    George jumped out of the gate like a prized racehorse. He was so multi talented, being able to write, arrange,
    compose and produce and sing his own music which is very rare, even today. Faith was very eclectic with the style of music that it contained. What an amazing body of work. I however loved what followed after Faith. George aged like a fine wine. His his ability to write beautiful music became even better. I love this musician so much. His music has accompanied me for years and years.

    George just had that x factor, he was a natural talent, his voice was unique, and effortlessly perfected, he was a perfectionist and great songwritter, he was gorgeous and had a modest kind heart, he was a perfect package, he had flaws though and struggled with his mental health, leading to his fairly short life, miss having his soundtrack to my life, so honored i had it to grow up to, RIP Beautiful Man :(

    Such a great album! Love it! Pure late ‘80s pop perfection. In 1988 it even outsold MJ’s Bad in the US, and I think that is the better of the two. Much more mature and it’s also aged a bit better in my opinion.

    • @FineArtsMusic
      @FineArtsMusic  4 года назад +4

      Alessandro B yea, i personally like Faith more than Bad. Mainly because I’m more of an MJ fan!

    • @napulex107
      @napulex107 4 года назад +5

      Fine Arts “Bad” is too mechanical and calculated in my opinion. Basically Michael & Quincy took the success of "Thriller" and decided to continue the formula that made it the best selling record of all time. The problem is that they pushed the formula too far in places.
      While "Off The Wall" and "Thriller" are pretty much timeless Pop/R&B music, this album is very much a product of its time. They relied too much on the latest technology and the album has not aged very well as a result. Those metallic drum snares are quite annoying actually. Still though, this is a Michael Jackson album from the late 1980s, so it's bound to have several moments of "sublime Pop perfection” and you get it here with songs such as the magnificent “Man In The Mirror”, the rock inspired “Dirty Diana”, the catchy and groovy “The Way You Make Me Feel” and “Smooth Criminal”.
      I really like the duet with Stevie Wonder too, even if it’s definitely not a masterpiece.
      Both “Off The Wall”, “Thriller” are better albums as far as I’m concerned..
      On the other hand, “Faith” has aged better and the songwriting is much more mature and I feel that has something more to offer. Also, the ballads are way better! “Father Figure”, “One More Try” and “Kissing A Fool” are definitely better than “Liberian Girl” and “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You”, they stood the test of time better in my opinion.

    I agree with you about FAITH the album. When you talked about the track and video of Father Figure being over thirty years old and how good it still is I said to myself “Oh yes. I’ve always thought that”. This album is remarkable itself being a number one album and having so many number one singles on it. I am a great fan of George and can never understand why his music doesn’t get more attention. I really enjoy the music of the Eighties so therefore I listen to 80’s stations on the radio. I’m always disappointed and frustrated that I still hear so little from this album besides the FAITH single. That is a question I would love to have answered....why don’t we hear more of or about George’s music?
    Your channel is a sweet respite in a desert. Thank you. 🙏🏻

      Around when George Michael dies and throughout 2017 there was a focus on him. There was the reissue of Listen Without Prejudice and the documentary though, not much is happening now. Sure there was the book and that new song but, still everyone seems to almost ignore Michael. He was such a prominent artist in the 80s, 90s and even 2000s but, now, he’s nothing more than a gay icon known for the song Careless Whisper which has just become a meme at this point. People know George’s songs but, they couldn’t say who they’re by. Anyways, it’s an interesting topic.

    • @robertacolarette1594

      Fine Arts
      I guess for me it’s not just his music but his voice was tremendous. He could sing anything; but when he sings R&B and has a strong African American following, that’s quite notable. I don’t know how anyone could not love his voice.

    "Faith" is the perfect 80s album to me. He made his #1 album, got "filthely famous", overtopped the top of the tops, and it was too much for him. He didn't enjoy it and changed his ways. I adore his later work, but find anything past LWP too depressing after his untimely death, so found myself listening to "Faith" and LWP more than his other albums. Anyways, "Father figure" and definitely "One more try" are in my top 5 fave songs ever, from any artist, they don't age (in my opinion), they sound amazing. "Kissing a fool" close to that as well. I, too, think he is heavily underrated :( that enormous talent with a great humble giving man behind it needs to be appreciated more.

