So price wasn't a issue. Had the bike 2 years and 36k no issues other then a battery and tires. . only bad part the fan throws heat at you.
I really enjoy your videos and I have subscribed to your channel because I take your reviews seriously. I have been riding Harley's for the past maybe 12 years and have owned just about all of them. I have to say the Road King was my favorite in the Harley line. However, I'm over the image and the enormous expense of not only purchasing but ownership. I have a friend that swears by Yamaha but they no longer make the Stratoliner Deluxe and I am looking at this Kawasaki that you did a review on. Actually, a 2018 or a 2019. In your honest opinion, are these bikes reliable and what kind of issues have they had if any? Also, the cost of maintaining them? Thank you in advance and thank you for the great videos!
Not only is the Vaquero a more nimble bike. It has the same engine performance at 104cc as the Harley 107cc M8's. Harley's are expensive due to supply and demand reasons only. Not because they are better bikes.
Hey Sean. I love your Channel. I just wanted to ask how come you don't do 0 to 60 on the big bikes. I watched this one and another on the Vaquero, and one on the Voyager. I'm considering these bikes, but I would like to know their zero to 60s. Also, have you ever compared them to a Goldwing?
The difference in the initial price and the resale value is all due to supply and demand. The Vaquero is a decent bike, but very few people want one. It's viewed as a cheaper imitation of the real deal Street Glide. There's really no difference in reliability these days as both bikes are well made. I would not be ashamed to ride the Kawasaki if that was all I could afford. But if the price were the same, I'd choose the Harley. I prefer the overall look, ride, and feel of the Street Glide. But that's just my humble opinion.
+Gabby Hayes nicely put sir, there's a lot of HD riders that started on metric bikes who now think they are too cool to give anyone riding anything else an ounce of respect, I say no matter what you ride if it makes you happy then you're doing it right!
Well said; I like the roadglide, especially the latest models from 2015 up!! There is no way I can afford it. For what I got my Vaquero for brand new, even with aftermarket accessories, didn't come close to a stock RG.
sorry gabby Hayes for being late on the comments but I agree I ride the Kawasaki vaquero myself and it's a awesome bike I also own the street glide but I like my Kawasaki more softer suspension
Vaquero is Spanish for “cowboy” and the origin of “buckaroo” so you are right. Correct pronunciation is “vac-er-o” more or less but with a Spanish accent it sounds different than how Americans say it.
You're missing the point. Most Harley riders don't want a light and nimble bike. They don't want a quick handling bike that they can throw into corners. They'd rather have an overheating air cooled engine than a water cooled engine. They like to be able to brag about how expensive their bike is. And most of all, they don't want any bike that doesn't say Harley Davidson on the gas tank. Personally, I like both Harleys and Kawasakis, though I'd probably buy the Kawasaki because I'm not made of money.
Some Harleys are now water cooled, not all. In this case, the comparison was being made between buying a used Kawasaki Vaquero or buying a used Street Glide/Road Glide, and my point was that most Harley riders would not be persuaded to buy the Kawasaki because of it's water-cooleing. Not bad-mouthing Harleys, I like them, but it's just a fact that most Harley buyers don't really do a lot of comparison shopping with other brands. They want a Harley and that's what they buy. Nothing wrong with that.
Barry Ervin: I ride a Harley and bought it for NONE of the ignorant reasons you claim. If you're stupid and don't know what you're talking about, stay off the Internet. The less people that know you're an idiot, the better.
I can't refrain from chiming in here. I don't want a Harley. They are poorly engineered, unreliable and WAY overpriced. I just spent 4 days on a 2018 Harley Road King (a real looker in my eyes and a bike I wanted to love and perhaps consider buying). The wind protection was a C-, the ride was not especially compliant, and with every gear change I thought my teeth would shatter. You can't even see the tiny gas gauge (seriously Harley?), and more... However, I DO want the Harley sound and the Harley looks (I love chrome). I bought a Kawasaki Vaquero, and then put pies on, air cleaner and 21" chrome front wheel and wow!... Do I like Harley riders? Yes, I do. I like riding with them because they always admire my bike.
