I don't know if it was said, but casual Edric also makes for a very potent budget commander. Just a couple of weeks ago, I budgeted my more splashy and flashy Edric deck for a 30 dollar budget, and it still had plenty of teeth :)
I believe you nailed it. I'm trying to brew a complex commander deck for ages and I never get satisfied with the current results. I have an Edric deck (that I only use in special occasions, like someone playing an overpowered deck against normal decks - you are correct and people get mad with the extra turns). But that's not the case, the case is that simple might be the real satisfying. I had an Astral Slide legacy deck (not for tournaments) that was pretty funny and I'm trying to emulate the same feeling in commander in the last 5 years, but I couldn't. In this journey I discovered that power level has a curve of enjoyment that is a parable, if it passes some middle point, gets boring and predictable. Now you are helping me to learn that complex is not necessarily funny. It's really hard to build a complex EDH deck that is consistent enough to be amusing all the matches. Thanks for the good content.
This is such a cool Commander! I wanted to build a highpower Kinan deck but now i am not sure anymore 😂 How much stronger is Kinan than Edric in your opinion?
@@supremecourt4131 edric has a higher skill ceiling. I've honestly versed Kinnan like 5 times and won every game vs him. But it might be better in a turbo game. I play edric as midrange mostly. But watch out for bowmaster. It's will beat your whole gameplan, so you need to run lots of creature removal.
I will argue against you no mana crypt in cedh. If im comboing with extra turns, ive already won. I can easily find a crypt answer if it becomes a problem. The early boost helps me get out a turn one rhystic or help me start the extra turns holding up a counterspell. The must not include is a very bad take honestly.
I can't speak for cedh but I just find commanders like Edric or the new Voja simply build and play themselves... I really dislike the lack of variety of these decks.
I don't think it's as cut-and-dry as that with Edric. It's true that most Edric decks are just small, evasive creatures and either extra turn spells and/or overrun effects, but I can see him being a decent ramp/stompy commander as well, which breaks the mold (but still sits comfortably in the Simic wheelhouse). And you got another deck concept here in the video, with group hug. These are probably not the best ways to build Edric, but then again you don't need your casual decks to be at the pinnacle of their potential at every turn. Functional is fine 99% of the time. And if we're frank, it exemplifies Simic pretty well. Simic is rather simple and one-note. It's just Value with a capital V: Have all the mana, draw lots of cards, have a big board and police your opponents' actions with control effects while going completely overboard yourself.
Is this any good in cEDH anymore? I feel like there’s enough interaction in other colors and enough orcish bowmasters that the small 1/1’s and dorks are especially vulnerable. Not to mention the speed at which you can actually take someone out is dependent on swinging and having enough extra turns to win. But then again, i only watch cEDH, maybe i dont have enough experience to say he’s not good enough anymore.
omg my request actually happened, cheers buddy

Could I get the list pls?
@@kvdxx6603 I'll see if I can dig it up when I get home tonight 👍

What a great commander! I love Simic anyway, and now I have another deck idea for it. Thanks!
i was JUST thinking of making an edric deck omgg
Yup, white background in thumbnail really feels better.

Not stronger
Edric has way more card draw for the whole table. Makes all cedh games way more interactive and interesting.
@@brandandixon3943 ok but i guess that Kinan is still way better isn‘t it? Never heard of Edric before but Sounds very fun!

1/1 are too prone to getting bonked by everything in cEDH

That's not really 100% foolproof
Not to mention each time he draws an orcish will ping him or the 1/1’s.
@@jcstaff1007 Yeah, you're going to have a hell of a time keeping the Bowmasters off the table.
