Asmara is a city stuck in time, and while most of the world has grown rapidly, very little has changed here in the last thirty years.
Sly i reaally loved your Eritrean content. Awesome job and objective. I am from the country side of Eritrea called Keren and also lived in Akurdet. I really wished you visited the rural areas. The content would have been way more fun than being in Asmara. Shout out to my Asmarino family. No offense 😆. My dad is from Asmara. But we grew up in Akurdet. With my mom’s parents. Both my parents were in the war in the 80s
Great Akurdet now it’s small village it destroyed by Ethiopian Army in the early seventies no one returned home unlike the other cities in current situation it will never change but who knows if the regime change people might return to their homes and start building their cities Akurdet where the revolution started doesn’t look good
@@Mrid1 trust me I was there. Being bombed by them in the 80s as a small child. I remember like it was yesterday. I’m 45. We left in 93. Over 30 years + But I remember the changing of armies each periods in the 80s. Either the Derg would capture it or EPLF would regain control. It was a battle. And the village suffered. I remember watching missiles freely flying down on homes near mine. Watching a whole family destroyed from a bomb 💣. Unfortunately
@@Mrid1 Geza Gobo. I missed our mountain 🏔️. My playground 😂 as a child or herding my grandfather’s cattle chasing after loose goats 😆 May he rest in peace. My beautiful homeland Akurdet. Lomi kab maado xibah misaki.
@@PoBoy_Trucker yes in early seventy was the biggest massacre after that the people left the town even in the sixties they were killing by the Ethiopian army history for this town goes back to the beginning of the revolution
@@Mrid1 i did somewhere hear that the start of the revolution was in Akurdet. I think. Interesting. Yes my parents met there in the mid 70s. He was a revolutionist who left Asmara as a teen. Meeting my mother in Akurdet.
We Love you bro...Love from Eritrea....Live Long.
Definitely my next plan is Eritrea
But I want to visit everywhere the whole country.
I heard about Dahlak Island that's will be my favorite thing to see😊
Let me worn you dont go to eritrea cuz its not what you think it is stay safe in your own country man why you think many eritrea people left they own country end run away somwhere else cuz its not save

Great presentation.
Thank you for visiting Asmara Medina!
This country has gone through hell. repetitive wars ,sanctioned and the youth brain drain in mass .they managed to overcome it though and survived .Now it's time to shine.
# it gets worse before it gets better.# Think investment .

@@karozimathestar929 why do you say "invest in YOUR leaders" ?

i'm eritrean thanks you bro it's true report
Our biggest treasure as an eritrean is our people, majority of our peaople are super nice and what makes our country safe . And @sly thank you for your nice and positive words 🙏🏼
Being nice is not a virtue. Especially not in the case of Eritreans as their totalitarian regime have expoited their naivete in order to control and deprive them of their freedoms.
Ehh i m from eritrea end people are rude like rude stop lying to people that dont life in eritrea one thing thats beautiful about eritrea is the respect for our church
@@semirakubrom9598 ati haftey ytehawaweseki alo , respecting your church and being rude is very hypocritical! Anyway people always reflect what you give, what you give is what you will receive 💯 so Change the way you treat people I said most so may be you're from the few rude people !

Welcome with truth News. Great man 👍👍👍👍👍❤ happy New yea 2024🎉🎉🎉
Much younger as you are to me, I must say you are such a wonderful and respectful young content creator.. I have enjoyed your Eritrea videos as a first time subscriber. You remind me of one beautiful Ethiopian lady vlogger by the name Feti's_ vlogs, whose videos are like tea (or coffee if in Ethiopia) and cake to me. I guess you'll know that as Africans, we value respect and that we get turned off by disrespectful language and childish behavior which are commonly passed off as content in many videos by other young people from your side of the planet, if you know what I am referring to.. I am working on touching down in Ethiopia and hopefully Eritrea sometime next year. Thanks for the advice and the experience you have shared on your trip there. It shows that Eritreans are wonderful people and one needs not to fear harm when in their country.. I wish you the best, health and safety on the next leg of your journey... (from Johannesburg)
Thank you darling god bless south africans❤❤❤❤
You are right bro! Eritrea is very safe for foreign people but monster for its own people because of the cruel regime in the country.
The same like here in South Africa.. It is a beautiful country but government corruption is ruining it all.. Crime is rampant because government officials, the Courts and the police take bribes day and night.. Two times I have been shot at and got missed by bullets. Only once, the man whom I knew got arrested but was freed by a Court in a manner that was obviously a corrupt decision by the magistrate...Yes.. we are not having the same issues that you have in Eritrea, but we envy you because you can walk the streets without fearing violent crime..

