- Welcome to Wonderhussy Adventure #265
My friends Larry, Jessica, Myron and I set off to travel the length of the famous Mojave Road -- an epic off-road trail that basically runs for 133 miles from Needles to Barstow, right through the most desolate part of the Mojave Desert! This road follows an ancient Indian path that was later used by pioneer wagon trains -- so you never know WHAT you'll find on the trail. Along our journey we discovered some truly astonishing, creepy things -- from abandoned houses to weird shrines to conspiracy-tinged graffiti....and saw PLENTY of gorgeous, desolate desert landscapes.
In part two of four, we leave Ft. Piute at mile 23.3 and travel across the vast, desolate Lanfair Valley to Camp Mojave around mile 66, stopping to investigate a number of lonely abandoned homes and weird desert curiosities along the way. You never know WHAT you'll find way out in the desert!

I’m a Clamper and I’m very sorry that one guy was rude to you. I’m very happy to see one of our plaques on your video.Big fan of yours!
It’s a *SHAME* when you see obvious vandalism to these old structures you show in many videos. What’s the purpose of busting windows? I hope Karma visits people that commit harm to landmarks and properties. Love your videos!!
Love your videos, I am very glad that you do these. Thanks Wonder Hussy.
Good looking coat
The water tower location!
Imagine the star gazing opportunities!
Love it!
I want to refurbish it!
I am enjoying this adventure immensely. I grew up in Adelanto, CA, about 2-3 hr's south of where you are now. I spent many days on my motorcycle just traveling old back roads. Some of them clear and well used and others no more than rabbit trails. As with you, I was amazed at the distance I could travel and find some old, abandoned homestead or current one. The wind was the thing that got me in your vid's. I remember that wind. Especially in fall and winter. The sound is creepy and comforting to me. Keep up the good "work?" I've been a fan for a couple years now and look forward to each new adventure.
As soon as I heard the wind it was like I was back there.Amazing place.
The hardest part of living in an area where most humans would never go to (let alone find), is having to deal with people who don't know what NO TRESSPASSING means! I was happy to see you decided not to proceed beyond those gates. Reclusive people can get agitated & do some strange things to those who interrupt their day!
I'm glad I came across this trip 4😅 yrs. Later , I got to take the trip in the mid 90's had a 90 Bronco sleeping in the back, thanks for your vedio
Great video!...Merry Christmas to all from snowy frozen northern Canada
Merry Christmas from a hot and humid Australia. Hope you all have a great new year.
@@Toby3610 Try to stay cool down there and Happy Christmas and New Year to you too.
Aw, love Wednesdays(8-). It's great to see what the Mojave Road trip crew's up to. All I got to say about the fort remnants is...I hope those are foundation walls. If those
walls were the complete and full walls of the fort, that would mean early soldiers were some very short people. And I'm glad yer a little Lass. I couldn't waltz around on
top of your rig without "oil canning" to roof...but yeah, I see what you mean. Miles and miles of nuthin' but miles and miles. Impressive view though...The rock cabin, they'd
almost have to keep that all locked up, Darlin'. That is, if they want to preserve it in any kind of decent shape. Not all visitors are you folks. Some would trash the place in
half a heartbeat. Anyhow, thanks a heap for this installment of the Mojave Road Trip(8-).
The Rock House is now owned by the government and used as a base camp for desert research.
@@RickZackExploreOffroad Yeah, I was thinking that could be a possibility. Too bad they gotta lock it up. Good folks would use it and help maintain it.
Scum would trash it or make a meth lab out of it.
@@tomfrye9037 Sign of the times I guess. It is a pretty neat place and would love to own it.
@@RickZackExploreOffroad Me too, but I doubt I could come up with the kind of cake it'd take to buy it.
Yeah wonderhussy 💋 awesome.part 2! thank you for sharing 😍💜
Thank you Sarah ,Fantastic,Maybe plane a trip with all your subs next year down this trail? Safe travels,73s
I have been patiently waiting. I know it is going to be a good one!
Thanks for this totally fun video. Love seeing all the high desert joshua trees. That part of California is just as much Big Sky Country as is Montana. Gorgeous views everywhere.
Stone Cabin was a highlight.....looking forward to the next video of your adventure.
Dang !! I would have loved to see you explore that cave ...😢
Great video WH. Thanks for taking us along on your adventures. 👍
You really make me chuckle. You have a fun, quirky personality. Love your videos. Thanks.
Glad to see that you are alive Sarah!
Great video! Looking forward to the next one... My brothers and I are planning our next trip to Nevada in early March 2019. Once again I am using your videos for the planning process... Thanks!
Hello Wonderhussy! Wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas & a happy new year! Can't wait to see the rest of this adventure!
Your videos always bring a smile to me, thank you Sarah. That home looks like it was quite nice at one time. Looking at the steel frame windows and the pink bathtub I would say it was built on the 50s. That pink color was called desert rose. Appropriate!
Anouther great day on the trail, looking forward to the next adventure
You are awesome! I just love watching your videos I want to go on that trip you keep adding to my bucket list
Old Mojave Rd was the last 4WD trip I drove before I moved from California... thank you for bringing back the memories
"Wanna take a bath?" LOL - well played Pink Floyd reference! You're a rock star!
Cool video Sarah , thanks for sharing.
thanks for the continued adventure .
Hey Hussy, you're bring back lots of memories from 30yrs ago when I rode the Mojave Road on my dirt bike. Great area, awesome history. You're doing a great job exposing the importance of Dennis Casebier's book, it's the secret to exploring Mojave Road. Hope you cover a story or two from the diary entries in the book. Yes, you do need a drone for that trip!
Great job; love the production values...
Hey Sarah your videos are so much fun. Thank you for sharing your "far-out" journey. Those old fort walls were solid..really well crafted. A testament to the spirit of those pioneers. Wonder if it was done by corp of engineers.
Love the vlog they all r so cool. The roads look crazy n fun 😀 😀 😀
Absolutely a tremendous Wonderhussy adventure!
WOW Really loved this video....thanks for doing this for us.
Thank you for the video. It brought back fond memories of my trip on the trail in the 80s. Met Carl. He was a cool guy.
Really great video. Thanks for posting.
I love these road trips, and the campfires. You're engaging and should have your on tv show!
Great video, great adventure. 👌
Stay happy lil hussy i like your channel and your adventures big hugs ; ) YAY
Yes it can get very cold in the desert especially at that elevation. When the wind comes up it doesn't seem to matter how many layers of clothing you have on... it will cut right through it. I'd be interested to find out where that man got the power to run all of his audio electronics. Another great video and looking forward to seeing day number 3.
You always do such a great job.Cant click ,play fast enough
Looking forward to part 3.
Looks like a good trail to take my horses thru this time of year, full length duster would be a must tho and maybe a flask of my homemade " Fire Makers Mark !" And a pack horse can carry around 180# of gear incuding a coffee pot ! And my new 4 season 4 person tent only weighs 7 lbs. instead of 12 like my old one !
Shame on Larry for the 5 am alarm, I work civilized hours, 2 to 10 pm and NEVER get up to an alarm any more ! ;)) Another fine video Miss Hussy !
Hell yes great video WH nice driving thanks for sharing
This is awesome! Mohave in December with rain in the forecast!
Another good job, safe travels
Hello this is Ted from Texas. Another great video you did. I enjoy the scenery the desert. It makes me think of of the old Weston. Sceneries that I've seen paintings and photographs.
It is a breathtaking View. I'm hoping one day I could do that road. Maybe I should put it on my bucket list. I enjoy your videos and seeing every thing out in the desert.
Thank you and have a merry Christmas you all.
“Vast, vast, vast” & “desolate, desolate, desolate.” Thanks for the recommendation of the Majavi Road Guide Book!
Four-Wheel driving AND Frito Pie??? Too cool! Merry Christmas, Wonder Hussy :)
Your so cute, Wonderhussy!
Mohave Preserve is one of my favorite desert places to frequent.
But man, our takes on it are sooo different.
Love the desert. You do it proud.
What happens when Wonder Hubby comes along? We'll just have to Wonder.
Great film!👍👍

