I don’t think you realize how much of a service you are doing the car community with documenting this process. This is a dying art and the younger generation will one day use this video to get some pointers on how to rebuild your motor 40 years from now.
Thats an art form right there 4:39 The Wankle Engine is something that has always fascinated me, since I was a kid, and when I first heard about how the engine functioned, it blew my mind, so seeing these video series of this engine rebuild is epic!
I think the main reason I watch your guys channel is because you do videos like this. Way more in-depth full engine build specific videos. Everyone can push out some bolt on installs and dyno runs but this RAW and UNIQUE rotor build is super interesting to me. Also...Bolder vs MVMT? ;)
I love these videos. You guys at are the best in the game. No one else goes in depth like y’all do. I’ve been wanting to know in an outs of a rotary for a long time now. It’s the best part of my day after work 11 hours and come home and watch what you’ll have.
Y'all more than likely not going to see this, but I've learned more on how the rotary is made/how it works than I ever known before. Awesome assembly "illustration" Great channel and vid!
DNA Garage Do a bloody good job they obviously have a reputation that people never bring an engine back as faulty because I could never see them sending out a defective unit.
Hi Micky, A very long time ago (80s) i watched a gentleman build one of these engines (for an RX2) and he took to it with a dremal porting tool and removed all the ugly and lumpy casting marks witch made the final engine very unique to look at and easy to clean. But it looked really really nice. Is this not something that is done today or just not the look that your aiming for. Thank you for your effort and i really enjoy the channel.. nz kiwi.
I really like the odd casting marks and such. I appreciate OEM parts for what they are and I just like to make them look new or nicer. Grinding off casting marks seems a lot like shaving an engine bay. Not my style.
FTB For the boys! Late comment, but it was so cool meeting you Mickey in Hawaii. Youll remember me because we joked about looking like twins. Haha Rx7 coming along!!
I always wondered how rotary engines worked . Never looked up how they did. Now what little japanese guy thought this up now? Pretty neat stuff! Keep up the good work guys!!
This thing is gonna brapp so nice, can’t wait to hear it. Awesome.! I drive a eg6 B16 myself, but i alway’s liked the rotary’s. I’m all about the rev’s.! My eg6 hits 10.000 rpm 😍
why not lighten and balance the rotors? also why not increase combustion area (dimples in the rotor)? Why are they not oiling the engine during assembly (on the rotor faces)? Why did you choose not to do a full dowel pin on the block?
@@mickeyandrade3435 Fair enough, so where those actions performed, just wondering and if not why not? What doweling did you go with if you did, partial or full?. I enjoyed the theory put forth on the apex seals. Though i still did not see any material missing on the rotors, or dowels, or assembly oil on the rotor faces. Ive seen many rotor assemblies and these steps seem commonplace during a performance build.
just a question. I am not sure if the wavy slots in cooling chambers are so much efectives as they was mentioned. They increases surface of chambers that is true, but also they are parpendicular to water flow looks like. It causes that laminar flow from smootch chambers is changed to vortex flow. This change increases the resistance to flow and slows down speed of flow. IMHO slots parallel to flow will not disturb the flow and can by more effective. Please correct me if i am wrong. (not a english please i am not native)
Bro, we are a small team. I think most of you underestimate the amount of time it takes Evan to edit these videos for you all. No milking going on here. Just that there's only so much time in a day. The RUclips channel is only a very small part of our business. The fact we are even uploading daily is a lot. Thank you for understanding and your support.
Love the build I'm in shock how amazing the rotaries are I had the rx8 and it blew on me not sure what but couldn't fund the rebuild what's the difference I'm told it's the water jackets hence why the rx8 wasn't turbo'd but I'm no expert by any means just wanting answers so if I get an rx8 I want the 13b rew in it
Not sure what those water seals are made of but in relation to your comment about using vaseline on seals, you should never ever use vaseline on rubber seals. The rubber will initially swell when absorbed and the seal will be perfect but vaseline is petroleum based and it will eat away at the rubber making it perish faster. Rubber seals prefer 100% silicone grease!
Very impressed with how these guys are building your motor. The extra attention to detail they have shown is awesome. The water seal application is something I haven't seen before, as is super gluing the corner seals. The choice of colour for the motor is BANG ON the money. Super clean and looks OEM. I'm loving the mature manner in which you're putting this together. I actually unsubscribed from Dahm because frankly I think he's lost the plot. He doesn't seem to give a shit about his cars anymore. Blowing up his 20B was it for me. TJ Hunt is more show with bags and limiter bashing for 'likes'. Keep up the good work. Are you planning on street/touge set-up or track?
Why didn't you address the big glob of silicone or epoxy blocking off the coolant passage to the intake, which is not specific to the FD? That coolant passage is found in the FC rx7s, and not the FD. However, series 5 (89-91) housings are considered to be equal to FD housings, but you just got to plug a big hole in the housing to use it on an FD.
It's the worst when you find a decent build video and you're like, ah now I can binge watch a build thread and you go to look for the next video and it's not made yet...

