This is why COMEDOWN MACHINE is the strokes most underrated album. This is also why JULIAN CASABLANCAS is a lyrical genius(in the realms of cobain and lennon) . His ability to write a CONVERTIBLE song. Very rare that you have a song writer create a pop-rock song and have it read perfectly in a choir, country-folk. The thing is he's been doing it for years. This cover is incredible too.
So the authorship credits for most songs from CM are as follows: - Fabrizio Moretti, 1980- ; Citizenship: Italy. Authorship: music. - Julian Casablancas, 1978- ; Citizenship: United States. Authorship: music, lyrics. - Nicholas Valensi, 1981- ; Citizenship: United States. Authorship: music. - Albert Hammond, Jr., 1980- ; Citizenship: United States. Authorship: music. -Nikolai Fraiture, 1978- ; Citizenship: United States. Authorship: music. look it up.
+noize2040 well, CM is and always be my favourite album from The Strokes. Tap Out, One Way Trigger, Slow Animals, 50 50, Happy Ending, Partners In Crime..... all of theam are very good songs. Don't know why but, almost all Strokes fans don't like it that much.
I came across this cover the year it was posted when I was in my early teens. About once a year ever since, I’ve come back to watch it and it brings back memories and the feeling of being a kid again. I pray everyone in the video is still doing well. God bless.
Just saw them at Red Rocks and this was the song they walked out to. When they were all on stage Julian goes “well that was cool as hell, should we even start?”
This shows 2 important things that everybody should be taught at school : 1° When you work hard, you can make incredible things. Whoever you are. Whatever your age. 2° The Strokes is (still) an f*** amazing melodic band.
I finally found it! I was there during The Strokes’ Singapore day 2 show and they played this cover as they were all coming up the stage. This brought me to tears. Wow.
Can I just say that was one of the most magical strokes covers i have seen in a while, all of you were absolutely brilliant! The instrumentals you did with your voice were nothing short of spectacular and the singers were also completely brilliant. I have sent this link to julians manager hopefully jules will give it a listen I think he will love this great stuff keep up the good work kids this is fantastic :)
This is INSANELY good!! I didnt know what to expect when i seen this thumbnail but seeing how i just discovered Chances, I was really hoping at the very least that this was just okay. Boy I was wrong. This is PHENOMENAL!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
I love the vibrato from the gal with the leather jacket. So smooth!! What a neat arrangement. Glad to see another generation of Strokes fans...though I'm sure the choral teacher must've been a teen in the early aughts and is introducing them all to it. This pleases me 🤗
I waited for ya I waited for ya I waited on ya But now I don't You didn't see it I didn't see it I didn't see it But now, oh, I do I play your game I play your game Now I play your game I play your game I take my chances alone Get on your horse and be gone I will not wait up for you anymore So you can ask me if something is wrong Will you go? I don't know anymore When the night isn't ready for you It's a feeling I know that dogs you They invited a stewardess, too Now they want you to see it Here's to days he decides he's got time And he claims that it's not a surprise When he finds out the truth's on his side I take my chances alone Get on your horse and be gone I will not wait up for you anymore So you can ask me if something is wrong Will you go? I don't know anymore I don't believe anyone As they crawl out of my way Waiting for the night Leaving night by night You can see me travel We could be in trouble every night We're having a new life
This literally broke my heart today 💔 I've got the Comedown Machine CD for Christmas and Chances and One Way Trigger became my favourites. To see children making this song this way, with fairly melancholic lyrics for me at this moment broke my heart. Absolutely beautiful tribute. Julian should be broud. I mean children covering The Strokes, world has hope ❤️
Well, I just don't see why it should matter whether or not the younger kids actively listen to the Strokes. Doesn't really affect the quality of their singing, you know? Think of primary- and secondary-school theater performances. It's just a bunch of kids reading from a script that was written by someone else, let's say Shakespeare, in whom they might not have a whole lot of interest. But they enjoy acting, just as the kids in this choir enjoy singing, and some of them are very good at it. Surely you can appreciate that, even if THEY don't fully appreciate the artwork they're reproducing.
I’ve thought about this rendition 10 times at least and here I am listening again. Thank you for leading this generation to The Strokes and for allowing me to hear their music again for the first time. ❤️😎
This is the best thing I have seen in a long time. The girl at 2:16 stood out to me especially, so good! Then again, it's my favorite part of the song so maybe I'm biased. Great job to the all the kids, and whoever arranged for this to happen. Such a great opportunity to introduce them to a great song and a great band, on top of honing their musical interests.
Been knowing this cover since its release, the moment I heard this during Singapore day 2 sound check, I couldn't be more happier. It’s just so special that The Strokes really acknowledge their fans, its so personal and intimate ❤
i just cant stop rewatching it....and its been a month or so now...its so comforting to the ears and at same time the lyrics naturally raises some disquietude...its brilliant
What I like about the CCC is that the harmonies are lovely and easy to follow. I learn or steal something new every time I watch this. Love the effort I see, and the hopefulness that comes to me from the kids. Thanks.
the strokes are my favorite band and have been for a very long time. It's hard to find new interpretations on their music. This acapella sent chills down my spine.
Love this! Kudos to whomever organized this! Beautiful work and so impressed on the talent and ability of each performer! What an amazing experience! thank you! I want to see more!
Even tho the 2nd verse is wrong "When the night isn't ready for you.. 'It's a fleeting unorthodox view' ".. this is one incredible cover! keep up the great work
The strokes used your cover for their walk in concert when they were in Singapore. I remember straight away it was from you guys!!
i was at that concert such an awesome night, flew all the way from the philippines
It was beautiful
Thank you so much for letting us know- that’s so cool! Wish I could have been there…
Chances is a terrific ballad. One of the most underrated Strokes songs. Whoever picked this song out for the kids to cover is pretty damn hip.
Nailed it
The most impressive thing about this is that they were able to find out the lyrics.
1:49 The girl with the glasses,a future Dj right there.
The Strokes played this as an intro to their gig and it is hauntingly beautiful ❤
this comment, yasssss. omg, it is haunting me since. was looking for it after the show and here i am on repeat
I WAS THERE TOO IT GAVE ME GOOSEBUMPS
Pentaport?
THEY DID IT AT RED ROCKS TOO
And at All Points East festival in London yesterday 😊
Who ever the choir teacher is deserves a metal and a huge raise
OK SO they freakin OPENED their red rocks concert (8/14/23) with this cover y’all i can die HAPPY
comedown machine 4everrr

