That is me. I also shop around, of course if you have a variety of grocery stores nearby it works. If you spend more gas than the saving is not worth it.
What I started doing this year in Jan is saving $1,000 a month for the entire year, for my vacation fund and an additional $200 a month towards my emergency fund. I then picked a country that I want to go to where my dollar will stretch further and go within the time where it will be less busy and inexpensive. After that, I take half of my vacation fund and put the other half into my emergency savings fund. So in total, I will saved $12,000 a year for my vacation fund, minus $6,000 of that to go into my emergency savings fund, plus I saved an additional $2,400 from my emergency savings fund, which gives me a total of $8,400 that I saved for the entire year, along with being able to go on a international vacation trip for the year. In all honesty, it takes discipline to save money and make sure that you understand basic economics of the “Need Vs Want” concept. That is what helped me to save money and budget well.
Glad to see you put the majority away. A neat trick is even with that $6k , you can aim for a budget friendly trip. Then whatever is left over, goes to your next vacation. It’s a win win.

Investing Saving and Budgeting SPOT ON!!!! Hi 👋🏾 Dr Nina Thanks so much for sharing this very informative/vital information I appreciate you wholeheartedly 🤗 👍🏾👌🏾 I’m currently in the midst of financial strain but I am researching, zeroing in and learning to break bad habits that create financial stress and as you stated in your video keeping me broke
I started getting in the habit of "paying me first" meaning that all of my savings/investments get paid first and then whatever is leftover i will use to budget with or let it rollover to next months expenses (if everything is paid on time)
This is something I’m still learning! I found that my anxiety increased when I felt unprepared financially to deal with unexpected issues. My therapist talks about this often! Always have a plan. Thank you for this!
Credit card offers with 15-18 months no interest are thee best! 🙌🏾 The last 2 CC I got had those special intro offers and I was sure to keep utilization under control and have them paid in full Prior to that interest kicking in.
Sometimes, you need to see in real time what may befall you if you don't manage your finances/spending. Perhaps take a ride to one of those areas....you know... where people who are sleeping under the bridges and are in shelters. Sometimes, you will see whole families in desperation. All of these people aren't addicted to drugs or mentally ill. Some were just living life, and because they may have been overly in debt or living paycheck and those paychecks stopped... they are now struggling to find a roof for themselves. Stay on guard because the "financial life" you save may be your OWN.
Also remember to check with CC holder and see if you qualify for your interest rate to be lowered if you have a newer CC. I was with Citi for a little over a year and qualified for an interest rate drop of 5% without penalty or changes to original terms. 😉
The timing of this has to be because of God! I told myself last night in the shower that i will not spend any money for the month of October except for groceries and bills. I have horrible spending habits and impulsive shopping is a constant battle for me. But when I'm panicking trying to figure out if i can pay my car note, there's a problem that needs fixing

Hello Dr. Nina, I have been watching your channel for 8 years now. I have always wanted to join your members' mentor membership. We just concluded our review this morning in a short family meeting and they all agree this is working. I've had to learn and put in to practice these same 8 habits. My husband and I have our EF in HYSA and HYCDs, we use my rewards cc for our vacations and pay it off with our vacations savings account in which I save every 2 weeks. We have a financial positions ss that have all our life insurance, investments, mortgage balance, etc... we update this quarterly or more often as needed. I have a student loan bal less than 5k and another debt payment we are quickly eating away at. We don't have any cc debt to carry over, we pay the whole balance by the due date. It took a while to get here. We made a lot of mistakes along the way, but we are in a much better position than 5 years ago. I'm proud of us 😅. Love your tips. Keep em coming.

I recently had my first consultation with a plastic surgeon for my breast lift so I've been doing a lot of research.