throtl switched my mvmt out 🤭
Hey mickey love your videos and all throtl videos your builds are #1
awesome freaking video, very educational and informative and this makes me appreciate the rotary engine even more!
I don’t think you realize how much of a service you are doing the car community with documenting this process. This is a dying art and the younger generation will one day use this video to get some pointers on how to rebuild your motor 40 years from now.
I have really enjoyed this process and capturing it for you all.
So now I get FD content from you, Tommy and Rob. This is badass
Did rob found his engine?
Now this is Epic
Thats an art form right there 4:39 The Wankle Engine is something that has always fascinated me, since I was a kid, and when I first heard about how the engine functioned, it blew my mind, so seeing these video series of this engine rebuild is epic!
I love learning more about these rotary engines. Thanks throtl!
thank YOU for supporting us and watching!
Fyi its ok to have a video longer than 15 min... we will watch it.
looks like those guys are pros they dont hesitate it just keeps moving forward glad to see this today
Dig seeing the assembly of the engine! Awesome work!
I think the main reason I watch your guys channel is because you do videos like this.
Way more in-depth full engine build specific videos. Everyone can push out some bolt on installs and dyno runs but this RAW and UNIQUE rotor build is super interesting to me.
Also...Bolder vs MVMT? ;)
Thank you greatly for not cursing and using bad language as much. My kids like to see engine building as much as I do.
My pleasure. We understand this and try our darndest to keep it to a minimum. :-)

Beckerman always winning with the fresh music! Mickey - We can all see the happiness in you - watching this go down is awesome. Thanks guys.
Glad my feelings are visible. This is a true passion project for me.
Thanks Mickey for explaining how important ceramic apex seals differ from those E&J seals. It’s a good thing they suggested those E&J seals
I have to admit rotary engine is a piece of art...love this videos great job throtl
Y'all more than likely not going to see this, but I've learned more on how the rotary is made/how it works than I ever known before. Awesome assembly "illustration" Great channel and vid!
I can't wait to see this FD finished dude. It's gonna be dope with the MickeySpec treatment.
These video is pure poetry, seen these old timer putting everything together 💪🔥
These engines are beautiful in and out. Wish we had more rotarys now in days.
Never seen a rotor engine be assembled. Great content Mickey, can’t wait to hear it roar !
Currently on the shitter at work just to watch this
best comment so far hahahaha #keepitREAL
Same
17min shit..I feel bad for your tail pipe😱
Amazing how the original designer of this rotary engine came up with this design. Amazing stuff. Enjoyed the video.
Never hit like so fast. This is what I been waiting for. Cant wait til this baby runs.
seeing that little dorito in the housing spin around just blows my mind, what a crazy awesome engine. I wish it was more common
DNA Garage Do a bloody good job they obviously have a reputation that people never bring an engine back as faulty because I could never see them sending out a defective unit.
DNA stands for Do Nothing Average. There's a reason I chose them to partner with me. ;-)
Man I gotta give this rotaries respect. So simplistic yet so sophisticated. I want one
Man I wish I had a grampa like mr John with all that knowledge he has. Great job can't wait till fd hits the streets
Not even super into cars but I'm so invested in this build !
Hell yeah boys. Loving the build videos like this.
Can’t wait to find out more of what Mickey is doing to the RX-7.
Thank you for documenting the engine build so well!
This is the sickest video to see how the motor is put back together this is really cool stuff as always keep up the good work !
THank you
Love the video! Rotaries have a special place in my heart.....but WTF Evan! Such a tease. Love this build can’t wait for the RX8 content.
Hi Micky, A very long time ago (80s) i watched a gentleman build one of these engines (for an RX2) and he took to it with a dremal porting tool and removed all the ugly and lumpy casting marks witch made the final engine very unique to look at and easy to clean. Good Luck with your project, I'm from Dominican Republic and i'm your fan Mickey
Im rebuilding my EJ25 and its a breeze compared to what this looks like. Jeeze man. Thats crazy to watch.
Good choice on color looks fantastic I seriously cant wait to see this car complete
Class is in session. Too much great knowledge!
This video was super awesome. I love seeing the technical aspect of building a car! ❤️
This video makes me more and more want to just sell off my project and start with a rotary. Awesome work dudez!
5:32 Yes!! Air goes in!! Also, I was wondering why the exhaust holes were not ported? Can't wait to see this monster in the dyno!!
The exhaust holes are ported. ;-)
Watching the mastery of motor building, puzzle builder =) Going to need a ride Mickey! 1.3L of fury!
You got it brother!
Was going to wait to watch them all at once, but couldn't do it. Nice work buddy!
That rotor engine looks beautyful
FTB For the boys! Late comment, but it was so cool meeting you Mickey in Hawaii. Youll remember me because we joked about looking like twins. Haha Rx7 coming along!!
This is true art. Such a beautiful process
I always wondered how rotary engines worked . Never looked up how they did. Now what little japanese guy thought this up now? Pretty neat stuff! Keep up the good work guys!!
Brucio Wilbur look up Felix Wankel. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felix_Wankel
German really thats neat
This thing is gonna brapp so nice, can’t wait to hear it. Awesome.! I drive a eg6 B16 myself, but i alway’s liked the rotary’s. I’m all about the rev’s.! My eg6 hits 10.000 rpm 😍
Nice!
so far yet so close to finishing up , can’t wait to see the FD 😉
white lithium grease is best for engine assembly it provides better lubrication and last longer the conventional assembly lube
I NEED MOAR! love the content guys. Very Impressive.
Every time I see a rotor move in it's housing it satisfies me
why not lighten and balance the rotors? also why not increase combustion area (dimples in the rotor)? Why are they not oiling the engine during assembly (on the rotor faces)? Why did you choose not to do a full dowel pin on the block?
I didn't show everything brother.
@@mickeyandrade3435 Fair enough, so where those actions performed, just wondering and if not why not? What doweling did you go with if you did, partial or full?. Movement Vs Boulder 😂🤔
😜
This is HEAVEN !!!! Thank you for sharing !!!
This is an absolute art form.