Vaquero, is a spanish word that means cowboy, so letter A pronounces as A not as O. Vaca means cow and vaquero means cowboy. My first and only bike for the last almost four yrs has been a Honda VTX1800T water cooling also and so far so good no complains at all. I like the HD looking, it's great; every time I'm riding with HD groups or go to the HD dealership therer's always people that comes and tell me what a great bike I have to don't get rid of her, some even had it and change it for HD and they regret it so bad they say. Both are great bike I think like much bikes out there, Hd just has an excellent marketing name and keeps better demands for everything they sell. Ride safe out there!
3rd Reason- Aftermarkets accessories way more affordable than Harley. 4th Reason- reliability and maintenance. This bike will give you way more trouble free miles and when it does need worked on, you wont have to empty the bank
Why do Harley guys call Japanese bikes POS? I had a Kawasaki for 11 years and never been in shop. Changed Oil, Brakes and Tires that is it. I went Indian and have problems from day 1. I ride with all kinds of bikes. I do like Harley but the are far less reliable than Japanese bikes. I have tested almost all newer Harley's and Indians. They did handle better than my Kawasaki, but that was a Vulcan 900 first generation 2006. Brand name means nothing to me, the one that handles and has power for the best bang for your buck will be my next bike. I was thinking Street Glide or Chieftain but for the $10 000 I save I can do significant mods to make the Vaquero the way I like. Ivan's Mods, Exhaust. In looks I think the Vaquero is far sexier than the Road Glide. Resale means nothing as I will buy it slightly uses taking the biggest hit on deprecation. My Indian has depreciated far worse than my Kawasaki. And as for Harley, I hate the vibration on the previous 103, the Milwaukee 8 is superior and feels more like the Metric smoothness I am accustomed to. Most old School Harley guys hate the new Harleys as they cut 75% vibration.
It's not brand loyalty or quality but how a bike makes a person feel. Or how they feel others view them on that bike. I myself love Japanese vehicles (car's, bike's, trucks etc.) because of their dependability. Normally some of the parts are more plastic like and cheaper in appearance but are far less expensive and much more durable. I've noticed a lot of people now purchasing used Japanese cruisers (that are shaped like Harley's) and taking off the badging and putting on aftermarket exhaust (sounds loud like a Harley) to pass it off as something that's not Japanese. 1%er clubs won't allow you to join if you're not riding a Harley. I even know of a Christian MC that won't allow you to join unless you ride a Harley Davidson. 90% of American rider's ride for appearance. You have doctor's, police, school teachers etc that ride there Harley every weekend. Decked out in German helmets, leather vest etc. looking like an extra for the tv series Son's of Anarchy. It's not about how a bike rides, it's dependability or anything else...... it's how that bike makes you feel
LoL ha ha! I like big baggers and drag pipes basically and 18 inch ape hangers but preferably I'm a die-hard Fatboy but it I also like Road Kings the Heritage Softail and Softail Deluxe. right now Im currently currently riding 07 Yamaha Roadstar Silverado 18 inch ape hangers shotgun style hard Krome 3 exhaust oh and a windshield with other custom work
I'm 55 had metric had Harleys have HARLEY road glide ultra now 2016 25000 dollars had concourse 14 2013 paid 13500 Harleys nice for me and my wife IF I was single be back on concourse in a secound
HD snobs are full of hot air. I've own Pans, Shovels, and a piece of trash Block head EVO. The only good HD I've owned was a 1000 Sportster. Sure it had some vibration issues and in stop and go traffic the engine would "load up" but bad mouthing other scooters for having way better engineering is a pile of misguided patriotic bullshit. Back in the 70's the big 4 Japanese motorcycle companies offered HD engineering help because they needed HD to survive. The morons at HD turned them down. I traded my Pan in at BMW and got a R100RT. I never looked back either. I did build a Shovel from a basket case. The old scooters that I liked best were the Triumph Tigers. Actually my all time favorite HD was a flat head 80. Those "tractors" would pull stumps and lope along all day long. They even ran well after fitting a morris magneto to the ignition drive. Personally I would prefer a scooter that is incredibly dependable that is also very comfortable. I am pushing 70 so my days of blasting through the twisties are over. It must be smooth, powerful and offers excellent comfort with good gas mileage. HD has been living on their laurels far too long. All motorcycle companies are global. Suggesting made in America is why you support HD is a weak argument. Who builds HD forks? Where do many of the parts come from? Get Real! It's all global corporate bullshit that you cannot change. Lots of Japanese motorcycles are built in the USA.
