Great Vid. Glad to see a review that uses great slapback instead of just overspacing ambient tones. Of course it’s cool to hear “Wave on Wave” in a review. 😂😂😁😎👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🎸🎸
Great demo! Thank you! Finally someone who set it at a reasonable setting rather than putting a ton of drive and all the effects on max. How much of an effect would you say the preamp has? I play mostly clean so I'm a bit tentative that this will introduce some breakup to the amp. I'm stuck between this and the Boss DD-8 as I will ultimately only use it for a slight slapback like you showed here and Im wondering if it's worth the extra money or if at that point they will sound similar anyway.
Thanks for the comment Jak! This was played through a 1976 Fender Champ, and the preamp tubes break it up a little at a higher volume, but I didn't notice any more breakup from using the delay. I compressed this video a little, as usual, but I tried to keep it as true to life as possible. I am a huge fan of the Belle Epoch, but there are many great players that use a Boss delay, as well. So go with whatever works for you!
You can adjust the amount of boost from the pre-amp to way above or well below unity if you so desired, so you don't have to worry about it pushing the amp if you don't want. It does alter the sound in a noticeable way but I really enjoy the change. I don't have a huge board and likely wouldn't run a dedicated buffer/preamp but I've adjusted the switch inside this one so that I'm always using it's preamp, even with the pedal off.
@@ScottyGMusic great sounds and playing too bud. I also play a tele through a clean fender champ. Nice to hear some cleans from that little thing! Everyone seems to want to crank them. (I mean, it can be fun.)
It actually has an internal switch, where you can choose true bypass or normal bypass, which is kind of a crazy feature. I have set it to true as long as I have owned it.
@@ScottyGMusic - Thank you for the info. I just purchased a used one from Reverb. I'll open it up when it arrives and do the same and switch to the True Bypass. Thanks again!
Sorry to hear; it could have been defective, which I admit is surprising. I have played mine through a Mesa Dual Rectifier in a live situation, and it worked fine. I am not an endorser though.
Sounds really cool, always wanted to hear this pedal, really adds a lot to the tone
Thanks for checking this out; it is a fun pedal!
Sounds awesome!
And for someone with no musical skills, it was great to see the tech behind it as well.
Thank you Paul, glad you enjoyed it!

Heck yeah Rian, glad you enjoyed the video!
Thanks for the demo! Very useful. What is your compressor set at?
Hi Bob, glad you found it useful! It was around 11 o'clock on the level, and just after 10 o'clock on sensitivity.
@@ScottyGMusic Thank you!

@@philmakesnoise Thanks for the input Phil! I had heard about that adjustment, but I hadn't tried it myself.

I owned one of these, sounded noisy and thin. Ended up selling for half of what I paid. Only sounds decent at low volume
