Yep, very common issue. Mine flew off on the trail the first time and I never found it. I ordered new parts and used red loctite and it came off again in the garage. That little M5 bolt is too short for all that pressure from the spring... I now drill/ tap the hole all the way through the kick stand and use a longer bolt (25mm) w/ red loctite and never had another issue again.
@@BlueDawnEnduro no problem! I'm gonna be doing this on my brother's bike soon, so I'll probably make a video on it. Simple solution that works very well
Same thing happened to me on the trail today. 16hr 2022 KTM XC-W 300. Couldn't find the screw and bushing. Found the metal bracket 20' away after looking for 30 minutes. Good thing KTM puts the rubber strap just in case the spring system fails.
Extend the bracket screw hole in the kickstand for a longer 25 mm length screw (drill and tap) giving it more threads with red threadlock -- mine has never backed out again.
Mine flew off when I had my bike next to my truck. It flew so high that it was in the air for about 10 seconds before all the parts came down and landed on the windshield of the truck! All the parts were recovered surprisingly. Loctited after that and it flew off a second time about a year later. This time some parts were lost. Ordered them online from Rocky Mountain I believe along with some spares. Check those bolts regularly!
Extend the bracket screw hole in the kickstand for a 25 mm length screw -- Drill and tap then use red threadlock -- mine has never backed out again. I just passed 150 hours.
My 2022 KTM 300 XC TPI does the same thing. Mine came with no thread locker. It has sprung off 3 times in the 1st 10 hours. I will use a longer screw per your way & use red loctite. I will see if there is enough room so I can drill a small hole im the screw on 2 end or the otherb& lockwire it so can never back out on its own.
That could have messed up your day...👀 My GPX has a cloned copy of the Husky kickstand, I noticed both the main and clip retention bolts coming coming loose, not too long after I got the bike, they both got the red Loctite treatment.
My 22 te150i shot it's kickstand spring on the 1st day out @ 35 miles. New stand arrived today, new factory assembled "peg screw" was backing out again on the 1st movement to the down position. The spring is going to get someone in the face or eye eventually.
Drill and tap the screw hole all the way through the kickstand then use red Loctite on a longer screw, I think 25 mm in length but measure it to be sure. That has been my permanent solution at almost 80 hours now.
My stock kickstand only last me about 6-9 months. And now another 9-12 months later, my trailtech replacement severed the main bolt, and they made me pay for a new bolt....duh...
Dang, could have been bad. New trailer Ron? You have the short bolt for the sidestand to disable the auto retract feature, did the dealer install that? Maybe it came loose then.
Hey Phil! I've had the trailer almost 4 years. It sits there most of the time! I like the auto retract. But, the screw that holds the spring bracket onto the kickstand backed all the way out because all those parts disappeared in two seconds. I thinking more and more the dealer F'ed this up because my dealter didn't install the rubber loop either (which honestly I don't miss). That small screw needs red thread-lock IMHO!
This needs to be a class action lawsuit. The dealer didn't take care of it under warranty even though they were notified within the first 30 days. We're still waiting and we're on month three. Ktm customer service wasn't any help either. When it flew off, it hit me in the face. #iveboughtmylastktm #ktm
EXACT same thing happened to me on my 501 except I was sitting in a huge parking lot with no cars around and I was able to find the "Shrapnel" about 20 to 30 feet away, I saw it happening right in front of my eyes when I lowered the stand. ****************** VERY DANGEROUS ****************** This is not the first time, the previous one my stand started dragging on the asphalt and someone honked at me.

I'm here because I just went to put bike away, reaching by hand to put the kickstand down and BOOM 💥 WTF parts flying. Now why can't Austrian engineers make a kickstand? 20 years of over priced bikes with the same problem kickstand?? 2021 Husky with 300 miles on it.
Fix: Drill and tap the bracket screw hole all the way through the kickstand then use red threadlock on a longer 25 mm length screw. Check the length to be sure. That has been my permanent solution at more than 80 hours now.

Thanks for sharing! I worried about the shortness too. Great solution. I will get to it.

Hi Ron, Yikes this a real hazard! Thanks for advising, I'll be taking care of this ASAP.
Woah. That’s dangerous. Glad you caught it at home.
Ya man, freaked me out a bit. Don't ignore your kickstand maintenance!
@@BlueDawnEnduro Definitely. We’re still all snowed up here in PA for a couple of weeks, so I’m gonna do a tear down and check everything real good.
3 hours on my husky 300 and it stripped out as well.

Its not a good design by KTM. Its adequate and somewhat forgivable since everything else is so good on the bikes.
Mine just did the same thing and the bike is one month old.

My dealer claims they disassemble and reassemble each bike. Because they are all assembled so poorly, they find flaws in every bike. So...
Just fixed my 22 erzberg bracket screw and spring shot off in a parking lot lol couldn't find a single piece funny thing is it was at 3.2 hrs
KTM needs to fix this with a longer screw and stronger threadlock. Its got potential to take an eye out.
Same bro shyt was annoying I’m rocking no spring I lost the bolt
Yep very annoying. If you have an tap (I think its M6 size) do as Cody says below. For now, my high strength red thread lock is holding.

why KTM doesn't fix this from the factory is baffling. So simple to fix.

Tap through it and red lock tight with a longer screw. Staying for 70 hours now.

It’s the bike Gods, telling you “delete the kickstand and go ride the bike!”.
Don’t need it if you’re riding it.
