I immediately recognised the mistakes. Also, Edinburgh was misspelled. Burgh is borough in England. I thought Worcester pronounces Wu ster instead of Wor ster
Thank you Faye and Stevo hv provided loads of info, entertainment and laughter. I enjoyed each episode so far. U hv given me minutes of joy vs my depression while caring my alzheimers husband. Keep up with your good work and look forward to more of your laughter. 🙏
Thx Stevo & Faye for this very useful blog. Please do this kind of clog more often as we love to learn Stevo’s native Brit accent to fine tune our common pronunciation mistakes.
Tiny corrections 😜 - 6:10 ‘Worcester’ pronounced as ‘Wu.stuh’ - 10:47 Farnborough is in Hampshire county not Berkshire - 17:36 spelt as ‘Marylebone’ - 15:53 ‘Ruislip’ pronounced as ‘Rai.slip’
Good sharing from both of you. Informative and educative. Pronounciation has a lot cultural facotrs and conventions. No generalisation or induction. Just follow the culture and habbit.
Good episode. My husband would say the same thing for Dumb Fries 🍟🤣. Dumfries & Galloway always go together. As for Marylebone, there’s a contention. If you ask 10 Londoners they all say it different. Fun to watch you both as always🥰
Cantonese is a syllabic language where all the syllables carry equal weight, whereas English is a rhythmic language with stressed and unstressed vowels. Throw in long and short vowels plus regional peculiar ways of saying names, and you will end up something unrecognisable. I speak from experience.
Thank so much for your sharing. However I've just realized Isle of Man is actually in between England and Ireland, and Isle of Wright is in the South of England.
About the word Borough as in Borough Market, do Londoners call it " Bara" Market? Same with the place name of "Falmouth". Can anyone tell me the "proper" way of saying it? Fall-meth? Foul-meth? Thanks. Very interesting.
Worcester has a silent 'r' and an extended 'o' sound, just like wooster. Yorkshire also has a stronger 'r' than 'k', just like how one say New York instead of New Yulk.
Interesting.. I'm Canadian so I was equally as confused with a lot of the British place names.. but my friends have always pronounced it "wuster" rather than "wooster" (a shorter vowel sound like in 'cut') but I think that's because a lot of my friends are from Manchester or Bristol and their accent might be a bit different to Stevo's. One that really frustrated me recently was "Southwark".. I found out it sounds similar to "Suffolk" (it's more like 'suthic' though) and now I have to listen closely every time. That and Altrincham.. (I thought it was 'altrin-cham' but it's said more like "altrin'm" lol..)
Ruislip is actually Ri-slip and Derby is actually Da-rby!!!
I immediately recognised the mistakes. Also, Edinburgh was misspelled. Burgh is borough in England. I thought Worcester pronounces Wu ster instead of Wor ster
@@fongming1642 I think it should Wu-r-ster, Wo-r-ster
@@AngelAngel-mf2uv according to Google phonetics, it is Wu . Stuh , there is no r
Besides, it is Lea &Perrins Worcestershire Sauce, not Worcester Sauce.

Thank you!
我以前以為ending with "che"讀che.

Funny and useful sharing
MOTD Match of the Day 仍在

Stevo always does a good job. Faye, your voice is somehow far too sharp and noisy. That affects the overall enjoyment and succuss in this episode.
thx!

Very interesting. Very useful, thank you. British accent sound so good
Thank you very much. The video is so practical and useful to me. That what I want to know.🙏🏼
