I find it bewildering that a brilliant mind like Dr Siegel is sharing scientific information that has such transformative implications for health and well being is speaking to an audience where a large percentage of members are multi-tasking on their laptops instead of paying focused attention.

However, we do get to watch and rewatch here on RUclips a d that is pretty cool. He's a good writer too. Much easier to follow than some of his colleagues.

Could this backdrop have possibly been any more distracting? However, I never tire of listening to Dan Siegal and really enjoyed this talk.

I love Dan because he clearly understands the ancient philosopher Plato, and also that "devil" Desecrate. And these two all important philosophers present the backbone of the world we live in. All science is based on Desecrate. There is a problem in this which cannot be ignored. Having to do with the separation of the mind from body -- a gap Dan is trying to close. This comes from Desecrate. We live believing we are bodies, we are treated like machines.
On the other hand, the way to Unity ( ... to give it a Name ...) is revealed through Plato. *Soul.* Hint: it is not just the ideas being presented, but the order in which they are presented. He used mystical proportions, which Dan uses as well. You're welcome! Plato says that the physical world is actually a mirror of the world of Forms (Ideas/ Mind). You cannot separate the mind from the body and retain the Soul -- but you can make gadgets. Is this "the real world?" What kind of reality do these objects have? Is there a danger in losing "The Way" because we are replacing Soul with body?
All this is present in Dan's presentations. I am showing you the Source.
To put it loosely, no real thinker can reach the Soul without understanding the Ideas present these thinker's ideas.
*If you yourself are interested in diving into the best philosophy book you can -- to help you understand what Dan clearly knows -- I suggest ( -- you will be in awe -- ) "Jacob Klein: Lectures and Essays".*

6:40 Don't they want to avoid talking to patients because eventually it's going to wear down the doctor? Some people argue that feeling empathy (like feeling someone's pain) can sometimes interfere with being able to execute compassion (actually helping people). If you are very empathic and feel the pain of every patient that you have, then you'll probably eventually leave your profession or wear yourself due to stress. Even if you can emotionally help that one person, after years and years of doing this and wearing yourself emotionally, you might not be as effective at helping people as somebody who tries to stay emotionally neutral.

Good point. Yeah imagine that, a doctor/medical worker feeling the pain of their every patient....Guess Dan didn't think very far into that one. Doesn't get very far into explaining/demonstrating/supporting his claims before he changes the subject either....

Good point, Mr Wise. Pragmatically, you have rapport (which means literally "a sympathetic vibration"), naturally, with 1 out of 4 or 5 people you meet. The reason for this actually can best be modeled via astrology, where, the biomagnetic field of a person has entry points where 'energy' flows in and out -- and when two people in a relationship have their planets in harmonious relationship (geometrically in particular), then energy flows easily to and fro'. The point I am making is that ... with those you have natural rapport, here you can do the most help. Any weariness one experiences from sharing LOVE (which is "Everything" in Dan's words) must be accepted as the tole one pays for being positively polarized. In those cases where, there is not rapport with a patient, it would probably be wise (if your concern is about wearing out) to NOT strain yourself to force a connection, where the connection is just not there. Perhaps their planets are very inharmonious. By the way, this is something you can accurately predict ahead of time -- whom you will have rapport with, whom you won't. The most important factor is the Moon and Mercury. The Moon has a tremendous affect on our whole life, in particular, emotional matters and the subconscious mind. Mercury has to do with one's communication. A person with Mercury in Aries will be direct and brute with their words, but also prone to swearing and slandering, yet good at initiating change; in a word "brotherly"; while Mercury in Taurus will be tender, with beauty present in their words, concerned with stabilizing; in a word "sisterly". In closing, I would say that those with whom you have rapport, those are the ones you can do the best work with. Think about why. You are not a body. The mind has an architecture. You can't force someone into a door that they cannot see. (In the example above ... Aries and Taurus literally do not SEE one another; they are said to be in aversion.) NLP uses techniques, such as mirroring, to create a synthetic rapport, however, and this appeals to the mirror neurons. Something to think about. (Ancient Astrology [circa 2nd century BCE] has been around for about 20 years now; modern astrology is junk; pop astrology is junk. But it is a factor here and if you really understand astrology, you can make accurate predictions about whom you will and will not have rapport with.)
      Peace be with you, All.

The wearing comes from resistance. You heat up and burn.
You have to match life with the same intensity. Then you realise you are in the flow.
But first, you got to try everything els. Lol

@@davidbenes6107 thank you for letting me know where you are. I am humbled each time i discover i was afraid to feel. And it is funny because to be afraid is a feeling. To act on fear means it is ruling my action. So I'm planning strategy to prevent fear while under the influence of fear.
      Humbling...
      Thanks
      I didn't know.

      @ Jon Wise
In the end of your comment you mentioned trying to be emotionally neutral which is obviously something that medical professionals, especially psychiatrists, are encouraged to adopt as a strategy to avoid being caught in the negative feelings that are probably emerging from the other person receiving the doctors advice. The meaning of the term ‘e-motion’ is energy in motion, neutral emotions are motions stuck or paralysed in non movement, which is psychologically a ‘dead’ state. So that’s the message passed from the doctor to the client that insofar as they want to communicate emphatically with you they desired to treat you as if you are not worthy, in their opinion. Being emotionally neutral is really signifying that you don’t care if they are dead or alive, in any event they are disengaged, meaning that they are self centred on themselves deliberately. I isn’t this the first point made by Dr Dan?

That they, the Drs' were living on a flat earth mindset. The same with wholeness of a human being...spirituality can be viewed from the view that it is organism....a ecosystem.
