Calum, I'm impressed that you assembled that chainsaw like you knew what you were doing, and you were. BUT I'm more impressed that it actually ran as I had some doubts, my bad! You've got yourself a skill that'll be useful for decades to come. Great job and be safe.
Thank you very much!
Chainsaws are so easy to put back together lol I put back many in pieces. The only thing that would get under my skin is when sellers try to demand almost full value for their junk and I have to literally click sense in their head and tell them okay so you don’t know how to put this back together so you think I’m going to pay you almost full price for your puzzle box when I can get the same saw in mint condition for what you’re asking except it actually runs from elsewhere lol
Pops on 5 and is running on 8 pulls doesn't get much better than that.
Love your tool for putting the crank in the case, pretty ingenious.👍👍
Craig Timmons cheers. The vice idea was inspired by a combo of Mattyo’s tools and people who use a hydraulic press to install them. I did forget the clip of me using mums oven to install the bearings. Probably better it isn’t on the internet anyway
@@v26224 Probably is, Mom would get really mad if she knew you had an old oily saw in her oven.🤣
Great work Thanks for sharing
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome Video! I would actually like to see the footage at real time, and talking your way through the process.
Noted!
Nice video and excellent job!
cheers mate
well i have a old ms460...bunch of parts in a box i was thinking about restoring. found this site.
good luck
Great vid Calum... wish I had that vice, is it a joinery bench vice looks like the type in secondary school wood work class...
Nicky Walsh yes it is an old woodworking vice. It was given to Dad many years ago when the woodwork shop near where he grew up closed.
Do you have any info on the numbers printed on the chain saw scabbard covers? I’m trying to find out what they mean.
What are the numbers, could possibly be the stihl part number
@@v26224 50, 45, 43, 20, 19 and 17. They are spaced out on their own little blocks. Definitely not serial numbers
@@40drinker sounds like the bar length in cm and inches

no pressure or vaccumn test? your a ROOKIE...LMFAO
usaisalwaysnumber1 if the saw is running fine there is no need to test it. I could if I wanted to however when I fired the saw up and ran it it performed perfectly. The only reason I would perform one would be if there was abnormalities in the running of the saw. Just because someone on the internet said that they always test it doesn’t mean you have to always test it.
