This is Chapter 6 of a series on the ups and downs of introducing a feisty Bengal kitten to a household of cats.
I love to watch cat behaviour and make documentaries on what I see.

I've been watching this from part one with my cat. He can't take his eyes off of it. This is pretty much a reality show for cats. I wonder if my cat can sort of tell what's going on just by observing the body language.
That is Fascinating! My cat wasn't interested to watch this one that long, but earlier horse-video he was watching eyes all big and round. I think that he has all the drama of cat-kingdom in the neighbourhood and does not need to watch more of it. But that horse was totally something different! Very high jumping horse with cat-like movements so I think that he was taking notes how to jump to the moon or just not sure what it was!
I could listen to you talk about cats all day and never get bored.

The post at 1:50 is a perfect example of how you can enrich your cat's environment to improve it's quality of life.
Teego is actually behaving like the dominant male cat thru all these videos i think.
Though my old cat was a bengal his personality was more of teegos and would let alot of things slide. And was also really fond of kittens. But when the kittens went to far he would just put them in place with a small but quick display of force. Or he would actually resort to sitting on them :O
Cats are matriarchal.
Sitting on something is dominating
Well still dominant, but very non-aggressive. And he was backing up and feeling really low, unsure of himself in one point so he is going to give up his throne for common good and peace. It is very lucky! There will be a good balance between them all later.

Very well done. Very entertaining, and very educational. Kudos to your understanding of cats, and your ability to articulate this to us (your viewers). I would even say that this is done well enough for broadcasting on TV. But then, I would not have the chance to see it on my own time as I do here. Thanks so much for sharing.
haha! Thanks - The music is always difficult - it needs to be free, and royalty free too, and I need something slapstick or very energetic or something that's fitting for cat behaviour, and finally, something I haven't used before!
I think it certainly fits their behaviour, and I put it on a very low volume too! :-)

Great series on cat behavior. I got alot form it and I would be squeezing chatsee's cute little face, scrubbing him and snapping his tail till the cows come home. Its so funny how Teego was the kitten runny a muck with freya and now the tide has turned. Teego has a beautiful color. lovely cats! . Thanks so much fro sharing these videos.

I remember watching this series a long time ago. When I stumbled on it tonight I watched it again and am so glad I did. You give an excellent explain of what the various cat positions mean in terms of body language, but more importantly you continue to remind people that cats don't talk the same language as humans do. "Don't read your own human reactions into cat behavior". Finally, when you said you took Chatsy (sp?) because some people wanted him that wouldn't know how to deal with him I cheered out loud. I had a Bengal who lived with me for 20 years as my best friend in the world. She was beautiful, dainty and the most loving cat I have ever known; she slept under the covers with me when it was really cold, but she was a Bengal. They are definitely not for everyone. They are demanding, still wild in many ways and need continuous stimulation with toys, etc. or they get frustrated and "grouchy". You do not want a grouchy Bengal because they talk all the time and they will tell you when they are displeased with you loudly and incessantly! Thanks for the lovely footage and cat lesson.

My Bengal is six years old. His name is Shuno and has adjusted well with our other two females who were 3 years old when Shuno was introduced as a kitten. It didnt take long for Shuno to take the Alpha spot. I love your videos and hope for more. The Bengal breed is incredible and we are amazed how playful he still is and will remain throughout his entire Bengal adult life. He has trained us well too. lol

God damn it you beat me to it hahahaha
The comparison between Dennis the Menace and Mr. Wilson keeps coming up to me! Chatzi actually claimed the top of the sofa, and while Freya blustered at him a lot, she gave up her spot rather than have an actual fight. "Don't you bring your games round here, boy!" she says. "That's it, I'm going inside", Mr. Wilson grouches as he gets off his porch swing and heads into the house. Freya wants none of this energy and isn't interested in being Chatzi's playmate. She's much too old and dignified for such antics. Teego might be interested in playing some... if Chatzi will chill out just a bit and keep it at a level Teego enjoys. I sense Chatzi will always want to tease the others and try to get a rise out of them, and need a lot of playtime with the owners to make up for the other cats' obvious lack of interest in that level of activity.
That was kind of what I missed in this video, but I suspect it does happen:

Right now, I'm sitting here and have been watching these videos for about 20 minutes with my cat sitting on my lap, attentively watching the video. I'm not even petting her, and she's not trapped. She just sitting on my knee, calmly purring.

A cat perfectly evolved to blend in.. to that pillow and blanket. Love these videos, always very interesting. I would have thought they'd all settled into a power balance by now, but it seems like they are still figuring each other out. :)
I have zero knowledge about cats and am defnitly a dog-guy but watching this series is really cool!! It's nice to hear someone talking about stuff he really knows. Such a perfect narration really.
I watch these videos instead of tv now. They are much more entertaining.
with dogs for me it's always been easy, almost pure instinct, and I've always been able to read them. with cats on the other hand I've always known that I cant read them at all. it's been awesome learning so much about their body language! thanks for the knowledge!
