- A mix of old pictures and new video from the cabin. A few minutes setting up the video and then a picture of The Wife at the cabin in the early days. I then show how I constructed the woodshed using just a chainsaw, post hole digger and a wheel barrow.
Dear Martin and Mrs Northwoodsman.
Your videos are inspiring and educational. I hope you realize what an encouragement you are to many who watch. Godspeed!
Martin you have definitely a very beautiful wife and I am extremely happy that you decided to feed the eagles as well thank you for sharing excellent video have yourself a good night
cgriggsiv at first I thought you meant he fed his wife to the eagles
Just happened to run across this. You’re a very fortunate man to have a wife that is interested in cabin life that you can share with. You remind me so much of myself. Martin, no one can ever say you are lazy. Best of luck to you in all your future endeavors. I hope your generating cabin wood smoke for many more years. 👍🙏
That is the plan but thankful for every trip I can get in up there.
Saw those angel wings over your shoulder back home. Gosh, your wife has a beautiful smile! You blessed man!
Thanks so much
Mr. Martin, the wood shed is just perfect for the setting.
Thanks
Thanks you Martin miss you see you soon
I really enjoyed that! Thanks for sharing the history and great to put a face to the cherry pie maker. You have a good wife as well as a good life there. Long may you both prosper.
Our pleasure!
I love your cabin. It's exactly what I envision a cabin should be.
What a beautiful “life” you have Mr. Martin; thanks for sharing!

And no wonder she decided to stay home in the warm house ,,,,,just love the pix of you and her Shame she gave it up but I do understand. Good to see you again Martin
Give your wife our hellos 👋🏼❤️
❤ poor Vonnie, she's a real Saint living with Martin the crazy character 😉 😅😂 🥂
Martin, you forgot to cut a half moon in the outhouse door! 🌙 Pretty Wife, but, is she still Smiling after all these years? Lol!💕
Oh Yes
Oh what a nice video, your wife is a beautiful lady. Amazed at how much wood you have in store, that represents a lot of labor, your a smart fellow! God bless you both😇😇😇
Get Momma back there again..she has an infectious smile..I would love to hear her perspective...thanks Martin...love your cabin.
Nice pictures of your hard work. Buck racks add to the rustic appeal. 👍
The eagle is a sacred bird for natives thank you for the respect
I was able to watch 7 at one time the other day. I have another road killed deer to take out there tomorrow and hope to capture the eagles majesty with the camera.
I love your channel. You are such a hard worker. So glad to see your sweet and pretty wife. Merry Christmas and enjoy your family time. 😊
Thanks
Great video Martin thanks have a great day be safe.
Yay the wife!!
Now that Martin has included you in a video I feel I can thank you for all your support and willingness for Martin to have and enjoy his cabin. Martin shares with us the joys and successes of an idyllic man cave as well as how to find deep satisfaction on his own, by himself in his environment of choice. Not only is he giving vicarious satisfaction to us guys who fantasize about such pleasures, but he instills inspiration for those of us who now live alone not by choice. He shows us how its done.
You may not realize how far your influence reaches or what a positive effect it has. This is to let you know. So, thank you sincerely and deeply for what you do for Martin, and by extension, for us Martin fans. And, keep doing those cherry pies. Martin clearly loves them.
Wow! Thanks so much, I'm blushing. Martin and I are a mutual admiration society. We compliment each others personalities, even where they rub. Little did we know how important that is when we first said "I do" almost 49 years ago. You know, way back when we knew everything! I am so glad that those alone 'not by choice' can see how to enjoy their own company. And the older we get, the more we realize how blessed we have been. BTW, I am toying with my own video instructing how to make the cherry pies!! Spoiler alert: you can use the same pastry to make meat pies as well. Keeping the home fires burning..........................literally!
Vonnie Do the cherry pie video! Pie is my favorite. Am always experimenting with the crust. It seems to turn out different every time. Either the recipe has too much butter or too much water, I’ve tried them all.
I have a cabin in the mountains too and my hubby is content to stay home and do things by himself. Some people have the “cabin gene” and others don’t.
I fixed my outhouse up with windows using flat cake plates. Very pretty, lets in lots of light and the design makes them opaque enough to give privacy. Augusta from Pacific Northwest
@@MarianRehersals OK Augusta. But my crust recipe has neither water or butter. Here it is: 2 c. flour, 1/2 oil, 1/2 c milk. I use a cup measurer for the fluid. Make the milk just shy of 1 c. You'll get the feel of it. Of course it could be the barometric pressure some days. You want it not to soft and not too hard.................but just right! It was my mom's recipe and I think she got it from an old Better Home & Garden cookbook. I see they call for 5 T milk. I will do that next time and see if it turns out perfect for rolling. And Augusta, I also roll out my pastry between two sheets of waxed paper...same as mom. Dampen the counter just a tad to make paper stick.