This cover is incredible too.
+noize2040 Comedown Machine is so underrated it makes me sad :(
+noize2040 fab wrote this one, actually
Andrew D. fab doesn't even write lyrics.
These are totally Julians lyrics.

I've been a fan of the Strokes since I was 12 and this made me cry to see how my favourite band reach a new generation is moving I don't know why
+Armordillo Gamer Btw I'm myself a Christian, I'm just not crazy religious.
I cried of happiness. The Strokes changed my life, this too.
cover of Human Sadness
skwe3d i hope they do too
1:11 3:15 I wanna hear more of her voice 😭😭😭
I came across this cover the year it was posted when I was in my early teens. About once a year ever since, I’ve come back to watch it and it brings back memories and the feeling of being a kid again. I pray everyone in the video is still doing well. God bless.
Just saw them at Red Rocks and this was the song they walked out to. When they were all on stage Julian goes “well that was cool as hell, should we even start?”
I'm just waiting for the cover of Juicebox.
+Matt Eldridge And Human Sadness haha
+patmc96 A cover of Human Sadness by them would be so awesome.
Machu Picchu
This brought me to tears. The Strokes are incredibly underrated.
Absolutely Beautiful! Julian would be proud.
That little girl who sang some of the lyrics in the beginning blew my mind, wow! She has some talent!
These children will remember this song forever, even when they will be old
This shows 2 important things that everybody should be taught at school :

Love to See the Kids growing up from video to Video ;) the Voice of the Girl in the Black Leather jacket is just amazing 😍
+HK Agreed ! Is she the soloist we can hear on the cover of Chinese, 6 years ago from now ?
These kids are freaking amazing. The soloists especially really moved me (nearly to tears). This is phenomenal, honestly unbelievable.
same. cannot watch this with dry eyes
I have no ever seen something so perfect respect music, this isn't just music, this is a piece of art.
This is what that Kid's Bop crap should do
honestly? no XD they wouldn't do it justice
Reece Crump I meant that kids bop should be full of renditions of songs like this. not turned into pop crap stuff lol
Can I just say that was one of the most magical strokes covers i have seen in a while, all of you were absolutely brilliant! The fact that The Strokes used this version as an opening for both concerts in Singapore recently
Korea too
The girl in the black jacket might have one of the most beautiful voices in the world. it's so clear and beautiful
This is INSANELY good!! I didnt know what to expect when i seen this thumbnail but seeing how i just discovered Chances, I was really hoping at the very least that this was just okay. Boy I was wrong. This is PHENOMENAL!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Coming here after The Strokes concert here in Paris. They used this cover as the opening of the show! Amazing!
I am such a choir geek and songs like these and covers like these make me have goosebumps everywhere
sorry i was 7 years late. beautiful, just beautiful guys
I love the vibrato from the gal with the leather jacket. So smooth!! What a neat arrangement. Glad to see another generation of Strokes fans...though I'm sure the choral teacher must've been a teen in the early aughts and is introducing them all to it. This pleases me 🤗
This is so beautiful! It's awesome to expose these young minds to the greatness that is The Strokes!! Amazing job everyone.
BEAUTIFUL! I've shared this with The Strokes community! ❤️🎶
I waited for ya
I waited for ya
I waited on ya
But now I don't
You didn't see it
I didn't see it
I didn't see it
But now, oh, I do
I play your game
I play your game
Now
I play your game
I play your game
I take my chances alone
Get on your horse and be gone
I will not wait up for you anymore
So you can ask me if something is wrong
Will you go?
I don't know anymore
When the night isn't ready for you
It's a feeling I know that dogs you
They invited a stewardess, too
Now they want you to see it
Here's to days he decides he's got time
And he claims that it's not a surprise
When he finds out the truth's on his side
I take my chances alone
Get on your horse and be gone
I will not wait up for you anymore
So you can ask me if something is wrong
Will you go?
I don't know anymore
I don't believe anyone
As they crawl out of my way
Waiting for the night
Leaving night by night
You can see me travel
We could be in trouble every night
We're having a new life
Come back to this every 6 months, think it's my favourite musical arrangement of all time