Great video series
Even though you couldn't get into the last cabin it was still great!. I'm really enjoying the trip as it would have been back in the day. Frito pie!! I'm coming for dinner!! I'll be there in eight months!! I'm traveling old school too!😎✌
I see they graded the road into Watson Wash since the last time I travelled it. Great area and time to go back.
OMG--you are so funny. I love the video.
what a cool trip. imagine all the items just under the surface along the way????
I think the people there had a recording studio in mind. That cassette player/mixer looked liked one of the portastudios.
The hussy gang !!! We rule ...😃
Its so comforting to find others that love the desert like you and I do. The stark open skies and the big quiet where a person can think clearly. It's almost a religious experience! Most people think I'm crazy to love the desert but it was the first thing that drew me to your site. Living in Sweden in this endless sea of green makes me homesick for the high desert of the South West. I love your Videos and a big Thank You for taking the time and bother to make them.
Really good video
Another great explore. Looks like you added some air to your tires! Safe trip.
Indian histoey and petroglyphs are an amazing way they passes this down through the centuries and beyond. Too bad we couldnt have seen them...that would hsve been great!
Sorry to hear that, I'm a Clamper and one of your biggest fans.
David R Have fun on your sausage fests!
Really enjoying the Mojave Road Trip Sarah! I also appreciate you introducing the other members of the travel party. I always wanted you to introduce the folks you go on adventures with. I'm used to Larry now. He gets up too early for me too. Good to meet Jessica and Myron.
I sooooooooo want to take this adventure!
Had the pleasure of doing the Mojave rd with Mr Caspier in the early 1980's great 4 day trip Did you see the kamode in the wash with the flag we called that capt Caspiers thrown. none of those newer shacks and trail guides were there then but we had Mr caspier to tell the story. No campgrounds everybody had a CJ5 0r 7 and it was just 2 rutts to follow most of the time. it was a really great trip, Enjoy your vidios love your singing and story telling. Have a great adventure. Do the Rubicon trail when you get a chance.
Nice vid wh
awesome vlog love your earrings could you tell where i can get some for my mrs please Xx
Great video. Again vandals destroyed someone else dreams of peace and Paradise. Stay safe Sara.
I love your attitude
Fantastic , Aliens might live out there . Merry Christmas and Happy New year , keep them videos coming
Read the book Maruba by Maude Morrow Sharp. First person account about homesteading in the Lanfair Valley.
Another awesome day.
Thanks a lot, Larry! 😂😂

The vehicles do ALL the work!
Good work . You are beatiful. From Mexicali méxico
Hussy. So 🔥
Freezing in the Winter and Blazing hot in the Summer. That's the Mojave.
that looks like a perfect place to put a double-wide mobile home. paradise! no neighbors and all the space you can handle....
Beautiful out there ! Love the desert! Fun out there !
