The professor X of grappling.
Basically. Hes the main factor why I believe Gordon will beat Felipe. It comes down to who has Danaher.
Dillon Danis: the Jubilee of grappling.
@@countryinnmotel9824 This comment deserves more upvotes. Jubilee would choke Danis out though.
@@countryinnmotel9824 lol
Professor x IS the professor x of grappling. He was a high level black belt, not many ppl know that
“Who is Gordon Ryan?!”…..What a great story. I loved that. Thank you.
The leg slap😂😂
Any idea who that ADCC legend could have been?
Seriously man??😂😂😂
This guy is a beauty bud!!!!!.... I like how he’s thinking everything through and articulating his expressions with intent. All leaders of every country in the world should be going to his classes.
Whatever doubt anybody has that John actually has the impact people say he has, especially after the DDS split, whenever I listen to Faras talk about John and the way he truly admires him after years of training with him, it washes away all doubt for me.
How did DDS split?
@@Raumance they left renzos in New York and moved to Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico didn’t pan out so they moved to Austin.
@@Warmcorn24 a third world country didn’t pan out? Who’d have thought that?
@@loveroflife1914 Craig jones said something in an interview about having difficulties trying to buy a decent facility for a gym. The locals assume because they are not from pr that they are loaded, and no matter where they looked at buying, the price would be outrageous.
@@Warmcorn24 yea Gordon stated on rogan that they found a place in a strip mall like setting that was almost entirely empty yet the owner wouldn’t go down in price
I love John’s humility. True gentleman.
Cursing the Lord is the opposite of humility.
I love the insights you can learn from listening to John. Two golden nuggets from this clip: Assessing relative work rate to determine which positions allow higher success rates of guard passing; Using Pareto's principle to provide focus to training.
Great pod, huge respect,thank you
If there’s ever a Tyson/Cus D’amato type storyline movie done like a Hollywood thriller about a young kid bumping into a super genius philosopher & a top 5 mind ever in martial arts who seems like an evil genius, and he discreetly molds the young kid into an impeccable, unbreakable, world beating, absolute dominator of an entire martial arts discipline in a relatively short time, and the evil genius coach and his prodigy piss The world off because nobody can compete
then the only reasonable person to play the role of Danaher, is Danaher himself.
"hollywood" you realize how anti woke gordon is? that would never get made and if it did it would be insane propaganda.

Loved the video Coach
im thingking to start reading all the books in this house.this guys always motivates me.
Thank you for this video.
1. Danaher is amazing. 2. Please straighten the artwork on the wall.
It might just be the camera angle
Wise men, they're many. Wise men who are curious about their craft and wish to contribute back to society. Now, that's a different story...
Much respect to you Jedi Masters!
I like how he didn't say the thing that Gordon credits as his main advantage, John himself.
That is some solid knowledge.
He is methodical and calculated and is never guessing that is why. BJJ, specially Brazilians are known for having so much like hidden or not shared information that makes it kind of "mystical" rather than logical. This is s used to extend the duration of student time as well as market themselves as special and make money, no hate but it is true. The Americans dumped all that and broke it down to a science as they say.
Although the word science doesn't have the same credibility today due to abuse of the word the saying remains.
That is absurd. That is because you do not speak Portugues.
science has credibility, the word lately has been misused is all.

Wow, so interesting, real intellectuals of the sport and life
I had a nightmare last night, John Danaher had a full head of hair in it......
Any book recommendations from John?
Agree with what he said about 3 years can become a new human being

Great video. You might want to polish up the video equipment and editing though.
Two wise men
Definitely the best ever.
Zahabi, numerous videos like this. The audio quality is fine. Get a better mic if you need to, instead of trying to comment about this audio stuff in numerous videos.
John could easily be a Bond character
John is always looking and speaking like the father of a T-1000
Any idea who the ADCC legend was that Gordon Ryan tapped a bunch of times?
WD40 that door😂
I would to see these 2 roll. What a chess match it would be!
I love John Danaher wardrobe. No matter where he goes, be it a royal gala dinner or a home barbecue, he always wears tight tops and sweatpants :D
I just wanted to thank you for posting this. I don't know much about BJJ, but I follow MMA. When I was younger my passion was music, I used to spend hours learning music. So I like to learn what makes anyone a 'specialist' in their field, tick and how they became the best they can be. I think this provides some insight from this video. i know there are books on this but i'd like to share my tips for anyone:
1. intense interest, obsession in the topic at hand to the point of shutting other things out. in our society we look at fame and fortune, but it sometimes takes 2 generations to get there i.e. Mr.Danaher --> Ryan. Abdulmanap --> Khabib. you can't care too much about materialism (as in, western capitalist materialism) when you have a vision. you have to put all energy towards the vision. how do you relax - no tv. i'd bet also not just because he didnt want one, maybe he could not afford it -- but this is really a guess. being a bjj expert back in the day probably did not pay much?
2. desire. desire or ambition to get better.
3. discipline. the first two breed dedication, but without discipline you are f*****. personally, i lacked discipline and too distracted by being connected to this internet shit.
4. humble. if you think you are the best, you stop learning. when i was 16 or 17 i thought i was really good, and i was really good compared to my peers. but i never hung out around those better than me. to get better, you need to surround yourself with the very best. im 35 now and trying to take off where i left, but its harder when you are older.
It’s genuinely odd how easy he makes things seem. A layman watching Gordan roll would think BJJ is such a basic sport because he makes it look so so easy
goat is goat and man is man