Very nice video. Thank You
Looks like you have a lot of rabbits at your home, and some nice racks up there on your wood shed to you find them or get them hunting. Got love sitting in the great outdoors when taking care of your daily duty, my outhouse on Drummond faces the lake can't remember the last time I shut the door when I was in there, except for company😁 thanks Martin
The deer racks are all from hunting. I like to eat tender venison so these old timers get ground up into burger.
@@TheNorthwoodsman1 got to love that version🦌
I like your tribute to American gothic.
Love luckily story
Love your videos no matter where you are.
Excellent as always, nice to see "The Boss" :-)
Hello Martin.
You are really spoiling us with these Saturday videos. Great stuff!
Some beautiful racks mounted. You really should think about a video talking about your hunting.
Have a great weekend and thanks for the video.
Regards
Mark
When I am hunting, I am hunting and would never get a big buck if messing with a camera.
TheNorthwoodsman1 I hear you, but you are such a good story teller. LOL
GREAT VIDEO. YOU HAVE A LOVELY WIFE GOD BLESS MR & MRS MARTIN
Love the end photo!!
I am sure that was the wife's idea to set that shot up that way.
It's a great shot!!
Another awesome video... Thanks for sharing!!👍👍
Martin, you have inspired me. I will be buying a cabin and currently have my eyes one one up in norther Maine. I really like your videos.. thank you.

Martin you have some nice trophies there.
Gday from Australia mate often wondered about your other better half thank you mate you answered my question.
Awesome! Neat to meet the miss's.
You sure do work hard Martin ,it was so nice to see a picture of you and your wife, especially when you had a darker shade of hair .Nice to see where you where then and how far you have come now. Thourly enjoyed sharing your memories and must admit a little more home sick to get back to my own cabin.
Great slides and stories! It sounds like you have always been an industrious fellow.
Mrs. Martin has the sweetest smile-what a lovely couple you are.
So sweet,Mrs.M so nice to see you.......we sure love all the trips ,to the cabin and all the stories ...and those treats you send ,makes my mouth water.
Nice to see your beautiful wife. You sure keep busy cutting all that firewood. You got some really nice antlers hanging at your house and the woodshed at the Cabin. That’s some awesome footage of the eagles. Thanks for sharing your memories. Keep on keeping on and Best of luck always and thanks for sharing your videos.
That, Sir was awesome. Thank you
The thumbnail reminds me of Petticoat Junction that's a good one
One of Mart's twin sisters calls us "Maw" and "Paw". We take it is a compliment The wife
Great video looks like you stay pretty busy cutting firewood there nothing like a good warm fire
Certainly no moss ever grows on you Martin...As always thanks for sharing! 👍
Very nice walk through time thanks.
Wow.......that is wonderful....I love it!!!!
Glad you like it! We are planning on getting a propane furnace installed before next winter. Nothing but wood heat since 1978.
@@TheNorthwoodsman1 I had to get rid of our wood stove years ago because of my lungs, but we had wood for many years and as of now we are having a propane furnace put in right as we speak. Our fuel oil one went bad. Been married for 56 years this coming March!!!!
Quite a project on your own, how did you get the large logs up on the frame for the roof?
It's so good to hear from you away from the cabin, it seems an age in between visits with no videos.
Saturday downloads are great Martin thanks for the thought in posting on the weekend.
Nice photo of you and your wife, she sure looks a wonderful kind person.
Your a lucky guy, but you already know that.
Great video Marin, many thanks.
As I recall getting those Tamarack Timbers up there was very challenging. If they were cedar it would have been simple but that tamarack is three times the weight. I recall getting one end up in the air and then securing it to the top of the piling in the ground with a strap. Then walking the other end up the ladder.
Great video Martin. Have an amazing weekend, Andreas 🇸🇪
Hi Andreas. Greetings from Minnesota. I look forward to your next posting.
@@SSPJG3 Then you won't have to wait so long. It will be out in 3 minutes from now. Have an amazing Sunday!
Mrs Martin looks as nice as Mr Martin. ❤
Nice racks of whitetail antlers there in Minn. as well. Thanks to you and your wife for sharing good home making.
Waving....HI VONNIE!!! ❤
Got a propane light in the outhouse at my camp. Love it! Gotta say you might could pass as a Yooper. Great videos.
I only speak two languages: Minnesotan and English so would have a hard time with one more.
