- Wallowa Lake Tramway is the steepest gondola in america. Located right in the Wallowas, you get great views of the Wallowa mountains and the lake. This is a great destination to enjoy the top of a mountain without all the climbing that is usually required. There is a wonderful restaurant up top to enjoy food, drinks, and views.

Bridalveil Falls gondola opened in 1969 in Provo, Utah was the steepest in the world with almost a 70° incline. It was so popular they only let people on the gondola with a reservation for weddings or dinings. But sadly in 1991 a major avalanche occurred temporarily closing down the ride. Later in the year it was closed down for good because some say it would be too dangerous to fix. I was never alive to go on it but my grandparents have and they say it's one of the scariest things they've ever done.
Sweet. Didn't know about that one. Sounds like the kinda thing that worked years ago and would never happen these days.

My wife is from this area and brought me here 30 years ago . It's one of our favorite places to visit, relax, fish and shoot film. We live 40 miles south of Crater Lake National Park in Southern Oregon so if you love nature Oregon is a pretty good place to be minus the wildfires the last several years.

I love that Terminal Gravity brewery. Best outdoor seating I have seen. When we went there was a fiddlers convention. Tons of different groups playing music. Was very cool.

@@DnSAdventures Aug-Oct is the best time if that is an option. Otherwise summer lots of roads can still be closed, and terrible mosquitos. Either way there will be fun all times of year.

Thanks! It is round trip. Seems a little steep for just a ride but you do get a nice mountain experience for however long you want to stay. Also keeps the junkies out.

Thanks! A little bit harder to breathe at 8000 feet. Depends on your tolerance. I had just camped at 7000 feet for a few nights before this. So I was used to it.
"feeding wildlife is not okay" .... dude, the restaurant sells bags of munk food for $2 each.
Just because one person does something stupid, does not mean you have to. Common knowledge for people that spend time in the outdoors to not feed wildlife. We want to keep the wild, wild.
