    Speaking as a black person on the Quinta dress, I understand her having it in a different colour than the super soft pink, because “dusky” colours like the one don’t always go well with darker skin tones, especially depending on the person’s undertones.They can make some of us look washed out, or ashy. I’m surprised she didn’t for an even brighter pink, like a brighter jewel tone? Those tend to really pop on our skin tones. I feel like colour wise it’s like too middle of the road to pop.
    But the wrinkles?! Chile I cannot with the wrinkles😮. My grandma would iron her down on the red carpet 😅.
    Wrinkles will never be fashion. I’d rather give up my (well loved) closet.

    • @M0odyBlue
      @M0odyBlue 4 месяца назад +22

      I think the wrinkles look better on the dusty rose because of the way the dress was cut. The wrinkles were all vertical, so it looked more intentional.

    • @harukosuiren
      @harukosuiren 4 месяца назад +12

      I feel like the fact that the light pink dress was much more loose, and less structured made the wrinkle "fit" better with the style.
      But Quinta's version is much more structured so the wrinkles just don't make sense with it. Which is sad because i actually like the cut and the fit of the dress on her. With a different fabric it would have looked chic on her. But the wrinkles just break it.

      Up close the "wrinkles" were clearly more of a textured pattern and not nearly so offensive. I think these big awards shows demand a formal long dress. Tea l ength, ankle don't cut it. If you are not going floor length then a mini and it better be very formal in fabric, additions and you better own it. A lot of those Christian Dior dresses remind me when of an era most of us including me don't know of ladies dressing even for for dinner at a house where floor length isn't appropriate (and maybe shorter dress were de rigeur -now that i think of it they show wedding dresses with that Dior silhouette from yester year.

    Jenna Ortega's dress immediately transported me to the English countryside of the Cotswolds where those flowers, called wisteria, grow everywhere, hanging off of ancient green lattices, as they grow very slowly and some are quite large. It was such a beautiful dress and I saw the English countryside reference immediately. Also, the Cotswolds are known for their prolific tea shops, so I thought the tea length also worked perfectly.

    Luke, those shoes on Mr Glover are Opera Slippers. Traditioally worn with a sheer black sock. The coat closure is a frog. Frogs have the extended loops, if its simple with a bar shape with the knot button its a Chinese knot. Ayos dress was gorgeous! I can see that with a white dress shirt under it, maybe French cuffed, and a different shoe for daytime. Even a skinny tigh turtleneck with boots. That dress is really versatile and a great shape. Ms Brunson appears to be wearing a "hammered satin" fabric. Sadly, it looks like an 8th grade school dance dress. Nothing even remotely soecial about it. Jenna Ortega looked fantastic. The flowers look to be wisteria and anothwr climbing flower, jasmine perhaps. Really lovely fabric. Ms Ross looked so good on the upper half but the different color white skirt was just unappealing to the eye. It made it look like it had a greyish tint, like it had been washed a million times. If that skirt matched the top better it would have looked fine. Ms. Henson looked so good in her Versace...that color was amazing on her. Im just so bored with Versace, its always the same basic shape with thigh high slits and some kind of fabric train. Variations on the bodices? Sure, but its still the same dress. No real design from them for years.

    The only thing I'm not a fan of with Jenna Ortega's dress - which is overall SO CUTE - is the colors. The colors don't seem to work for her, which is a shame, because if the colors had been more high contrast or darker, I think it would've looked so good !!

    It seems like designers and tailors could do so much better at fitting large, or even medium, busts. It feels like so little to expect of professionals, but I guess when models are expected to be more like clothes hangers than 3D humans, this can happen. Even the looks that worked were not necessarily the best fit. Versace’s busts fit super well in all their looks (not saying everyone wearing Versace was busty, just that they fit well) and it makes a huge difference!

    Quinta’s too tiny to wear a dress with too much going on. The wrinkles on her dress made her look terrible because it was just too much going on. She needs simple lines to use her proportions properly and have her dresses fitted to be fitted just so on her shorter body. She needs a style team like Nicey Nash Betts. She never misses on the red carpet, her body is always styled to perfection she looks like a bottle of perfume I always saw when I would go to the department store, her waist was snatched and that dress gave.

Let’s do collegiate blazers and sweaters with the elbow patches and scratchy wool scarves worn like ascots with brooches at the center 🤤 or girls in slim black turtlenecks with bolo ties and the big CC smack dab at the clavicle.
    Old school JCrew safari shirts with khaki and cream midis in streamlined silhouettes, with a spider or a lizard or a snake 😍

    The black leather Louis Vuitton dress in leather is one that alot of real life women could actually wear. You don't even need to be in great shape for this because the leather doesn't show every bump and the styling of the dress gives you a great shape.
