This is such a great demo! Our pickups certainly give you multiple voicings that accommodate almost every playing style. Thanks again for taking the time to review our pickups. ~ken
Yeah. I have just ordered a 5 strings set because of this video.
I own a Schecter with Fishman pups. Best bass I've owned... Probably the last, too. I love it.
Fishman often go over looked. Some of the best in the business
Ken are these pickups low impedance with a built in preamp like EMG? Curious about the nerdy specs I am. Ceramic? Alnico? Thanks!
Are these still available? all I want now is a bass that's Greg Koch with four strings
Ida is the “Stig” of bass instrument testers. Ultimate talent.
The Stig you say? A person of culture I see. So would she be the Stig's bass playing cousin?
When he says panga panga...
I felt that
I start a little exotic dance!
I will NEVER get tired of that
That's a secret mantra... lol
I’ve been rewinding the “panga panga” part repeatedly 😂😂
muppet show voice :))))))
I've played Cort basses since 1999. Own 4 of em, fantastic builds and smooth frets
This is a beautiful instrument.
I wonder what kind of oil they used to get that satin finish. It looks amazing.
The bass tone in the beginning is what I always aim for.
This sounds so great, it is incredible.
It's always a pleasure listening to Ida's playing!
i've been using cort bass for 10 years and counting. Quality is excellence at its price
As secondary bass
You should have bad bass players demoing the instruments. Ida Nielsen is amazing, I bet she can make any shitty bass groove!
Haha great idea. I’ll do some reviews 🤣
I volunteer myself!
hahaa! There are so many bass demos made by bad bassists actually (most are guitarists)... and everyone gets mad at them.
That's the point, expensive gear doesn't make you a better player.
Fact.
I built a neck-thru fretless during lockdown and used Fluence pickups. I absolutley love the tones I can get from them.
Sounds and looks great. The 3-way voicing reminds me of the 3-way switch on an EBMM Sterling (series, parallel, single coil). I think the only complaint I have about this Cort is I wish the front looked like the back!
Recently picked this bass up. it's tight. Plays like butter and the sustain is nice. I am not totally thrilled with the pots, but it makes up for it with playability and tone. I strongly suggest to try one if your are in the market. For me its a cozy fit and it chimes like a bell.
Your demo was well appreciated and convinced me to order the 5 string version. I got my 5 string A5 Ultra Ash 2 days ago and I am very pleased with it. Great modern as well as warm classic tones, nice finishing and smooth playability. I ordered it from Gear4Music so it had to be sent to me from UK to Belgium (apparently the only one I could find in stock in Europe). Arrival was within 3 days after order. I had to pay approx. 50 Euro income tax, but that is not Cort's fault. Blame the Brexiteers for that.
@Blue Diligence Hey, I'm considering to order this one but Ive read some negative reviews regarding the intonation on the low B string with Hipshots transtone bridge. Can you get a proper intonation on the 12th and 24th fret of the low B string ? Also, could you share the weight of this 5 string ? Would love to hear your experience. Thanks in advance !
@@_Alexander Hi. Not encountered a problem with intonation. I have replaced the D'Addario strings with Gallistrings Synthesis BSN40120 though. I'm not so much a fan of D'Addario strings for Bass. The Gallistrings are thinner. The pick-ups of the Bass produce a lot of bass. Hence the lighter strings are a better match in my opinion. Regarding weight ... not sure what the exact weight is, however compared with my Fender jazz Bass, it's in my opinion somewhat lighter.
@@bluediligence7842 Great, thanks for your feedback :)
Brexiteers! Fuckin love that, and nice write up man 👍
She can play, impeccable timing and groove.
Wow, the sound of the intro piece is absolutely FAB! One little point of critique though: (for me) to be able to hear the difference of sounds with the 3-way toggle switch, it would have been nice if Ida had played the same lick the same way. Now she played slap with one setting and finger style with another, which does not tell me anything useful about the difference in settings. For the rest a beautiful bass :-)
Wow, Ida is a great player!
I'm considering a Cort Artisan B model and they do a left-handed version too. After buying a cheaper Cort bass recently I was surprised at the quality but there are so many names out there it's a minefield when trying to make a choice..
Ida can make any wood stick with pick ups groove.
Dude, what a beautiful bass!
Holy cow you got Ida Nielsen on the show! :O
sounds really well ..an Ida ..oh man ..she plays amazing.
I've had my Artisan B5 for many years now, and it's an excellent affordable bass. I can imagine the better series are just... better :D
That’s the amazing part: they’re not! They’re more expensive because they’re more difficult to build and in this case here the pickups add some serious $$, but the general quality is always the same. The current B5 is my favorite
Amazing stuff. I'd love to see one in a multiscale as well with the Fishmans.
Can't really get better bass demonstrators than Prince alumni!
That might be the prettiest bass I've ever seen
you guys need to review more 6 string basses. and please spend time with the low B and high C.
Sweet bass. I dig Ida’s funky playing!
"These pickups can do WHAT ?"
