    About Singapore Airlines (from Wikipedia):
Singapore Airlines (abbreviation: SIA or SQ) is the flag carrier of the Republic of Singapore with its hub located at Singapore Changi Airport, and a member of the Star Alliance. The airline is notable for highlighting the Singapore Girl as its central figure in the corporate branding segment. Widely renowned as one of the best carriers, the airline is ranked as a 5-star airline by Skytrax, and it has also been ranked as the world's best airline five times. The airline operates a variety of Boeing and Airbus aircraft, including the A350, 787, 777, A380, and 737. Singapore Airlines Group has more than 20 subsidiaries, including numerous airline-related subsidiaries. SIA Engineering Company handles maintenance, repair, and overall (MRO) business across nine countries with a portfolio of 27 joint ventures including with Boeing and Rolls-Royce. Singapore Airlines Cargo operates SIA's freighter fleet and manages the cargo-hold capacity in SIA's passenger aircraft. Scoot, a wholly-owned subsidiary, operates as a low-cost carrier. Singapore Airlines was the first to put the Airbus A380-the world's largest passenger aircraft-as well as the Boeing 787-10 into service and is the only operator of the ultra-long-range (ULR) version of the Airbus A350-900. It ranks amongst the top 15 carriers worldwide in terms of revenue passenger kilometers and is ranked tenth in the world for international passengers carried. Singapore Airlines was voted as the Skytrax World's Best Airline Cabin Crew 2019. The airline has also won the second and fourth positions as the World's Best Airlines and World's Cleanest Airlines respectively in 2019. In 2023, the airline for the fifth time took the prize of "Best Airline" as well as the "Best First Class Airline" by Skytrax.
    About Boeing 777-300ER (from Wikipedia):
The Boeing 777, commonly referred to as the Triple Seven, is an American long-range wide-body airliner developed and manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. The 777 is the world's largest twinjet and the most-built wide-body airliner. The jetliner was designed to bridge the gap between Boeing's other wide-body airplanes, the twin-engined 767 and quad-engined 747, and to replace aging DC-10s and L-1011 trijets. Developed in consultation with eight major airlines, the 777 program was launched in October 1990, with an order from United Airlines. The 777-300ER ("ER" for Extended Range) is the B-market version of the -300. Its higher MTOW and increased fuel capacity permits a maximum range of 7,370 nautical miles (13,650 km; 8,480 mi) with 396 passengers in a two-class seating arrangement. The 777-300ER features raked and extended wingtips, a strengthened fuselage and wings, and a modified main landing gear. Its wings have an aspect ratio of 9.0. It is powered by the GE90-115B turbofan, the world's most powerful jet engine.

Have travelled Singapore Business Class about 4 times from Melbourne to London and they do have the BEST customer service out of all the airlines I have flown. They ALWAYS refer to you by name and you never have to ask for anything. The staff will always check to make sure you are happy and if you need anything. Plus the wide seats are the BEST!

Did you depart from Terminal 3, Dan? There is a dedicated First Class check-in facility with its own driveway as you approach the airport. A car-to-lounge service - it's like arriving at a hotel with its port-cochere and landscaped driveway, porter service, a dedicated passenger relations officer (who greets you at your car and will check you in), and a dedicated fast track channel from the facility through immigration and security directly to the departure area close to the lounges.

SQ12 departs out of T3. so unless it was an exception, he should have departed from T3 and if he was travelling by car to the airport departure drop off he missed the huge "FIRST CLASS CHECK IN" sign and private dropoff before all the numbered regular counters
-edit after watching the video again: yes the terminal and departure hall shown is T3. so he missed it. although the check in counter could have told him about the private check in next time for future reference: but dan didnt ask about it either

Thanks for reminding me just how much i miss SQ since i tried to economize over the last couple of years 😬 That said, Qatar Qsuites are great and after one of your video recommendations about Finnair Business Class, I opted for a Qatar return flight that included one leg of the journey on Finnair, so I got to enjoy their rather unique seats, which is wonderfully comfortable for a long haul flight. It’s just a shame that SQ’s Book The Cook still hasn’t been improved upon by any other airline, after all this time 👌

Great video as always. I flew on this exact product in 1A back in August from Frankfurt to JFK. They unfortunately took the A380 off that route when I flew it. This was my first time flying first class and it was the best flight of my life. All of the crew were amazing. Frankfurt’s catering could use a little improvement but overall decent. I can’t even imagine what the A380’s Suites are like.