Thank you for visiting Asmara. Sadly you were unable visit outside capital due to the short of cash. My suggestion is before you travle you better discuss with Eritrean embassy in US and prepare someone back home to transfer you some money during your future visit.
😂 😂 shame! Wtf is that? You must be kidding 😂 Stone aged mf!
I CANT BELIEVE YOU SHOWED THE PLACE I LIVED ,IT WAS INFRONT OF THE GRAVEYARD OF VETERANS. ❤

Great video bro.
Thankfully bro ❤
Eritrea has an interesting access to the red sea which she used for International shipment.
Good video bro!
As long as they have this Genius as President there will be no future and unfortunately it looks like there is nobody around who could take over when he finally ends up in one of his own containers. This place will be the Titanic of Africa with him as Captain

Looks like you found something sweet that's holding you in Eritrea my brother...😀
It’s a really beautiful place🇪🇷
Asmera is beautiful ❤❤❤❤
Thanks Sly for taking us on tour of our capital city Asmera. I hoped you had a chance to visit Keren the 2nd largest city in Eritrea, a hub multicultural society. A city with world stage history due to the battle between Italians and English in the 2nd world War where the Italians were defeated.
Btw when you started to video I saw the house of my wife's family house on the left side, then I saw clearly our hang out place, city park.
I have enjoyed all your videos of Asmera. Thank you

Bro I get it you don’t want to talk about politics in the country but the truth is people flee the country in thousands every month for the last 25 years, because of lack of freedom on every aspect you might think of 😢
Interesting content
I have worked with a number of Eritrean expatriates. Excellent workers.
Asmara reminds me of Santiago de los Caballeros in the Dominican Republic in the 1970's and 1980's people new each other, hardley any crime, everyone walking around all hours of the night with out fear., and then we started to modernize, capitalism, american culture influece, we lost hour essence, we don't even obseve siesta anymore., but most call it progres.
You must come to Ethiopia
Congrats 100K
Happy New Year 2024 🇺🇸
Thanks for promoting bro. The main stream media smears full of dirt on this humble and disciplined country and gvn't. That is the most dirty side of politics.
lol...a million people escaped...what yo got
We don't need use any others currency ,we appreciated ur visit
Paying 550 in Asmara is straight robbery.
I like ur Eritrea assessment
I want to visit this city so badly. Lovely summary. Sorry, you were so restricted money wise.

That is not fair place for the people of Eritrea, Nothing changed for decades , life is hard under the dictatorship... but people are hard working, respectful.
Born a d raised in Eritrea now living in Sweden I like asmara more and offcourse the reason is its my home country but apart from that it was engineered by Italians and it gives a different vibe to live there. I used to take walk every day, temperature is average and the style feels you are in old style italy. Beleive me That style is far better than Dubai. It gives a better feeling.

Brah, , congratulations 🎉🎉🎉 on the 100k, Did you get your plaque as yet ...
Yes I love is my Cantri and you can go to ceren or massawa
Asmara Eritria looks like Cuba of Africa but very clean.
💀💀 dont ever disrespect cuba like that eritrea needs help man your own people are dying there cuba is fine they are all save
I am from Asmara. you are right it’s very expensive specially, with the wages you can get there and I understand you couldn’t go further with $700 specially the exchange and like you said you cannot even use any emergency credit card. Yes you can use credit card but you have to go to the government bank and it is costly to exchange it. It’s a horrible country. I left 42 years ago from there to Canada. I have been there a few times in between. I’m sad to see it this way. we have the worst dictator government. Used to be a beautiful country not anymore but thank you for your effort to go there and report what you can with limited resources..
So UR running UR mouth hiding in Candia....😊😊😊