Sounds like a Davie504 video title haha

I slapped like NOW on your comment.
He also owned the red one of this model.
I can't wait for the video where you talk gear and interview Ida. Fingers crossed for this Friday !
This is growing on me. It even comes with a case!
I like EMG pickups and I don't have to experiment anymore. I have tried them all.
wow wonderful. good shape and sound
Hmm... I'd like to try it!
That's so cool, I love the look
On another note (no pun intended), awesome demo guys, many. thanks, also just listened to your latest post a pleasure to hear, fantastic work, much love xx
Wow that's a real good pun 😁 I love it
I love this lady's excellent and snappy playing. You should use her some more!
That looks and sounds like an expensive bass! Cort makes excellent basses at a real reasonable price.
Koreans are always known for that...selling products big n cheap. Sometimes it's a hit...other times a miss. Depends on ur luck 😁
I love that bass and I love the way that woman plays it!
My luthier is installing a set on a parts bass I put together and I should have it soon.I am really anxious to hear them in person.
1:27 loveliest point
A Lady Rocking it out ... That is seriously awesome, and seriously inspiring.
You go girl. Rock on !!!
Thank you very much for the great review.
I was really surprised to see that you can get a beautiful crafted bass like this, with a through body, at this price ... 🤯
I will definitely go check it out ... Just as soon as our country receives stock ... 😳
Anywho, thanks again.
And again, my compliments to the lady who played the bass. Rock On !!! 🤘😎
Girl? Think she's old enough to be my mom.😂😂 (I am 32 by the way). But then yeah she's killing it on the bass
Yeah, it sure sounds incredible
Damn, that sounds sooooo funky!
Ida is fantastic!
Cort are great basses indeed.
What does it weigh? It seems to be very light from how you handle it. Or you have secretly pumped some weights during the shutdown.
That bass seems awesome, but Ida’s playing is the real highlight of this video.
Cort are my favorite bass manufacturer but tbh you could give ida a 20 bucks wish bass she'd still make it sound amazing
Nice demo 👍
OMG PANGA PANGA MAN STRIKES BACK!!!!
Will there be a 5-String version?
They do make the pickups in a 5 string version. I guess if the 4 sells well they will look at making a 5er
@@chriscuthbertson Yes, hopefully they will do the 5 String in a nice Black-Faded-Optics so that the more Metal-Bass-Market could be accessed...
I think schecter have one with 5 string..
@@RadityoPramAdi I am used to 34" and Schecter has a longer scale length. If the bases come anyway out of the same big factories in Asia I would prefer a cheaper 5 string Cort Version, I also find the Cort Body and Neck shape very comfortable.
這把琴的木紋跟這位阿嬤臉上的皺紋很搭.
How was the bass recorded? Is it straight into the interface or was a compressor used somewhere in the chain? Or is it the preamp/pickups that compress a bit?
Directly, but we used EQ and compression in post production
Hi there! What can u say about the neck profile, slim, thick? Thanks in advance!
Ida can even groove with a piece of 2 x 4.
saw davie used one. liked the look so much haha
Ida is the beez kneez!
Looks like a possible winner with the possible exception that the bridge does not allow for top loading or rear loading of the string, is this correct? Is this string through body only?
They’re wonderful basses …….!
Hermoso!!! Left hand?
Cort? they still around? I remember they were the cheapest instruments you could get right beside Kay. like something you could find at Woolworths.
very nice , I like it
The finger style sound is terrific. The slap sound....not so IMO, which is ok with me as I'm not a slapper.
Just curious, why no mid control? Some (myself included like to occasionally boost/cut mids as appropriate ). Great video as usual though :-)
Good video and great playing from Ida but, you never talked about the neck profile, the nut width or the weight of the bass, all very important information required in a review IMHO
Cort ever get over that whole horrible labor conditions thing?
wow is a beauty omg!!!
Neat lookin bass...not so sure about the pickups....a bit anemic... I do like their headstock!
Where is it made?
in Indonesia
Nice looking bass. I wish my Spector had a separate battery compartment, rather than hiding it behind the shroud which covers the rest of the electronics.
Maybe you can install a battery compartment in the cover?!
@@basstheworldofficial seems like a sensible thing to do. Thanks. Will look into it.
I've had a Cort B4 with Mk1 Bartolinis. The bass produced incredibly rich sound but the articulation was abysmal. Trying to play fast syncopated stuff through a funk mix you could only hear very rough and coarse definitions of when each note stopped and when the next began. It felt as if the bass had an inherent... reverb into it. I got rid of it eventually.
I NEED HELP: Hello there, my son (he really is a 16yo bass prodigy) learned
bass through my old Ibanez GRS200. Now he selected Cort A4 plus as his
next and serious bass. Is it worthy if I manage to put extra cash to
order him an A4 ultra instead of A4 plus? I know that tone diversity is
something important on his mind but ~700€ compared to ~1200€ is a big
difference in cost. Please share your opinion.
