    open mind! great chat, and some great points. i really believe in keeping an open mind with racquets. i accidentally found my favorite racquet by just screwing around and grabbing something on super sale. this racquet was, on paper, NOT the racquet for me. i was playing the pure aero 100 happily, and wound up moving to a tecnifibre tf40 305... so far from the type of racquet i was used to. not "my style". but it's magic. for me. just try something illogical.

    Nik, consider these frames: Head Graphene XT Radical MP - 98 in - 16 Mains / 19 Crosses, Head Graphene XT Radical - 102 in - 16 Mains / 19 Crosses. Don’t let the price fool you. These are very good frames as is and can be improved further with some weight in the handle for stability. Unfortunately they are often back ordered on TW. Good luck with your quest Nick.

    I think Agassi's Radical with 18x19 is still the best oversized racquet with great control. Playing with it you understand immediately, why he could hit those returns :)
    A bit heavy for today's fast topspin game.
    Also it is fun to watch Nikola falling into that bottomless black hole as all of us... 😂

      @robertdenner2569 I think from the Microgel they started to sell as 295 gram, but the Bumblebee and the Zebra was 320 g at least. Mines are about 345-350 g with overgrip and strings.

    I feel like it's like this. You have the racket you LOVE to play with, but only where you're the dominant player out of the 2 (it's like the vintage weekend driver). Then you have the racket that gets the job done when you're having to play with someone who might be better than you (the modern practical daily driver).

    My opinion is that Nick should switch to the Yonex Percept 100, because it ticks almost all of his requirements. Feeling, control, power, backhand sensation, etc. That is from the observation from the video and his own words.
    But at the end it's his choice, he should go with what makes him feel the best.

    Great conversation! Similarly to you Jonas, I think I have finally found the racquet for me, in terms of giving me some more help for my game and not taking my confidence away. My racquet is the ezone 100, funny that Nikola finds it so bad, as for me it is definitely the best racquet that I have tried in the last 3-4 years. Funny how this topic is sooo individual. Saludos amigo!

      I’m using a pair of 2020 (6th Gen) Yonex Ezone 100s. They felt a little like toy racquets initially but after adding some tungsten putty to the handles, the stability improved and I have been enjoying them ever since. Hoping to pick up a pair of the 7th Gen when they go on sale soon….

    how are you guys feeling about racket getting "worn out" by stringing it? do you feel they tend to lose pop/power?? I tend to believe that strings/temperature/etc has more impact on the feel than deterioration of frame.

    • @sasharosic6765
      @sasharosic6765 Месяц назад

      I think they mean after a few years of use, the racket frame can become “mushy” and less stable/solid. I saw a video of Federer saying this when he was talking about his signature racket and what he has used.

    Take a Pure drive 100 27.5 cut 1/4 or so off to your preference, lowers swing weight for your fore hand under match play pressure, still good on backhand, great on your flat serve and can still kick second. String 1.25 revolve black round @ 44 to 50 depending on weather and ball differences. Maybe new model ?

    You need to look for rackets that play your style: if not you have to be willing to change your technique a bit and adjust to them.

    "Choosing a racket is like a personal connection, like you choose your gilrfriend, like you choose a car. It's just this 'Oh, this feels good'."
    What a comparison! 🤣🤣🤣

  • @LarzB
    @LarzB Месяц назад +1

    I understand the just one racket, as they swing differently. BUT i have several different rackets that are all control oriented, thinner beam, flexibility below ra64 AND i have matched them all to one exact spec. The differences between the rackets are then much less and changing racket doesn't mess up the timing.
    So it is possible to play with multiple different rackets, but you really have to dail the racket specs so they swing the same. Then you are left with the actual differences from the rackets. I also use the exact same string setup in all of them

    I am willing to give Sinner the benefit of the doubt (although the story sounds quite fishy i must admit) but i am not sure i believe that small amounts of Clostebol would have no benefit anyway. I am no pharmacist but if microdosing is a thing and Clostebol has short half life i still think it could have an effect. If Sinner has a weakness it's his physical durability and if Clostebol helps his regeneration that could be meaningful.
