    Watching this profile was super enjoyable. The love for the clan is very apparent and I learned quite a bit watching through.
    A lot of the mentalities and justifications for your unit choices reminds me of how I went through Granblue, albiet I didn't got through most of the tech myself.
    I never thought to completely, excluding Penguin, ignore the back row with Aqua Force and it totally makes sense now that we have Accel Circles. And I do understand the frustration of losing out on some really good units that were intended to be boosters haha!
    Another thing that I really appreciated was your tid bits on the Gyze and Ichi Tom match up because it just adds thst extra bit to show how much you have considered the deck at different angles and not just "I like this combo let's make sure I can do this."
    I'll be honest, the only videos of yours I watch are your deck profiles and I'm a big fan of how you explain as if you were in a one on one discussion or lecture with whoever is watching and it makes it very educational and the information sticks.
    Haha if only I had the same sort of audience as you do! :P
    Anyways, cheers on the deck! I can see all the potential this has and hopefully one day, High Tide could be replaced with something else.
    IMO, I would considered running a 10k unit just to bolster up your defenses when you ride. I know you mentioned that you don't like Eldermoss, but as a 10k body he can serve a purpose.
    And plus since you do just tech the Engulf in your G Zone, why not make your opponent lose out on the ability to guard with 1s as well right? Just a small suggestion that branched from my idea of running both Commador Bluebloods in Granblue. :)

    I'm so glad you understand the front conundrum. Nova suffers from this too. Fronts just aren't as great as people first thought. Just like stands, tanking damage is just too predictable with fronts, and AqF in particular for standard is super reliant on pressure plays? Do I let him hit and restand his Maelstrom or take two damage to the face? Fronts just don't cut it.

    I agree with most of the argument for your deck choices. I was think most of the video about running a small ripple engine with the turtle to provide some plusses and early game. But, it seems you wanted to made another deck for that. I look forward to that deck profile.
    I wanted to ask... I know you finally decided 4 maelstrom for the foil(which is a valid option in my book xd) . But isn't navalgazer a better g3 since it provides better play in case you ride G3 first? You may not always want to use it, but it is another option for the deck.

    • @SolemnVanguard
      @SolemnVanguard  6 лет назад +1

      I'd say it's better to either go hard on the ripple engine or not run it at all. Turtle is extremely risky when you're not going all in on the rush.
      I do get the Naval argument but then again; why would I want to commit pieces when not striding? Sounds hella risky.
      I guess when your hand is hella flooded with Tidals, it's fine-ish, but that still requires you to commit 2 RGs to the board to get the double restand off and those plays are stopped by a single defensive.

    • @khinzaw77
      @khinzaw77 5 лет назад

      @@SolemnVanguard Don't know if you're still checking this, but what about Gondikas? It has no Vanguard skill but gives an accel circle and gains 5K on rear guard. If you already have your ultimate stride fodder you could commit one as a rear guard.

    Dude what do you think will happen to chrono jet? Do u think he’ll get some support?

  • @Prinny_421
    @Prinny_421 6 лет назад

    Also, as an added note, on Megiddo turn, that extra card called from hand can also swing with a +10k. Megiddo gives ALL called units from it's skill switch, meaning that extra call can be the last attacker. Take note: LAST ATTACKER. If you ever switch with it before going through the other units, they're now stuck on non-accel circles, since that unit called from hand did not gain the switch from Megiddo.
    BTW Solemn, Was Koralia a bad card to add here, even as a 1 of?

    • @SolemnVanguard
      @SolemnVanguard  6 лет назад

      You can do that yes, but usually I will use a Light Signals Penguin Soldier as my extra call, which will die on 4th battle :) But if it's not light signals, you can absolutely do that indeed!
      I heavily disliked Koralia. Unlike stride fodders, with Koralia you don't get to choose what you discard. You HAVE TO get rid of the g3... Meaning you lose out on a valuable piece/you may not have stride fodder.

  • @GustavoVollmerXXI

    Solemn Vanguard
    For an alternative g2 option, why not go V Basil? He fulfills the same role as High Tide. The stipulation here is that there is 1 additional battle rather than a GB restriction, and considering your counter charge options, you can be even more aggressive.
    Another thing I want to point out, is Maelstrom skill as a Vanguard nets you a bit more advantage (should you ride g3 1st) since players will more often than not guard attacks 3 and 4.
    7 G Guards seem a bit excessive, but okay. And another option here is Colburn, for decks that can keep a ridiculous amount of hand (even through all the Alexandros nonsense).

    • @SolemnVanguard
      @SolemnVanguard  6 лет назад +1

      Basil isn't more aggressive than High Tide though... And I value CB over SB by a margin of 500 in this deck so would definitely not run Basil.
      7 G guards may be excessive but what stride option would you even add? Commander is literal ass. Wailing is mehh (just as mehh as engulf so have your pick).
      Aqua Force has 2 viable strides; Lambros and Alexandros. I have used the variety of G guardians I currently use in various matchups so I do appreciate them being there, whilst I have never ever ever ever ever missed my commanders.
      Colburn is indeed an option and I'm watching my playtesting. If I'm in a situation where I need it, I make a mental note of it. It doesn't come up that often though.

