Bravo!! Great cover! Check out the live version of this song from PeterTownshend with david gilmour on guitar and Simon phillips on drums .one word ... Finesse !
Ha!!! Saw your comment after I wrote mine. Great minds think alike! 🤣 And yes…Pete’s live version of this is SO great. As a drummer…I love watching Simon in this and The Who’s Maximum R&B with Pete’s same backing band behind the then-surviving Who members doing the entire Tommy album.
Doesn't it just!! I tried to buy Simon Phillips' Cordia Tama kit used on that tour. When he left the UK to join Toto, he left it in his London Recording studio... Phillips absolutely smashes this song...
Where did this come from??? Common knowledge the band loves The Who and bi proxy, Townshend…and the live version of this with Pete fronting his band with Gilmour on guitar and Simon Phillips on drums is PHENOMENAL!!! (If you’ve never watched Pete’s live version of this song…do yourself a favor. It’s also a veritable drum clinic from the great Simon Phillips.) Anyway…so awesome for the boys to pull this one off. Such a great tune, too.
Basically, I always appreciate when musicians want to revive excellent old classics and thus help younger generations to have a chance to access them... but the downside is that they rarely have the same class and virtuosity the originals reach, as this example shows once again (and this is not due to the poor recording quality), and a certain degeneration is inevitably taking hold...
Because very likely they didn’t rehearse that at all, it was propably not a regular of the tour And little things like accents really don’t get discussed .
Chad Smith is a great drummer.... but Simon Phillips is a whole new level of BRILLIANT!!
Simon is master musician drummer!!
@@christopherrelyea349 Best of the best :)

Wait what the fu-?
That’s Pino on bass!!!
He played on the original.
And Chad on the drums?
What is even going on here? This is amazing.

With Pino Palladino on the bass! (The guy that played the iconic line here on the record)
Eddie "Earthlings" has brought a new soul to you! I'm loving seeing him on stage with them. I would love to see them play with you here in 🇧🇷
So cool to see Pino playing bass on this live! His performance on the original studio track is excellent, and I'm glad he got to revisit it!
Makes you really appreciate how good Simon Phillips is.
Chad Smith does a decent job of holding it down don't, ya think?
A very very hard song to pull off and emulate Simon. You have to just listen to the original or live to see to answer your question.

@@0509killer the ghost notes are so technical, I love hearing that type of stuff. I agree Chad Smith is Tight on the track anyway.
Amen
Is that Pino on the bass? Great track, cheers 🔊🎤🇬🇧🥇👍🏆🎸
What a cover that was! I love the times when Josh gets closer to Chad to play together :)
This man is unstoppable in what he plays. He never ceases to to amaze me.
Wow! Great cover of a very underrated song - nice work - sonic!
F*cking awesome!

Drumming 101. Have yet to see a drummer play the actual part.
Well that was pretty damn cool!
Eddie Vedder covering THIS song is just so. frigging. good.

Amazing cover!!!!
Drummmer is ripppppping!!
Drummer and baseline are great!

Great under the radar cover
Need official boots from these shows
Who knew that this cover was actually a suggestion for how fans could pay for the bloated ticket prices of EV's forthcoming solo tour!?
After every "Give Blood", Chad hits that extra accent the way Pete did it live except the band is not hitting the accent with him. So why do it?
Because very likely they didn’t rehearse that at all, it was propably not a regular of the tour And little things like accents really don’t get discussed .
Uncle Pete would be proud...damn proud!
Really?! I don't think so...
Damn,do u think ed has enough monitors around him…lol…smh 7 monitors…thank God Pino was there
Josh K is a class guitar player!
F the RHCPs.😜
Josh s*cks

Everyone please go back to your band's.
Chad can hardly keep up
Horrible. Embarrassing.
