The ACCA project in Kenya tackled barriers to sustainable tree growth and ecosystem preservation. It focused on promoting clean cooking in urban and ASAL areas, creating new livelihood opportunities for women and youth, and supporting green recovery. Key initiatives included upgrading public institutions' stoves, distributing clean cookstoves to 10,000 households, building the capacity of 500 women and youth, and enhancing energy policies in three counties. This one-year initiative aimed to help Kenya achieve 100% clean cooking by 2028, directly benefiting around 100,000 individuals and indirectly impacting 2 million.
Supported by the Government of Japan and UNDP, the ACCA project aligned with Kenya's commitment to reducing emissions by 32% by 2030, playing a crucial role in addressing the triple planetary crises, especially in drought-affected ASAL and peri-urban areas. Enjoy!