I love all your videos, Martin. I've just purchased a piece of land and hoping to throw up a small cabin on it within the next year. These videos are always inspiring and enjoyable. Thanks for your time in putting these together. As a filmmaker, I know just how much times goes into even so-called simple productions!
You can do it! I really enjoy putting these together.
Well, well, well! Good day to you Mr. Martin, and Mrs. Martin! Here in Washington State it's legal to pick up road kill along the roads, take it home for consumption, but I don't think I wanna try it! (ew) I like your idea much better! You really made me laugh when you told the "FIRE IN THE HOLE" bit! LOLOL OH MY! I had to rewind it about 4 times to get the full effect of it! HAHAHA!
Well, yaay for Mrs. Martin for using the more rustic outhouse! (Is that lady-like of me to commend her for that??LOL) Forgive me Mrs. Martin! Aww, she looks so cute standing there in front of the cabin! "Hi Mrs. Martin" :) Such a cute couple you two are.
I like your firewood set up, and such a lot of man power you have put into it. God has surely blessed you Sir! He's not only blessed you with these things, but with a beautiful wife. Happy belated Valentine's Day to you both.
Thank you so much for sharing her, your finest gem of them all, and better half, mind you! LOL
Blessings and love to you,
Washington State USA
So glad you enjoyed it, Heidi. Mart has been trying to find a spot to work in the pics. Speaking of Valentine's Day, I am getting my own, brand new upright freezer. Yes, we are so weird. The best gift Mart can give me is a unique rock to put in the garden, and I don't mean diamonds!!!! Blessings to you, too, Heidi!
Love seeing the old picture's. May you have a blessed day.
Thanks, tell wife we all say hello.
Same to your, Roy. Glad you enjoyed it!
Loved it Martain
Another Saturday morning treat...Thank you Martin!
Where there is a will, there is a way. You figured it out and got it done. A lot of hard work.
Thanks for sharing... you did a great job over the years!
Beautiful wife Martin, I understand she is camera shy now but would like to see more pictures of her at the cabin every now and then. I love seeing the old pictures, they take me back to what I call reality:) The woodshed was quite the project, well done! Building like that is relaxing and rewarding, I hope to build a shed of some sort now that I'm about to retire. Won't be as fancy but it will keep things dry. Blessings!
You are a good man martin
Great video thanks for sharing
The photo of your beautiful wife and you is great but for some reason the theme from Green Acres popped in my head. I love it and the beautiful work you have done over the years.
I gotta say...for an outhouse, the newest one looks downright luxurious.
Great stuff 👍👍👍😃
You've put a lot of years effort into that place! I often think of my Shack and the many different folks who have been on that land on the past. I hope to pass on my interest in enjoying and preserving the natural surroundings to future visitors and owners.
just found your channel.....I love it
Glad to have you along.
thanks for your response....its funny but your peacefulness reminds me of On Golden Pond
Love the takeoff on American Gothic! Vonnie looks like I imagined her, pretty much. You are one fortunate fella, Martin! BTW, my wife agrees on Vonnie not wanting to use that barebones thunder box! That is one sturdy woodshed! Now make one for the home place!
I love your videos sir !! Awesome place and thanks for sharing !!! Behind every good man is a great women......
Nice video and love to hear your narrations too Martin. Always interesting!
What an amazing job you have done on your cabin and such a special place...thanks for sharing! Great pictures, your wife is a lovely lady.
That is a great history of the cabin. You've done a great job with it. Great video.
Thank you Martin
Love the pictures and tour. You have a lovely wife and she is a good sport, I think. Peace and Good Fortune to you and your family.

Has been a privilege to get to know you some, here Martin...
I look forward to your videos
God bless you and yours.
Always a pleasure to see your vids sir! Can’t wait for the next one! Thanks Dan from Jersey
Great video
Top of the world man!
I am jealous of your Illinois wood pile. Are those rabbit tracks I see running around the wood pile? It is neat to see the old the pictures and development of the cabin over the years. Thanks for sharing.
Cottontail rabbits vary in number around our yard. This is a good year and they like to come to the bird feeders after dark to glean the cracked corn that was too big for the birds.
Your home is as awesome as the cabin. You are a blessed man!
I always enjoy your videos, they are down to earth and comfortable
My wife will still come but for a max of two weeks! Have lots of Tamarack trees dying in Oregon at my cabin!
Such a good tree, what a shame.
Great video! Thank you
HAVING COFFEE WATCHING WORK VIDEO'S GOOD MMMM'SSS MARTIN!!
Thanks for sharing.
your a lucky man Martin!
Thank You Martin, always nice to watch your videos....
love the old pictures. Thank you very much for posting them. My cabin pictures are in the same way took hundreds and hundreds of photos before RUclips. :)