    • @annakisfaludinebaan

      Kissing a Fool is an eternal song, along with the others, of course, but it’s so cute, almost a little boy on the recording, I have to watch and listen every day. The “trouble” with Georg is that you have to focus on him - his appearance at the same time because I love watching him - and listening to his music. He is to me Mr. Perfect! younger or older, it doesn't matter. I love him!

  • @WCD199317
    @WCD199317 2 года назад +4

    ''Father Figure'' final version was a accident, because it's was written and recording has a dance track. During the mixing of the album (before the released of the album), he accidently removed the snare drums and changed totally the song, became a ballad that all hear and he kept it like that, because he loved better this song has a ballad and finished to work and mixing this song. This accident thing becoming this song more sensual and very more haunting and strange.
    ''I Want Your Sex'' was influenced by the work of Prince in the arrangements and the vocals when he writing and recording. Depist that, many years later, his cited to he like the part 2, but not so much the part 1.
    ''One more Try'' was coinceived in all the step of process (writing, recording, mixing) in only eight hours. Because it's was so personal, he wanted to keep the arrangements very simple.
    ''Kissing a Fool'' was written in 1984 during the Wham! years, but not used because of the image of the duet. But he started to recording the album, he finished to writing this song. The vocal was only recording in one take.
    In 2010, in a interview for introspective of the album, ''George Michael'' cited ''One more Try'' and ''Father Figure'' has his favorites tracks of the album and he also cited ''Look at your hands'' has his least favorite song of the album.

    Dude Faith was soo good because George had fallen in love for the first time. But, he couldn't tell her cause she only wanted to be friends. Most of the songs on Faith are about her. Pouring love into his music that he couldn't express to her. Because if you listen to Different Corner if he told her he might lose her.
    They stayed friends until the day he passed.

    that sound... there's just nothing like it! he ruled radio from 1985-1990 with Careless Whisper, Go Go, I Knew You Were Waiting For Me, all these Faith Album songs, and Praying for Time and Freedom 90 from LWP album. He is sorely missed and was so looking forward to his album that was gay-centric he talked about prior to his death. nice video, and yes, the 2 songs that are ho hum, are just up against such amazing works, and I only got tired of I Want Your Sex 30 years ago because I played it constantly that year!!!

      He ruled radio for a short time in the US. But he ruled radio and was the most played artist in a period of 20 years in the UK. He received an industry award which honored him as being the most played artist for a period of 20 years straight. It infuriates me when you talk to somebody in the states and they say, oh yeah he’s a has-been. As if the US market is the only one that matters. He simply backed out of the US because it was driving him crazy. He continued to be on the music charts in the UK and the rest of Europe for his entire career. He was one of the most loved and was considered one of the best artist to ever come out of UK.

  • @halfbreed4life62

    Oh also...you're quite off on I want your Sex...he was writing that to the woman that he could not tell how he felt about her. It started with I'm your man & Edge of Heaven. Careless Whisper proved to him his fans didn't pay the lyrics no attention. So he proceeded to write Edge of Heaven. Building up to telling her how he felt inrl. But during that time she dropped the bomb that she just would be friends with him. They had gotten on so swimmingly that he'd felt that they were falling in love. So, the I want you s song had been him reaching for the opposite of his & Kathy's relationship. But, then she'd dropped her bombshell.
    It's all in his autobiographies. I was lucky I knew him from him answering my letters back in the 80's. Think she wrote him too. Only he started calling her.
    Whoever she is his recent release of I'm your man hints on her name.
    But yeah ppl assume they know why he wrote them. But he was a man in pain. In the friends or brother zone with the woman he loved first

    Not at all of the same opinion. I like the songs that weren't released as singles so much, like hard day. Very nice. I also like Look at your hands, it shows a different side of his voice. I want your sex, it doesn't matter how often the word sex is mentioned, just listen and understand the meaning. You don't have to listen to Part 2 either. But the music and especially the intro is incredible. Otherwise, liking all the other songs, Faith, Father Figure, One more try, Monkey and Kissing a fool is nothing out of the ordinary, of course these were fantastic songs that everyone knows and that made this album one of the most successful of all time.
