Hey, this is one big project for me. As a noobie I have no clue how to organise the screws and reassemble the console. Maybe I should just leave the console running at 90°c. I guess it's time to let it go as it's already standing on its last legs
Thank you for this. There were a couple of broken pieces of plastic rattling around inside my PS3 and I needed to get them out because they were literally hitting the fan lol.
This looks way easier to open up and clean than my old fat ps3, thanks for the video! Definitely going to use it to clean an old ps3 slim that I found.

Man ive been so bored during quarantine just been cleaning all my electronics and this is the best disassembly explained by far for cleaning the ps3. Thanks again helped so much taking it apart
My PS3 slim's disc drive has started acting strangely. It has had problems reading some discs, and it sometimes takes multiple attempts for a disc to be read. The disc drive makes an odd clicking sound when I insert the disc and I don't think it's spinning in the drive properly. I've looked at all my discs and none of them are scratched. Do you think it's worth taking apart my PS3 to look at the disc drive? Have you heard of the PS3 disc drive not working for others?
Thanks for this awesome disassembly video. My ps3 has a picture on AV but no on HDMI. Do you know if usually the problem is only the hdmi port or the hdmi chip? Sadly there is no video about that on youtube yet
THANK GOD. I finally was able to find the last screw that was fucking with me... It was the one under the sticker on the bottom... Got that out, pulled the board out, and a random screw fell out of the motherboard shield. Now my Ps3 finally works again... After 10 years of sitting in my closet.
THATS WHERE IT IS i didn't watch the video full I just removed what I found and still couldn't find the last one thanks now I can hopefully make this thing work again
Bloody Legend mate. This really helped me. I have been using my PS3 heaps lately for games like Skate 3, GTA, Minecraft etc. And I can tell its needed a clean, I even had a dead Spider on top of my HardDrive!
Bought my PS3 about 10 years ago, played for about 100 hours total and stored it away. Recently got it jailbroken on 4.88 and now playing ALL THE GAMES. Fan was working too loud so I dissasembled it thanks to your video. No dust, almost pristine inside. Changed thermal paste, assembled it back. Got 1 screw left (lmao). Unfortunately, fan is still kinda loud, but I guess this is how it's supposed to be.

Anthony 0 seconds ago If you disconnect the fan from the assembly it is in, you don't have to unplug it from the motherboard. Keep the fan close to the board and tape it to the metal to keep it from getting crimped/cut. I just though of that and will be doing that on mine! It has plenty of wire to extend from it.
I just want to clean the fan and whereever i can reach. I dont want to take out everything and cant put it back/spoil it. Is it ok to just wipe/vacuum with the top cover off?
Mine wasn't this model and I had to break the top cover because there were screws holding it that were hidden by only 2 of the rubber stickers underneath it

FYI a very small flat head screwdriver will remove the security torx screws
And thread them lol.
That's a good way to destroy a flathead. It will just twist the blade until the screwdriver is useless. Just buy a torx. It's like $1 ffs
@@twizz420 agreed with both of those arguments. But whatever gets the job done! lol
