Instead of scribing/marking the hood hinges, we used to drill a 1/8" hole through the hinge into the bottom of the hood. Then you just insert 1/8" drill bits while lining up the hood.

That is a great idea! Especially so in a situation where you may be repainting the hood and may not see the scribe marks well. Thanks for the tip. I will hold onto it for the future.