sekt hasawi
That's exactly how it is, as long as this government with their great President is in charge nothing will change there sadly. People survive from money their relatives send from overseas or if lucky they get out.
A lot Eritreans live in Washington DC you see them at the airport
Nice
Nice video bro am going to Eritrea next month. Ive got so many questions for you :D Hit me up!
The population of Asmara is said to be arpund 800,000. But Alot of Eritreans left the country. Many young people who are born and raises in Asmara are also immigrants in Ethiopia, Uganda, whole Europe and USA, Canada right now. Eritrea has immensely lost its people.
@mesened Keep dreaming😂You’ve been telling us same story about Eritrea before the recent war. If many young people left the country who defeated you in the war? the old Eritreans😂 More than 40% of the immigrants claiming to be Eritreans are your people from Northern Ethiopia (Tigrians).
Keep fighting nothing is permanent, we need to come together to save our Country 💙💙💙
Super Tiny useless desert 🏜 land namned by ltalian called Eritrea.
@@erishekor i don’t want to argue with you because you are all over the place. Im talking about my city and my people and that we are (talking about us) refugees all over the world. This is a fact not game.
Why would the government change the the rate of exchange. Also thank you so much for visit and recording.
more money to the government!!
Such y a nice place and these ppl floc8k uk
A little tip for you. You need a lot more than $700 when you travel abroad.
This guy is a greedy man he never tip someone
Hello Sly, can you tell me what was the process for you to gain entrance to the country?
I am aware that visa is needed and maybe other permissions.
👉ERITREA💝🇪🇷👌👍👈 THE BLESSED LAND OF HEROES!!! its too precious for Eritreans!!!!!
Chill out eritrea is broke like what are you talking about didt you just watch the vidoe end its also not save
@semirakubrom9598 someone who's broken spirit & topped up with too much negativity are blinded from seeing or achieving any good!!! Despite the tremendous hardship sanctions & isolations that were indeded to break Eritrea apart, Eritrea prevailed!!!! 🇪🇷 it's progressing towards better & brighter future ✨️
@wiseman2732 just so you now i m christian evry day i pray to chirst to save poeple but its the trut eritrea is not save end i m not negatieve for saying this but smart cuz you are lying to people by saying eritrea is thr best eritrea is save its not its not save at all stop lying to people that lives outside eritrea
@@wiseman2732 i m not negatieve i speak the the truth chirst told us evrything we do we should do it in a good way end i didt say anything bad i said the trut so people that lives outside eritrea now the truth about eritrea you can be mad about it but again its the truth i m not negatieve cuz i speak the truth
@semirakubrom9598 your belief is your personal choice, You need to grow up mentally 🙄 change your mind set, have/achieve your goals in life 🙌 be constructive & contribute your knowledge & skills to make Eritrea 🇪🇷 better for all its citizens!!! Narrow minded person/ looser can't see brighter future! They can only see the negative & has plenty excuses to blame everyone. No other nation would withstand the uphill battle & hardship Eritreans Endured!!!! It's good to have constructive feedbacks! Be positive & optometric!!!
Women going about their business after dark is definitely a sign of a safe area. See that in Singapore and almost all Japanese cities.
Its not save att all cuz if it was save why many eritrea people are running away from there own country stop lying to people that lives outside eritrea lying is a sin
If you are afraid to walk in a sarker streets by yourself, go to Asmara, Eritrea. You will not have a problem at all ❤❤❤
If you see the city is empty then it's lunch time. The local culture is everybody goes home for Lunch even the children, high school, or employees they have have gathered together.
😂
If the creditcard did not work, why not use travellers check? It is a pity to travel and limit yourself only to the capital because of transaction problems.
Brother, Fly I told you I can remit $ your way so you can visit Massawa, but I haven't heard from you as of yet.
