Hi Mr. We have the same problem with the same model of server. I was looking at the comments here below but, I don´t understand how you did not lose your RAID Controller data, while you did the job and the server was without AC energy and without Smart Array Battery. Could you explain us? I need to replace the spare but obviously I want to keep all safe and so not lose my current RAID 5. Regards!
Actually Its for emergency power failure backup.....if its removed by proper way...which means after shutdown your RAID will keep in safe...You can replace the spare after proper shutdown
Hi , I've an issue with the same model DL380 Gen9. High pitch noise from server occurs randomly(once reboot the server noise stopped). what could be the causes? pls advise , thanks
Basically that battery is Backup for RAID Controller. You dont have that battery in your server, If power failure occurred , RAID Controller Might be failed. Thanks for asking.
RAID controllers use Cache for performance reasons, well, imagine if you lost power when you had 64 MB of data in cache. That 64 MB of data will never get written to disk. Goodbye data. The battery ensures that the data stays in cache and is written to disk as soon as power is restored. Modern controllers won't allow this kind of data loss, so your data won't be at risk, it will just disable cache. A RAID array with a bad cache battery is not going to perform well, but you will not lose data. It's just going to be 5 to 10x slower than normal.
Dear@@shrenikshah7552 , Spare parts with part number 815983-001 is no longer available, and you can use 871264-001. support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-c04823226
hi my friend, now you changed the battery, you said there was no damage in your raid structure, your system continued to work the same, I would appreciate it if you could return it urgently.