David Bennett Sportster is longest lasting engine in the family. They started in the fifties & are still very strong beautiful engines. As long as you change your oil regularly like ya should it is a DIE. HARD! Every engine they have made they change every one or two decades, not the case with the XL going hard to this day. BTW the Evolution is Not junk & is the 2nd best in my opinion.
Mike Canada My Sportster was rare (dual seat cafe racer) and I got offered more than I could refuse so it is long gone. Actually my first scooter was a '48 WLH that was military surplus. It was brand new when I got it in '67. I also like a flathead 80.
Are you guys still arguing ,,I remember this battle from the biker rags of the 70s Easy Riders ,Supercycle etc.Give it up already,,And if anybody wants to wear a full face mask and leather boots pants jacket and gloves when its above 90 degrees,, You go right ahead ,,,We get it ,,lol, you got beat up at school a lot.
This is my opinion, I ride a Harley, never have a problem with it, you guys know they are made well, yes it's true they are a little pricey, however you can find good deals on a used bike, let me say I have owned Kawasaki's, Hondas, and a Suzuki , I live in what I call Harley country, the majority of the bikes you see are Harley's. Let me say that I don't care what a person rides I wave at all, but you guys know deep down inside when you ride a imitation you hope when you see a group of riders approaching you that they are not Harley's , their is something inside of you that wants to shrink up and wish you can disappear until they pass by, I speak this from personal experience, so where ever I go I hold my head up, as my cousin stated to me after I bought my Harley " now you have a proper v twin motorcycle ".
Get over yourself Don Icantfindmyballs. There are so many manufacturers of motorcycles that are superior to Harley Davidson. Please just let people tell their story. That's what you tube is for. It's not YOUR TUBE.
I owned a 2011 Vaquero (va-care-o) and was very sad to see it go when I bought my Harley Limited. Both bikes are great and for $10,000 or more less the Vaquero is a super bike. My Harley is super too. There are no losers here. BTW, it's Street Glide, not shtreet glide. :)

The one thing I don't like about the metric baggers/touring bikes is the shapes of the saddlebags. They're too round. HD has the design spot on.
Bryan Romero I actually like the way these rounded bags look way more than the HD. Don’t care for the fact that they’re side opening though.
But the HD bags don’t hold much. The metric bikes are better all around.
The h-d bags are sharp looking, but they do not hold a great deal of items...good if you have a small appetite and don't need a big lunch.

Gabby Hayes Harleys suck balls, overrated American junk that still incorporate 1960s technology.. kawasaki quality and performance is superior
sorry gabby Hayes for being late on the comments but I agree I ride the Kawasaki vaquero myself and it's a awesome bike I also own the street glide but I like my Kawasaki more softer suspension
My bike :) A have the 2014 SE! I enjoy it, that is what matters.
Great info on all the bikes that you ride
Vaquero is Spanish for “cowboy” and the origin of “buckaroo” so you are right. Correct pronunciation is “vac-er-o” more or less but with a Spanish accent it sounds different than how Americans say it.
Cease Striving! God’s good my brother! Nice bike!
Barry Ervin umm Harleys are water cooled now know the facts before ya run off with the mouth,, ya just make yourself look stupid and uninformed..
No kidding youtube addict same here.
Barry Ervin all but the sportster are cooled
Is this Kawasaki closer to a road glide ? Or street glide ?
HD overall looks better, but the engine on the Kawi looks way better!
If you don’t mind me asking, how tall are you? How does your size feel handling a bike with a 28” seat height?