  • @willhelm94

    Have you considered Algos in that Hight Tide slot? Algos becomes a great ride target, improving aour G2 game by an insane amount, if you get a Tidal as well. It will also help you draw 2 cards from Bubble Edge without having to draw (and commit) 2 Tidals. He will also synergise well when (if) you actually stride Maelstrom and help enable Lambros without having to spend any other restanders.
    Also, I'd say that in this deck, Navalgazer is noticably better than Maelstrom. He gives you a much better g3 turn in case you ride 1st (by choice, not by going 1st!). He will enable way more combos than Maelstrom (I mean, he's half of an Alexandros in a way). Also, in certain cases he can even enable you to draw 3 from Bubble Edge.
    Otherwise, great deck profile, love the analysis and the Jellyfish Soldier teck (did you just assume its gender tho?!?!?!? xDD).

    • @SolemnVanguard
      @SolemnVanguard  6 лет назад +1

      - Running 2 Algos is weird. It's unlikely you'll see it early at 2 and beyond that; it forces you to commit a valuable RG slot early. (if not 2...) And any not-awful player will punish you for it. If you're gonna play a rush variant, the ripple deck is far superior imo.
      - You don't need to use Algos or restander to get Lambros off since you have an accel circle. (Also; if you're not seeing restanders, you have lost)
      - A g3 turn that is stopped by a single defensive and forces you to sacrifice minimum 1 piece (usually 2). Again; any not-awful player will punish you extremely hard for this. He's not half an Alexandros either. Naval's restood unit only does damage when you hit triggers or if it's on an accel circle AND they don't get any defensives in your first 3 swings. That's a lot of ifs. I'm not sure I see the 3 draws from Bubble Edge. You have to be committing an awful lot of non-hitting pieces to the board in order to do that. You'd be minusing more than you could ever plus off bubble.
      I'd say that the fact that the Maelstrom is an SVR and thus thicker and thus is like 10% more likely to land on top of the deck when an opponent cuts (try it :P), outweighs the extreme situations in which Navalgazer could possibly be better. (Yes, this is hyperbole)

    • @renewilksen4017
      @renewilksen4017 6 лет назад +2

      I got some arguments against Algos and agree on Navalgazer:
      Against Algos
      1. Algos costs Counter Blast that the deck already uses alot
      2. Like he said, you will not call (alot) on your G2 turn, because u will lose your rearguards
      Pro Navalgazer
      You are right on that G3 Navalgazer turn, he reminds me of Anger-Boil GB2 which people overlooked alot when i played Blue Wave. Maelstrom skill isnt that good.
      tl;dr:
      High Tide > Algos
      Navalgazer > Maelstrom (Swap Engulf into Wailing)

    • @TheNeoDaedalus
      @TheNeoDaedalus 6 лет назад +1

      @@SolemnVanguard Actually thr thing I like algos for is that he can help you commit less in some circumstances. In the case of Lambros you need only to commit algos and a Tidal to get the full combo off. In the early game he enables 4 battles with a tidal alone, where tidal can swing at a rear, algos anywhere, restands Tidal and can pass on triggers onto tidal who will swing twice after that. It's a good way to push for early damage against certain decks and it can help clear rgs vs. Decks that rely on them. Don't forget that Algos can always swing at rears and get his abilities off, helping you get rid of intercepters (shield!) without risking a defensive trigger for a very small investment.
      And again, getting bubble edge off before they get a chance to retire it is great, since you'd only be riding algos and committing only tidal to get it off once (or another any unit to proc it twice).
      If I've learnt anything from srandard and AqF is how valuable restanding that procs on attacking rears is and algos can incorporate that very well into premium. Also, in case you don't recognise me, I'm OceanDragonLord on reddit and discord and I'd be happy to continue this debate there if you'd like ;)

      True. I tested out your deck in CFA and it's pretty solid as it is. The number of G3s make it more susceptible to rush decks but once it strides, it catches up fast. Perhaps Shotgun Assault can replace him just in case you 1st turn Maelstrom but you'll lose the extra +2k power. I'm still running Adelaide in case I'm forced to ride Thavas and so far, it's alright.

      @SolemnVanguard  6 лет назад

      I hope this is bait

    • @TheSpartanS196
      @TheSpartanS196 6 лет назад

      It isn't. You basically said the vg is vanilla other than the accel, in any case. And that you don't run 4x diamantes because "you don't wanna use him as stride cost for megiddo". But if you run 4, one on vg and one for stride, you have still 2 not used for that purpose.
      ...which means you, even with a diamantes as a vg and one for ultimate stride, have the same number of "rear guard diamantes" you'd have running two with a non-diamantes vanguard. So running 2 because you don"t wanna waste it on VG doesn't make any sense because WORST CASE SCENARIO you still have two. Otherwise they're 3 or 4. Also, since the vanguard is a "vanilla with accel" anyway, at that point fuck Maelstrom and let's only play rg based g3s, so in this case the non-navalgazer guy from.the trial case is still better than a also-vanilla-on-RG Maelstrom not even used for its name support.