GOAT of no gi
Gordon vs Khabib grappling match🙏🏽
Ju jitsu brings out the impulsive nature of survival, and that is linked to being right, being dominant. It's only consequential that sports produces a dominant creature and someone gets recognition for production of said creature, but does little to the advancement of the race as a collective.
But fukiing your mom advances the species
Just my opinion….. he has to win worlds in the gi multiple times as well to be considered the goat.
No, he’s the GOAT in no gi. He’s not considered the GOAT in gi, I don’t think he does much gi! Gordon Ryan is the 🐐 with no gi, that’s almost fact!
@@MrAdidas1980 and now it definitely is a fact!
No, because he's the goat of no gi which is grappling in general. That includes Jiu jitsu, sambo, wrestling, and all styles of grappling in adcc. Gi is only a Jiu jitsu competition with clothes on. Adcc champion like Ryan is more well rounded and better overall.
If there’s ever a discussion of top 4 or 5 super genius minds in the history of martial arts/combat sports I’ll just go ahead and say it now that I refuse to let anyone dispute these two men as mandatory candidates.
My other two obvious ones would be Cus D’amato and Trevor Whitman
Trevor whitman? He's good not great
@@urbansamurai261good not great? Yea he’s just responsible for 3 students, all 3 of whom are hall of fame level top 3 talents on the roster, one interim champ & multi time title contender, one multi time champion, and one of the most dominant champions in history of the company. Nothing special about him 😂
have you ever heard him speak in long form conversation? Listen to some podcasts, dude is nothing short of genius and a fire hose of innovative ideas.
@@boyerindustries I'd put abdulmanap nurmagomedov above him and firas zahabi and most of those legends joined him after they established themselves
When all the elites split their time between no gi and gi but you exclusively train in no gi you’re obviously going to have an advantage over them.
It’s the day after ADCC……yes, he’s the GOAT
Post his cycle.

@@binilgn5941 That would be my guess as well.

I think fun is the goal.
But too many people are lost in the work. You dont get to have fun until you win a trophy beotch. So fun is the only goal. It takes years if not decades to achieve.
After you get married and retire and finally have total independence. Then you can have fun. So fun is the goal.
When your enemys are crushed and you hear the lamentation of their women. Then you can have some fun.
Goal it out. S.m.a.r.t.
Specific: Fun
Measurable: Winning something important after an insane amount of work correctly being done.
Attainable: something you like that is really hard to do. Like sparring when you probably will get hurt. Versus easy matchup.
Relavent: doesn't matter if its important to others. Small like you finally did a kimura. Big like you won a competition or graduated with a profitable skill.
Time bound: hurry up.

While Gordon might be on the acai berries, so is almost everyone he's beaten except for maybe Jacob Couch, and we all saw how badly he mauled that guy.
@@jskscotty3508 If everyone in the game is on steroids, why wouldn’t he. Makes sense to level the playing field as much as possible. Especially because they don’t get tested.
For me the goat is a guy named roger Gracie.
Ruger Gracie's record:
83 black belt matches
76 wins
62 by submission
7 losses
81% submission rate

Gordon Ryan's record:
96 black belt matches

The memory thing is a big thing, he deff is gifted in learning and applying techniques. Only downside id say is his steroids usage in my opinion otherwise he is a beast

Gordan is so dominant, his matches are boring. im not excited for Ryan vs anyone. Gordon always wins.
When Tyson lost to Buster the PPV sales were super low because of this same reason, people were mad from pst experiences and that they spent all that money on his PPVs only just to watch him dominate.

