    This is why Denise is where she is in her career! Beautiful playing! My favorite of your recorded excerpts.

    What is your opinion on the slur at the top of the scale? Technically its not written in the part, but it seems to be performance practice. Would you advise to slur it in an orchestral audition?

      It is absolutely performance practice - and I would do it in an audition. It would be weird for me to hear someone not do that particular slur. :)

    what kind of mouthpieces and rim do you use and does the black rim do anything, is it out actually 18.75 mm?

    • @DeniseTryon

      I play a Houser GS 12-0 mouthpiece with a JL 18.75 black H-Kote rim. The H-Kote is really slippery - in my opinion, more slippery than gold. It's for people with bad allergic reactions. I don't have an allergy to metal, but I love the feeling of it!

    Hi Denise, if you don't mind sharing, what warm-ups are you doing as an intro in these videos? Is it something you came up with or is it one you were perhaps taught?
    Thank you for sharing your talent! You're inspiring:)!

      +Katy Hosey It's all based around a C scale/arpeggio. I'm basically just noodling around the horn. The very last thing you hear is a descending C arpeggio, with a half step move before the next note in the arpeggio (c,b,g,f#,e,d#,c,b, etc). I hope this helps!

    Hey, I’m starting to audition for bands and I find exerts like this in E-flat, do I need to transpose it to F or play it in E-flat

    • @DeniseTryon
      @DeniseTryon  Год назад +1

      You need to transpose it to Eb, so read it down a whole step from where it is written.
