What diff ratios you have? Been following your progress for a while now and has always sounded like it has really long gearing, which would kill your trans a lot faster too. Switching to lower ratios will help and make it more fun when you go manual too (and easier on your clutch). Love the XJ and what you're doing with it man, keep it up!
The AX15 came in XJs, it is pretty nice, and it was made in Japan, by Aisin, which is part of Toyota. the AX15 is actually similar to the w56, and I think that came in Supras.
Just went through that same jeep transmisison design drama, 95 grand cherokee 5.2 has the same kickdown wire on the throttle body. Drove it a good 100 miles on the way to my tcase swap and it broke off (had glue on it from prev owner) with it broke it shifted like shit and would hang in the gears even if you let off the gas. After the trip and before I discovered the wire, I did the transmission filter and found a chunk in the pan. I entirely thought my tranny was gone and hardly thought I could get it home. I had to let off and do the semi manual shifting up to 2nd into 3rd. But it got home, then I found the broken kickdown wire, got it glued back together. And it drives completely fine, like nothing happened. With this amount of power and the transmission shifting as hard as it does when these are broke, I think I can bet on why you've been through three. I don't know how this transmission shop did three of the same transmission without addressing that, idk the story. But fr get that shit fixed it really has costed you three trannies on that very small connection that in some orientation needs to get paired with your throttle body
crazy how much ur in westfield i never see u around lol, also the euro meet in southwick on sunday was dope, at like 11-12 it picked up and a lot more people had came
You should have just got a used trans ans swapped it yourself… i mean for me it sucked i ran into a lot of issues but a good aw4 is cheap and with that plus all the other parts/tools i still only spent maybe 500 on swapping it
@@stevennewellproductions well i watched more of these videos and it seems like that setup is gonna keep blowing aw4s… might be best to manual swap it and just leave that in the past
@stevennewellproductions couldn't you loop it around like how it was from factory then hook it up. Just thinking of some cheaper alternatives for you, unless you really want the manual I get it.
Good video sir. We would like to invite you to do a review video for our pod lights, and we have reached out to you via email for inquiring an opportunity hope hear from you soon

Aw4 / a340 is a great trans drag racers use it for a lot of things

Glad this came up in my recommendations. Cool build dude definitely going to follow.
You could just buy an adapter and run a th400 or 4l80 but a manual swap would be sick
Glad I went with the interstate battery and no anti rolling switch thingy! I just get in and drive and it don’t sound like a slide whistle… 😂
good that you keep on working on your 2 XJs and spend your hard earned money on it !
a good transmission man can fix that throttle psi valve cable for you.

i wish i could do a 2jz swap on my 2001 xj
Jz is the way
Whats that switch u use to shift
I’ll pull the 5 speed manual out of mine. How far are you from Tx?
Will you retain 4wd
Great video. What lift kit would you recommend that will minimize driving discomfort?
Rubicon express makes a good lift
@@stevennewellproductions thanks man!
The aw4 is a Toyota transmission
AX15? It is the manual transmission that came on xjs
Way too weak
Can you run it in auto all do have to shift it with this setup
I have to shift
@@stevennewellproductions just a question does this do better on fuel than the old 4.0

Why dont you just build a bracket for it and put a fat cooler on it. Those aw4s are tanks.
Cable is too long

Turbo 400 tranz ! 🤦♂️

That's a detent cable, not a kickdown cable.. Listening to you talk tells me that you haven't remotely done your homework. Good luck.
You can’t explain much ?