Gordon the GOAT? Has the world gone mad? Y'all are forgetting about a little something called the SCHAUB SHUTDOWN
Charity Jesus. Charity is love that gives it always believes and hopes.
James 3:16 "For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work."
Evil is to be uncaring and destructive in your relationship to others for selfish gain, or to be internally selfishly weak.
Matthew 4:17 "For at about that time Jesus began to preach repent the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand."
Repent: to change your mind, to believe Jesus: (Yeshua, The Anointed King) and what he said, to ask for forgiveness.
Note: When someone asks for forgiveness at each point in the past you'd done something wrong you wish you had done the right thing.
God wanted to know who thought being a good person is important, and who will value a relationship with him and others through a concept called love; thereby, being a good tree whose fruit is good and of sweet savour to those in it's presence.
Be Born Again John 3
Seek the Lord while he may be found, be diligent in doing and pray for wisdom. 1 Kings 3:5-12, Hebrews 11:1 + 6, Isaiah 55:6

No because he only does one half of jiujitsu Roger the goat he dominated gi and no gi and subbed buchecha Gordon struggled won by a sweep!!!! In order claim goat status u must do gi and no gi that's jiujitsu
Answer: HGH
how did he become the "goat"?....by juicing, because his oviosly super skilled all his big wins are post juicy.....
In order to be the goat u have dominate jiujitsu well he did only one half of jits never did big things we with the gi like Roger Roger did both dominated
Bet those Roids help
Where is Dildo Denis?
so many salty people in the comments. Yes, Gordon is on the juice (as are a ton of others) but juice doesn't give you a memory like Gordon's. The guy understands every position and the SOPs for each of them. He's calculated and never makes mistakes. Would I love to see someone beat him? For sure! But the guy is the No Gi goat and it's honestly not even close right now.
Felipe Pena is like an Anaconda and he already beat him twice. Galvoa has the attributes of a Silverback, Jaguar, Cobra and Honey Badger. Powerful, elusive and agile, technical and precise and relentless. Gordon Ryan is like a Bengal Tiger. So I'm not taking anything away from Gordon Ryan although he does alot of talking and comes off arrogant but he has to get through these guys first. These upcoming matches are for legacy. Gordon Ryan has his hands full. Pena and Galvoa are heavy weights and legends themselves. Stay tuned folks.
I'd love to agree with you. But he would absolutely walk through both Pena and Galvao right now. I'll give Pena his props against gordon his last fight esp after Lo's death. He made it look close for the first 25 mins or so. Once Gordon started turning up a bit of pressure, he started to fade.
Galvao isn't active enough. He last competed against a One FC fighter and couldn't sub him. Fighter is legit, but Galvao is an ADCC legend.
@@6ix6ear Good decision by Gordon not agreeing to change the fight to 30 minutes because Pena's Jiu Jitsu was on point not letting Gordon walk through him like he does everybody else and threatening the leg attacks, creating space. Pena has an amazing gaurd game and inverting, very flexible and mobile. But yea I noticed that Pena started to fade after 30 minutes but man you never know. To bad it ended like that, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt due to what happened to his friend. But I think him and Gordon will see each other again and Pena has to do is work on strength and conditioning, get stronger for Gordon. I think Galvoa is stronger then Pena and the more athletic, better scrambler and wrestler. He's past his prime for sure but it will still be interesting.
Are we jumping over the fact that PED's plays a big role in being able to train 12 hours a day?
Gordon was pretty skinny up until a few years ago and was still training like a maniac. No one is training hard 12 hours a day though. Being in the gym is not the same as training. The bulk of time is spent drilling at low intensity and working on positions and different moves. Hard sparring is a small percentage of training time. It’s very doable if you are young, motivated and take care of your body.
Are the other pro athletes not taking illegal substances? Are they as near as good? Just look at Palharres´s or Mahamed Aly´s bodies, but they wouldn´t even survive 10 minutes against Gordon
Nope.
I know Danaher is a great coach. However, running a school like his, he will automatically attract the most talented athletes.
Like, say MIT or Caltech, any student there is the best of the best from the start and are likely to be the best once they graduate.
thats right, he has a great talent pool because of his good reputation. But he is not the only one with that kind of reputation. Look at Alliance, Atos or AOJ.
I would say no Eddie bravos up there and he’s still around and he’s not paid like Gordon is either
rly? he owns EBI, a lot of schools and combat jiu jitsu...he owns a lot of money without even fight