  • @jpmasters-aus

Back in 2016 I flew first class on a 777 from Singapore to Manchester (via Munich). My connecting flight from Sydney was the A380 (with the old SQ First Class suites) so I was able to compare.
When I boarded the 777 I thought it would be a much lower experience due to the smaller open first class seats (then there were two rows of first class) and in reality I wondered what the difference might be with their Business Class seats.
Whilst the seats aren’t as private, but still soon realised that the space was much more than their Business Class seats.
The great thing of travelling SQ is the services from the flight crew.
The best example for me when we were on the ground in Munich. Passengers continuing to Manchester were not allowed to deplane and could observe the cleaners and reloading food. They also changed crew.
Once the new crew in First Class had settled in (still on the ground), there were only 2 of us in First Class, the senior flight in First came and introduced herself, and immediately said that she had seen that I prefer xxx Champagne could not be provided on the ground and they could only provide xxx Champagne, or would I like my early grey tea, black with honey whilst wet are waiting on the ground.
Because the flight wasn’t full, (ex Singapore) the Flight Attendant offered to set up the bed on the seat on the opposite side of the isle, which was excellent so there was much less hassle moving between being awake and sleeping or just laying down.
As Dan mentioned the service was amazing and they couldn’t do enough for me. And on my flight, just as Dan, when I went to the toilet they held the curtain open and the other FA opened the toilet door for me.
The only downside for me was my meals. I am gluten free, which means you don’t get any choices and for the flight over and back (and a few other First Class flights I have had) it is basically the same meal with very little rotation (even for the mains). Their other weakness in this area is for other passengers there is a wide variety of breads for meals and the opportunity for more. For GF passengers there is only one bread item per meal, which is don’t think is appropriate. I really wish SQ has an order your meals for GF passengers so that we can get food we are more likely to like and create variety. Finally in this area, the GF Desserts aren’t that great, and simple things like for the cheese selection they don’t add rice crackers on the plane, to cheese is without anything (as there is no more GF break and no GF crackers)
My view is SQ is they are amazing in service and have some great seats (even in the 777 First Class seats aren’t to the standard of the A380). However their major weakness is in the area of gluten free meals, and given meal are a great part of the First Class experience this is where they are a let down.

My first time flying SQ was when I was 14 yrs old (ages ago) ... even then their service was top notch. Glad to see their standards are just as steadfast as 20 yrs ago. Best part of boarding an SQ flight was the scent inside the aircraft, always just a light fragrance that I will always remember. I can never fault SQ crew service. If the service on-board is amazing beyond compare it is because the airline takes crew training so seriously.

?? Im a LH Senator, I fly Muc-Ham a lot and I have never paid 500€ one way for economy. Business class fares HH-Muc-HH are usually 300-400€… Return tickets in Eco used to be 100€ before covid and now they are 120-160 depending on the date& time of the flight.. If you do one/two legs on EW it’s even cheaper but ofc then you can’t go to the LH lounge in Muc (because EW is in T1)

So the takeaway to me is, that the offered service is still the major factor to creating a true difference. Not the hard product as seat and cabin looks. It must be a load of training for a crew to consistenty offer this spotless service with all the little touches that an average passenger would barely notice (e.g. curtain opening & meal presentation).

Oh when you are talking about Singapore Air’s service delivered by their FA, hands up , it’s unparalleled especially to European airlines. Typical south East Asian service , similar to Garuda Indonesia on all cabin or Malaysian in business class. Yes SQ might doesn’t have best seat on board or great lounge in Changi , but as Asian , their food is main point to fly with them.

Dan - the exclusive 1st class check in is before T3. You need to let your driver knows to drop you off there. BTW I met you on this flight from SIN - NRT.

Thanks for this great video mate😊, and would love if you could add a note in your video and correct the critical error and not mislead others to think that there isn’t when actually there is indeed a dedicated check in lounge for First Class SQ passengers at Terminal 3, with porter and check in desk and dedicated access to immigration. Appreciate it!

Good to see SQs premium class service is still top notch 👍 Flew with them over summer in both business and economy, although I noticed significant drops in the quality of service they offer in economy now. I really hope I just got unlucky with the crew and catering, as the other business flight was great!