I love mines... bought mine 13898. 0 miles 2017 rides like a dream eats corners like pac man
Vaquero, is a spanish word that means cowboy, so letter A pronounces as A not as O.
Nice Bike! Love the color also.
Love that red!
Would be perfect at black bike week.
Lol!!! Nothing says He's more serious than when he puts a tour pack on his bike. Harley's new touring sales line
No sure why would compare it to the Street Glide. Its fairing is fixed to the frame. If there’s a comparison it should be to Road Glide.
Might be my new bike i buy im liking it a lot
I like the Bible verses, never be ashamed of the Gospel.
Compare this to a road glide not street glide . The fairing is fixed to the body vs the front end.
Which bike has more power?
Dan Meredith the Vaquero will run circles around it.
My 2011 Streetglide was 11k... so not always paying super high dollar amount for a Streetglide when it's used
Vaquero, Spanish for Cowboy
And pronounced, "ba-k-row".
Kawasaki. Japanese for Road Glide. Harley Davidson: Japanese for airplanes flying into American aircraft carriers.
@@OnPointFirearms kamakazi
Actually, I'm pretty sure Vaquero is Spanish for Vaquero.
Try customizing the Kawasaki vs Road glide . That’s the reason why 50% of all registered bikes on the road today are HD - make it your own.
it's easy to customize the kawasaki. it's called "fabrication"
Me personally I don't care for eather one the street glide or the Road Glide lol
+Dachamp2001 what's your flavor ?
I was thinking about making diy custom fairing using carbon fiber.
Where is the color touch screen infotainment system /gps ?
Are you guys still arguing ,,I remember this battle from the biker rags of the 70s Easy Riders ,Supercycle etc.Give it up already,,And if anybody wants to wear a full face mask and leather boots pants jacket and gloves when its above 90 degrees,, You go right ahead ,,,We get it ,,lol, you got beat up at school a lot.
Good ride!
Maybe even less than $8000. Friend just sold one. Cut the price, cut the price, cut the price. I don't agree, it felt top heavy and long to me.
plastic is strong and light.. only fools think a fairing should be steel or fibreglass...
We say whatever we want to say because we are Americans. Damn straight.
Can you review a Yamaha Eluder?
Just that dash layout alone would have me walk to the Streetglide
But serious touring putting on lots of Miles hard to be water cooled engine don't care who makes it
Actually hd bags, side tins, outer fairing and much more are all plastic these days.
3r reason...reliability
Ron devious 😂😂
Vaquero means cowboy in Spanish.
Funny Harley just got back and now going back overseas again not made in America just assembled here
Get over yourself Don Icantfindmyballs. There are so many manufacturers of motorcycles that are superior to Harley Davidson. Please just let people tell their story. That's what you tube is for. It's not YOUR TUBE.
In English your correct in spanish you need to roll that R
Vaquero means cowboy Bro.
Look so hugly...
Indian always has looked better
It's "Ba-Quero"
Think they call it the voyager in England
Andrew Marlow yes, Voyager Custom. The one with full top box is called 'just' Voyager.
I wouldn't even think of buying a Vaquero over a Road Glide. not even for a second.
It's pronounced like "Vackaero", it is the Spanish word for Cowboy.
+S Defiel sorry I say my words funny. It's my Lancaster county non accent
lol, no worries, I'm a git. :p
Did you ivanize the Vaquero when you owned it and how does the handling compare?
Yes Sean, Yes! Lol
Vaqueero?
Anotha One
when did we start all of the religious stuff?
It’s vack-keeyerh-oh
No
I'm the opposite of you you don't like the back I do but I can't stand the front that's the only reason I wouldn't buy one
Hey ride what you can afford who cares if it's a Kawasaki or Honda a Yamaha who cares people don't like it f em!
Its ugly, the street glide has a better profile
$10,000 different lol
Bah-ke-roh
fiberglass is glass reinforced plastic.
That's one ugly and messy dash
Too slow
hahaha he said better then harley hahahah hahahah that's a joke
Personally the Manos we talkin about
Sh
BAKERO
That bike is just ugly af lol
Exalted in the earth? Do worms worship? Who knew?
