    Hillary Brooke, also "The Woman in Green" in the Sherlock Holmes movie with Basil Rathbone I believe. Elegance, grace and beauty with a powerful screen presence, miss-cast as a reporter my opinion, beneath her stature.
    Great flick once it got rolling. Boy can you pick'em, thanks PF

      Very nice review, I remember Ms Brooke as Lou Costello's girlfriend, from his comedy tv show!
      HB was one of the few who rarely showed any skin in costumes ...

      Thanks Nk, that was a very nice compliment to Ms Brooke I'd say.
      Can't remember her on Costello's but she was riveting in the Holmes episode.

    I first remember seeing Hillary Brooke on "My Little Margie" (1952-1955). I was 7 years old, I thought she was so beautiful. She was comfortable doing both drama and comedy. Born September 08, 1914, died May 25, 1999. Her career spanned from 1937 to 1960. Happy viewing from Las Vegas, NV April 25, 2019

    First time I saw Philip Reed was in the science fiction movie UNKNOWN ISLAND (1948), also with Richard Denning, Virginia Grey, and Barton MacLane. Reed starred as a paleontologist trying to charter a voyage by way of steamship to the titular locality that’s inhabited by prehistoric dinosaurs; Richard Denning headed the small cast as a beachcomber who gets shanghaied courtesy of the ship’s brutish skipper. This cheap movie was a ripoff of KING KONG (1933), and can be seen on RUclips.

    • @againstallodds3300
      @againstallodds3300 3 года назад +1

      @Alphonso Zorro People with bad English are not a minority, methinks, but rather the vast majority. And this is true of the people of any other country and their command of their respective mother tongues. Or is your country the proverbial exception that proves the rule?

    • @briseboy
      @briseboy 2 года назад

      @@againstallodds3300 CORRECT translation of "Exceptio probat regulum" = Exception TESTS the rule. Exception PROBES the rule, is also correct.
      In modern English, ""proves" CANNOT be used in translation of this Latin word, as it give the wrong, FALSE, meaning to this phrase.

    • @againstallodds3300
      @againstallodds3300 2 года назад

      @george mira I beg to differ. In English it's The exception PROVES the rule, in German it is Ausnahmen BESTÄTIGEN die Regel, and in French it is L'exception PROUVE la règle. The exception does not, as suggested by you, test or probe the rule but does, in fact, prove it. Otherwise the sentence would make no sense. The homonym 'probare' can have different meanings, and, given the similar spelling of the three verbs, I would not be too surprised if the English verb "to prove" and the French verb "prouver" were of Latin origin anyway. Besides, it is "regulam" (accusative singular of Latin 'regula').