    • @TheSpartanS196
      @TheSpartanS196 6 лет назад

      I mean, you don't still wanna run 4 diamantes? Ok, but still swapping maelstrom with the trial deck guy would improve since your always vanilla accel makers become rear-guard useful accel makers.

    • @SolemnVanguard
      @SolemnVanguard  6 лет назад

      But I NEVER wanna have dia on VG that's the whole damn point. the chance that you see your other dia when you have 1 on VG and 1 on rg is abysmally low.
      Running 2 boys from the TD is awful because you never want to have that on VG either. Your VG essentially needs to be something that's not a piece.
      I could understand 4 Naval 4 thavas 2 dia. Again; naval being VG-only and being ran at 4 maximizes the chance you'll be able to ultimate stride when necessary.
      I could also understand 4 non-naval TD 4 thavas 2 dia.
      But at NO point should you be running a 2-off that you intend to ride. The 2-off needs to be a valuable piece that you view as a grade 2.
      To create an analogy; in basskirk-GB premium, you never wanna ride skull dragon. Sure, you'll never use basskirk's skill so skull dragon and basskirk on V fulfill the exact same role, but the fact that you ride skull dragon essentially means you have 1 skull on V and you need to keep 1 in hand at ALL times just in case you want to ulti stride, this makes it incredibly hard to have access to skull dragons, since you're basically tying 2 up already.
      The same works for diamantes. You don't want to tie him up in hand for ulti stride because he's a valuable piece.

    • @morph4977
      @morph4977 6 лет назад +1

      Just go for an aggro deck based on Navalgazer. You will just need both RRR and It couldn't be so budget but hey, you need them for the deck to actually work.
      Trigger lineup should be at least 6 Fronts and 4 draws (PG), the two slots are custom, putting some criticals to surprise your opponent, 2 fronts to optimize your frontrow or even 2 draws to get more draw which is always good but well, you can run the trigger lineup that you want.
      Grade 1: 4 Penguin and 4 Theo. These two are way too good for Navalgazer, the penguin enable your restanders on non-accel RG and CC for free basically allowing you to stay on 2 or 3 damage to avoid risks (You can manage the timing between Navalgazer and Penguin to resolve first the one you are most interested. Example: Navalgazer attacks on fourth attack with penguin on rg, you have no CB but both abilities trigger and you get to choose what ability resolves first, you chose penguin and then you use navalgazer. Or at least I perceive this, if I'm wrong, anyone please correct me) The next 4 slots depends, you prefer draw? 4 viviane. You prefer power? 2 Viviane and 2 Influent. The 9K is not useful at all and the trial deck siren is just too expensive to use. 12 G1 works for me because I really like have G3 on RG to hit as hard as possible but you can try to run 13 G1 for example.
      Grade 2: 4 Algos and 4 Tidal to begin. These are your enablers to increase the attacks to trigger the abilities so they are pretty core, nothing more to say. We follow up with 4 Shotgun Assault, this card is just very good at being a beatstick, soulblast to hit that sweet 15ks by himself is impressive.
      Grade 3: 4 Navalgazer, 3 Diamantes and 2 Riptide Dragon. Navalgazer is pretty obvious, Diamantes is nuts on accel RG with Navalgazer on VG allowing to attack 2 times by himself and then a third time thanks to navalgazer, It's very cool. Riptide is just a 32ks RG by itself, perfect to knock down your opponent.
      Pros: With a good starting hand, you can rolfstomp very easily. VERY easily. The deck is actually very interactive and can work on many ways. Very budget and very competitive for not using a VR.
      Cons: A damage trigger can throw off your turn by the window, you can mitigate this by timing your attacks well but it's just a general problem for Nova and Aqua. At the end of the day this deck is pure aggro, you need to kill off your opponent before you got no CB, penguin mitigate this weakness but you're not going to draw penguin every game so be careful. This deck needs GOOD resource management, knowing when to guard and when not to is essential, even more when they are attacking your RG to minimize your board and your CB, so knowing when to do things is vital to win. (You can say this about all the clans, but AqF has only 1 way to draw outside of triggers so It's even more important.)
      Take your time learning this deck throughly!

      You are correct that you will be penalised for not having the appropriate number of gifts. However, the specific ruling also states the penalty will only apply when he is required to acquire a gift and cannot do so due to lack of available materials. As a judge, the penalty would be to issue a warning for failure to prepare appropriate tournament materials, and then I would issue him a proxy to use for the rest of the tournament. It is a recommendation that fighters have enough gift markers appropriate to their number of Grade 3 units, but is not a strict requirement. Markers are not part of the deck, any judge giving a game loss for that has no right to be a judge.
