    Great video Jonas. That ERT300 is indeed very helpful. Just a side note, you do get a better accurate reading if you place the ERT, on the 9th cross going from bottom to top, instead of in the middle kinda. Cheers.

      Is this different for 18x20 racquets?

  • @docstranger9520

    I think you need to remove dampener before testing. I get more accurate results without dampener in string bed

      @scottduncan9495 8 месяцев назад

      Yes, you need to remove the dampener. The machine is measuring vibration vs. stiffness. Stiffer things vibrate differently…think tension on guitar strings.
      If you dampen the vibration, it confuses the machine.

    What’s the lowest reading it can give? Ie could it be used for badminton? Thank you.

    Nice gadget, but in 2023, it’s criminal to require a cardboard disc that can easily get misplaced!

    • @docstranger9520
      @docstranger9520 9 месяцев назад

      It fits in case with ERT. Seeing as the computer stays in the case at all times when not using you’ll never lose the disc

      Agreed. It is puzzling to me why the tension conversions can't be displayed on the unit itself.

    Is there a difference to the old yellow version that I have used for almost 15 years now? Any reason to upgrade?

    Hi Jonas, nothing to do with the video but i just rewatched the forehand video with nikki and it is so good, it is my guide for when i fell a bit off. Is there a chance you can do one about serve with him? I love how he explains

      Any chance you’re confusing our TennisNerd Jonas here with Intuitive Tennis’ Nikola Aracic?

    Does anyone know how reliable this is for hybrid setups? Poly drops tension much faster than multi strings. I’m not sure which string (main or cross) that the device is measuring.

    How does the system work with different stringing weights? I string with 24/23kg, which would result in a DT of x. Is there another combination, e.g. 23.5/23.5kg, which gives the same DT?

    Aren't there cheaper devices (by Gamma/Tourna) that measure the string tension ? Why would someone spend 5-10 times more on this kind of device instead of those ? Thanks !

    • @ChungkingExpress1996
      @ChungkingExpress1996 9 месяцев назад

      Agree. I don't get it. If Jonas is going to translate it into lb/kg tension anyway, why not use a much simpler tension meter that costs $25-30?

    • @chmk98
      @chmk98 9 месяцев назад +1

      The ERT300 shows you the DT value, which is much more accurate than kg/lbs as there are different racquets and strings.
      Kg/lbs are reference values.
      A racquet with a 16/19 stringing pattern comes out of the machine differently than a racquet with an 18/20 stringing pattern.
      If you want to know exactly how the many materials work together: Racket, stringing pattern, string type, string diameter etc., the ERT300 is extremely accurate.
      It also helps you to always check your work exactly.

      @@chmk98 so it's like we intuitively string lower on the same kind of frame (head size beam width , static weight , sw) but an 18x20 compared to a 16x19 , this would measure that DT and would likely show that even when you string the 18x20 lower in DT it's very close to the 16x19 at a slightly higher tension ?

    • @chmk98
      @chmk98 9 месяцев назад

      Yes, that would come close.
      With the same set up you will have a slightly higher DT in this example with the 18/20 stringing pattern compared to the 16/19.
      In my opinion the ERT300 is the perfect tool to understand how all these factors create the stringbed stiffness.@@euLIRIC