Dear Gregor, did you do a review about Cort GB94 ? And Aria Pro II ST1504 ? Many thanks in advance.
Phil from Dunkirk.
Nope, sorry
@@basstheworldofficial Ah OK.... and will you schedule a review for these bass ?
@@ALIASZARDOZ I don't know. At least not in the next months. Our schedule is full throughout summer at this point
@@basstheworldofficial Ahhh OK. Don't forget : You are the Best. I like your channel, interviews and music.
Phil.
Beautiful bass but 10 pounds of weight are lower back and shoulder breakers.
It sounds like a P bass with really clear highs. Not my style but a cool bass nonetheless
It’s IDA tho 👍🏻
I picked up my warwick fortress for less than this. It’s German made and has the most versatile pickup system I’ve tried to date. 1000$+ is just a lot for a cort instrument to me.
Sound is not a matter of price. If Warwick would built excatly this Bass in Germany the price would be much more higher. Korea quality is now a days on a very high Level
Weight?
I have the same pickups in my spector and it does it all IMO it's sounds amazing and make the bass very versatile🤘
Love my spector
Is there any plan to have 5 string version?
How much does it weight?
I've noticed your new clickbait-y aprroach to thumbnail and title, and I'd like to say that I prefer your old style more but if you'd like to try new stuff that's fine, from a long time fan.
Agree.
I usually hate putting myself in the thumbnail, that's why I never do it. But I came across this frame and thought it looks funny, so I went with it for once. "Unfortunately" this video here is doing so well that we might have to see this more often in future. Please bare with me... I don't like it. But if it helps to make our videos be seen by more people, it would be stupid to ignore it.
@@basstheworldofficial That's understandable - thanks for the explanation. As long as your content doesn't change it will continue to be a great channel!
The “thumbnail” Jesus. People will complain about literally anything...
I forgot to ask if the frets are stainless steel on this.
is that WAL sound at 3:09?
01:27
The 34" scale neck is made from maple and what, mate?
Anyway, that bass is absolutely gorgeous and sounds amazing (maybe that has something to do with the secret ingredient that goes along with the maple?).
Panga Panga. looks and sounds like Wenge
@@basstheworldofficial Thank you for the information!
Man, Ida Nielsen positively *THUMPS*
IDA!!!
Sorry if this is a repeat question...not sure if my first attempt went through... What is the neck profile like? I wish Cort would give this information on their website. I'd buy this in a heartbeat so long as the neck is beefier than a Soundgear bass.
this is the chunkiest Cort neck I've tried so far. Might be just right for you.
@@basstheworldofficial Great! So, in terms of chunkiness, is it like a jazz bass neck? I'm assuming the nut width is near 1.5"?
Beautiful! Sounds great! :) I can't help but think of the Cort Effector guitar I bought from Sears when I was twelve? Can BTW review one of those? ;) Stay healthy guys, love the videos!-Brent
Hi! Just a question from my end, I'm looking for a good quality 4 string bass. How you'll define this bass with a sandberg california tt4 sl? I mean that's an absolutely different vibe, but this bass can also emulate the tone of that jazz bass area right? So just let me know about the craftsmenship and bulit quality comparison. Thank you! Looking for an honest feedback from you Greg!
#sugataroypalodhi
That’s a completely different genre. If you like the SL, then this particular Cort is not the right choice for you. If they made a B4 with these pickups, then maybe yes
@@basstheworldofficial oh wow! Okay! That's amaze! I think maybe because of the weight right? I used to own a cort artisan a4opo(open pore ovankol) I know the feel of an artisan bass but it's damn heavy due to such amazing tone woods.
I thought of asking you because you're very close to sandberg and I recently fell in love with the tt sl bass! I think it's one of best jazz basses in the world! And within that price! #sugataroypalodhi
@@SugataRoyPalodhi no, it's not the weight. This Cort is neck-thru and uses hard woods, which gives it a completely different character. The SL is pretty much a Jazz Bass, a light one, but sound-wise still a Jazz Bass
@@basstheworldofficial yes! I would love to get that tone! Looking forward for a sandberg ❤️
Also planning to change the pickups of my first bass (cort action Vdlx) and putting these fishman beauties over there! #sugataroypalodhi
they should release this bass on 5 strings
Yes I've a A5 of nearly 2007, it's good, the strings are a little bit to close top slap confortablely
Hi Gregor, how did you get Ida in your studio ? Crazy
by car
Is that a Vox bass in the hack on the left behind him? What model is it?
Musicvox Spaceranger
What is the neck profile like? Is it a little beefier than an Ibanez SR?
yes
5 string version when :(
how much money is it?
Cort needs to bring out 5 strings.🔥
A 5 string model actually exist, check Artisan A5 Ultra Ash
@@MathewJs Thanks dude.
If I replaced the bridge with a 17mm one would I ruin anything?
Does anyone know the name of the first track Ida is playing (0:05-0:31) ?
Don’t know the track, but it’s probably from her new album
By any chance do u know if there making a 5 string version
they do not, but I'm sure that will follow soon