Is it bad I really, really wanna see them just cover a bunch more Strokes songs? This cover's incredible!
+Corey McSwagger
Why would that be bad? This is amazing.
Well, I just don't see why it should matter whether or not the younger kids actively listen to the Strokes. Doesn't really affect the quality of their singing, you know?

i keep coming back to this GEM every other month

Used this at their walk in from red rocks..❤❤❤ amazingly beautiful 😊❤
This made me very happy.
I just saw The Stokes at Red Rocks Amphitheater last night and they played this at the beginning and they came out on stage.
Tan melancólica y misteriosa como la original ...excelente cover de mi canción favorita de The strokes
It's been 11 months, that's 10 months too long without a video!!
Would be great to see more Strokes covers especially from their latest album but I'm thinking most of these kids have grown up now.
I’ve thought about this rendition 10 times at least and here I am listening again. Thank you for leading this generation to The Strokes and for allowing me to hear their music again for the first time. ❤️😎
3:15 O_O
This is amazing that a children's choir chose a strokes song - these kids are so talented
+SoaringMuse always in strokes vids, Soaring Muse

The ending is something you would hear walking through Lothlorien! Amazing stuff
Been knowing this cover since its release, the moment I heard this during Singapore day 2 sound check, I couldn't be more happier. It’s just so special that The Strokes really acknowledge their fans, its so personal and intimate ❤
The Strokes played this before they performed in Singapore recently. I'm so happy I found this beautiful cover
They played this cover for intro to my show! AMAZING I SHOUTED
i just cant stop rewatching it....and its been a month or so now...its so comforting to the ears and at same time the lyrics naturally raises some disquietude...its brilliant
When the night isn’t ready for you with the sweetest most innocent voice hits you ❤

well this is the coolest thing I've seen this week
I've never teared up during the rendering of a song til now. Absolutely majestic!
speechless. Gorgeous voices, the beauty of the art. I feel it deeply in my soul.
I get goosebumps every time I listen to this.
Oh my God I thought I was the only "kid" (I'm 14) that actually knew the Strokes. They all sound so good, I'm really shocked
Chances was my favourite song from Comedown Machine. Remember having it on repeat gazillion times that year
Some people say music can take you to another place, this song just just nailed it.
It is so cute that the little lass in pink get to sing the highest parts because she is so little :)
Kudos to the teacher for putting this together
Years later and one Spotify shuffle song && I came back to this video once again in my life! Still one of my favorites 🥺
What I like about the CCC is that the harmonies are lovely and easy to follow. I learn or steal something new every time I watch this. Love the effort I see, and the hopefulness that comes to me from the kids. Thanks.
Such fantastic children, amazing performance, and great camera work. Please give them my regards!
Every time I listen to this I get goosebumps and teary eyed :') absolutely beautiful!!
The power of the vocal cords. Voice is the supreme instrument indeed.
the strokes are my favorite band and have been for a very long time. It's hard to find new interpretations on their music. This acapella sent chills down my spine.

Even tho the 2nd verse is wrong "When the night isn't ready for you.. 'It's a fleeting unorthodox view' ".. this is one incredible cover! keep up the great work
I just got teary-eyed.
I saw this as it was shared on The Strokes' official Facebook Page. Huge fan of this song and your cover is really terrific. Well done all round!
Absolutely mindblowing! Congrast, kids!