Wow... insane .. how much power after the rebuild do you think it will make now with these upgrades ??
Ty
Just finish the video with the finally assembly. Quit milking the views chach. On another note can’t wait to see the fd finished. Great work Mickey.

Got some good tips watching this thanks keep it up can't wait to see this in the car an runing.
Okay I actually love you Evan. Lol the Blue's Clues won me over. +1000
Never seen a rotary engine being built it’s like making a dam sandwich with all the topping I give it to that dude he knows his stuff
I turned off TJs video for this. Lol
haha
Good ol hylomar blue.i always use it on intake so you get no boost leaks at all
Damn, watch sponsor rivalry in the shop. MVMT vs Bolder
Love the build I'm in shock how amazing the rotaries are I had the rx8 and it blew on me not sure what but couldn't fund the rebuild what's the difference I'm told it's the water jackets hence why the rx8 wasn't turbo'd but I'm no expert by any means just wanting answers so if I get an rx8 I want the 13b rew in it
amazing that some1 designed and build an engine like this, just look at the thing 😎
That Blues Clues clip, Ahhh.... childhood.
Great editin on the last shot
Here for my Mickey Spec fix
Mickey the videos are great always waiting for your next one.
Rotary gods would be proud!
Cant wait to see the completed rx 7 its been 2 long lol
Man I sure hope John is teaching someone his skill for when he is gone
Love TJ rx7 but damn Mickey this is going to be 🔥can’t wait to see them both
Nothing better than a fresh 13b chook cooker
Yea buddy!
Hey Mickey, would you ever consider a VeilSide bodykit? Like the D1-GT or the Fortune? (I like how it looks now but it’s just a question) :)
if you sponsor him im sure he'll go for it! veilside look sick though
LOL. The kit is 40k.

Rubber seals prefer 100% silicone grease!
Watching this makes me happy!!!
This video was so amazing to watch!
Dang .. cliff hanger.. can't wait till the next video!
Dorito love !
Ty for going into such detail haha, learning more each time Mickey much appreciated :-) :-)
I could watch hours of you guys awesome vids working please keep it up !!!!!
Thank you Rufus.
damn seriously appreciate these assemble videos siick luv it, been livin that dorito life since 2004
I wonder how they figure out the alignment of the rotor on the eccentric shaft. Does it just fit in one way only????
I'M FRIGGIN GEEKED FOR YOU MICKEY!!! I'm serious bro, I'd be sleeping on a cot next to that engine cuddling it til it was done! hahahaha
Very impressed with how these guys are building your motor. The extra attention to detail they have shown is awesome. Keep up the good work.
Are you planning on street/touge set-up or track?
Thanks brother. This will be a street car and will do skids in it for fun. ;-)
It's finally here, oooo docterrrr
Hmm never seen that before . I seen mainly vasoline
these engines are crazy
What was the blue stuff he was painting on the seals?
Why didn't you address the big glob of silicone or epoxy blocking off the coolant passage to the intake, which is not specific to the FD?
That coolant passage is found in the FC rx7s, and not the FD. However, series 5 (89-91) housings are considered to be equal to FD housings, but you just got to plug a big hole in the housing to use it on an FD.
Amazing footage!
Those ports tho! Damn little momma!
Awesome video!! 🙌🙌
Thanks for all your support Danny.
Mickey Andrade no problem cant wait to see the build all finished!!! It’s going to be epic !!!
It's the worst when you find a decent build video and you're like, ah now I can binge watch a build thread and you go to look for the next video and it's not made yet...
Brap for life
What about goopy seals? I've heard those are good.
