I found he Oak Meadow curriculum to be just as you described, more Waldorf inspired rather than true to the philosophy. I think it's a great choice for families who want to homeschool with a Waldorf curriculum but don't have the time to invest in the lesson planning that's required of Live-Education. We've been using Live-Education for several years, and I felt the same as you. It is not a curriculum that you can use if you plan to homeschool multiple ages and yet do all that the curriculum suggests. The way I worked around it was to homeschool everyone with the same unit lessons. So my 3rd and 7th grader would have the same lesson, but I'd require different work from each of them. I also reduced the amount of chalk drawings instead of doing them daily. We didn't go in order, even though I wished we could have. The exceptions were some skill-based learning in math and grammar. Thanks for sharing!

Pepper and Pine Thanks for your comment, Hana. It’s great that you found a way to make the Live Ed curriculum work for you and your family by adjusting it to your needs and circumstances. It is so important to note that whatever curriculum one chooses to remember that it is not written in stone. There is a misconception that there is one right way to do things in Waldorf education. Nothing could be further from the truth! While there are recommended subjects to teach at each grade level, even in a Waldorf school, the teacher has much freedom to use his or her creativity in creating lessons that meet the needs of the students one is teaching.

Thank you so much! I've been digging around on the internet all day. My daughter was attending kinder at a Waldorf school, but we've moved and she can't go anymore. Very sad for us all. After visiting the very convenient kinder two blocks away, I realized that public school is not for us. So, it's homeschool for us! Christopherus was one I was looking into, so your video was affirmation for me.

    Notas adicionales
The Waldorf method tickles my nose, so even though I'm not using it so strictly, I like to hear tips to see what applies to my family. We don't have a literal method, but if we really like experimentation, experience, although I do not deny you, a part of me always resorts to written verification, but I have discovered that as their little heads isolate concepts through the experiences, then they go relaxed to the text sheet. Thanks for your video.

Thank You. My 5 year old is in a Montessori school right now. We have a Waldorf Charter School in the area but it's still a big commute, it doesn't start until 1st grade. Currently he's bored. I have a feeling this may have to do more with the setting not the curriculum, still I'm think homeschooling may be our best option.Montessori makes sense to me. However I think Waldorf is wonderful and I want learn more, I just want to make sure what I find is correct so I understand. So Thank you.

Thank you for sharing some Waldorf resources. My 8 almost 9 year old son was going to a Montessori School and it is no longer working for him. He hates to go to school and the teacher has a long list of complaints about his behavior in class. We have limited options where we currently live, and the closest Waldorf School is almost 2 hour drive one way, so that is not an option. I am interested in homeschooling him and I am currently researching the best options. I like the Waldorf philosophy and it's promotion of loving to learn. So I am thinking Waldorf for him. Any further recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

    Hi Sarah, question:
Can you send your child to a state school and use the techniques at home? Only I can’t afford her to go to Steiner in Devon and I don’t think homeschooling would be a benefit for my daughter since she needs simulation from other children. Thanks!

I’m still new to the philosophy...less than a year into homeschooling my 6, now 7 year old. I’m using the Earthschooling curriculum and really enjoy it. It’s a lot of reading and a big learning curve, but I’m not sure if any other curriculum would be better since I’m still getting my feet wet with Waldorf.

Hi, i love your channel! I have some earthschooling materials but not one of the grade curriculums. I can't say how they compare to others, but I would say that it has a lot of extras and examples that ca be helpful, but the layout can sometimes get comfusing for me, in a way that is in stark contrast to how I process reading the information from the Christopherus materials. Constant "light bulb" moments when reading Donna's advice and explanantions.

Hi Sarah, I know this video is from a couple of years ago but I hope that you might see this comment and be able to reply. I am getting ready to start my homeschooling adventure with my daughter and I've decided to use the Christopherus curriculum from 1st through 8th grade. I'm not sure what to do about high school when we get to that point and luckily we have time to figure it out and I'll be able to get my daughter's input, but I'd like to start with an idea of the possibilities. If she will go to school outside of the home, I'd prefer it to be something similar to the high school that your son William went to. Would you mind sharing what kind of high school that was or maybe another nurturing option that you may know of? I'm also wondering what you think about using Oak Meadow as a high school curriculum, if we decide to continue with homeschooling, even if it might not follow the Waldorf ideals for the earlier years. Thank you!

Hi Sarah, I don’t live in the US, I live in Australia. I am looking at sending my sons to a Waldorf preschool but we will be unable to afford to send them from prep to end of high school to a Waldorf school. I have a question for you! What would you do if you couldn’t afford to send your children to a Waldorf school & also couldn’t afford to homeschool? We live in an expensive country and have a mortgage to pay and I will eventually need to return to work a few days a week no matter how much I want to implement Waldorf curriculums or send the kids to a Waldorf school! They will most likely go to a Catholic school or cheaper independent school in our area. How would you approach this as a parent who wants to continue a Waldorf approach at home but can’t at school? I hope that makes sense! Jane :)
