Gavi played really well next to lewandowski, he had great touches and dribbling , not to mention he scored and provided two asssist with his left foot against Madrid and courtouis
Gavi in general is an amazing LW as well.
@@partapshergill6476 gavi is him

Respect for Xavi knowing it won't be easy at Barca but still stepped in as a manager
He came to barca at the worst moment when they where 9th in la liga and getting tossed around by bayern and even benfica in champions league, he even took a wage cut and payed out of his pockets to come to barca, a true Barcelona legend
The amazing thing about pedri is his maturity,
Whenever he has the ball, his next move always seems to be the best one. Yes sometimes he might not be able to execute it and he may lose the ball but the decisions always seem to be right.
You don't generally find that in young players, let alone young midfielders. And this is not just about this game, he has been like this since the start of the season.
Also probably our most consistent player this season, regardless of the circumstances, whether its against Madrid or Cadiz or Germany, he has been brilliant against everyone. Unbelievable that this boy is just 20. Bloody hell he's younger then me ffs🤦🏿♂️😂
He has unreal potential. Scary actually. No central midfielder ever in the history of the game played with this much composure and maturity at his age, none that I can think of at least. Neither xavi or iniesta were on his level at 20 yrs old. Won’t be surprised if he ends up on par with the greatest midfielders oat, or even the best ever by the time he hangs up his boots
@@skoppe_8094 yea he just needs the silverware
He's basically a 20 year old who plays with the demeanour of a veteran.
@@skoppe_8094 iniesta and fabregas were world class at pedris age
@@siddharthsingh7378even xavi and iniesta said that pedri was further developed than they were at 20 lol
best game under xavi imo , this lineup created a system where every player was used for every play , the second goal to lewa was so good and it demonstrated what xavi wanted to do and how he wanted to score
4-0 >
@@BeakaD This is better because of the fact that Benzema played
@@afallenworld1581 and because it mattered, 4/0 ended being kinda irrelevant, madrid won the league comfortably, and we failed to build on the momentum we had and lost in the Europa league, but this one gave us a trophy.
@@yes-wh1zj 4-0 matterd too. Remember we were not solid in 2nd place even in the top 4 we couldve gone out if we lost that game and morale went down. EVERY GAME IS IMPORTANT!
No unnecessary crosses, i enjoyed this game so much 🔥🙌
I didn't realize that until you pointed it out. Factos 🤯
very true, I don't even remember seeing a single cross
I believe this formation reduced the amount of time Dembele had the ball. Especially at that wing. It's more efficient and I believe it uses his pace and positioning well. Plus, he has more time to drift inside and try and get a goal.
@@kelvinoseni3343 we attacked through the middle mostly.
busi could play more comfortably cus there is de jong there, busi focus more on regaining possession and making the defense in mid tidy while de jong focuses on breaking the line and attacking. Gavi and Pedri looks like they having fun toying with Madrid defense cus they have de jong and busi at their back. If they keep improving they could pass the ball more fluid and faster
From the next season, Nico will be there instead of Busquets
@@vivekkumarchaudhary9897 Nico is not coming bk.xavi don't want him
@@georgechima1614 you are talking shit. Xavi didn't want Nico to leave, he wanted more playing time and now he's injured for the rest of the season and most of the year maybe.
Precisely!
@@Kriscur20 u only make noise online .u neither read papers or listen to news .can't argue with you
You know what makes this win feels so good its because the team on the big hurdle always lets us down and now at the biggest game of the new year they won comfortably
It's one of the best team game we played. All the goals were team goals and 2 of em came from counter attacks, a rare style of attack for us tbh. The defense was tight and Madrid couldn't do much.
The youngsters (Gavi, Pedri, Balde, Araujo) played like veterans. And the veterans played with hunger. Something we haven't seen in a long time with this team.
MATS was also crucial to the defense. He did his very best to keep it a clean sheet but Benzema got one at the very end. We also severely lessen playing back passes to him which has been a problem for us. It's too risky against the best of Europe and Madrid is easily one of those.
Hopefully this will be the first of many many titles to come. Because we definitely have talent and we need to be back in where we belong. The creme de la creme of European football.
Amen, brother
Definitely not rare to score counter goals. Barca always presses high, there will be chances if you win the ball up high
Anyone who follows this channel would never say "Xavi out"💯💯
Thank you for the analysis again. Thank you for articulating what Xavi changed for the pressing system. I am so glad Xavi has a variety in the pressing, where before the agggressive man marking was so hard to watch against good press resistant team.
I hope many great things are coming the remainder of the season! Visca barca!
This bunch shift art press part mid block is essential for us because whenever we use man marking our players lose steam at 60 mins or good team evade them from minn1 but this nuanced press enables barca to press in bunch with less energy thaan man marking
This is such a good video. I knew the pressing was different in this game but just couldn't figure out how. Thanks a lot.
Another well done video! 👏🏾 indeed a vindicating result & performance for the new era.. well done Xavi, n well done barca!
If we continue with the heavy usage of 4 midfielders, we will need better contribution from Kessie, Pablo Torre, or even Roberto for substitutions and not feeling like a huge dip in quality. Right now, I'm still not sold on Kessie yet, Torre had a promising display in the Copa del Rey, and I really don't trust Roberto at all.
We won't use 4 midfielders every game but we will definitely use it for the big games. Different games require different formations. We will use the 4-3-3 in games we don't use the 3-2-2-3/4-2-3-1
I trust Sergi Roberto in the midfield more than @ RB
Sergi Roberto is actually a good midfielder. He is usually slandered for his RB play.
Man....Great Analysis. You are reading the game well, keep up the good work
I was waiting for your video since yesterday!! Here it is. 👍👍
This was a masterclass from Xavi and the team as we saw a lot of things we want to see as Barcelona fans but even though I still believe that Xavi likes being pragmatic, driving with a handbrake.
Busquets is the handbrake in this system.
I feel like this can work even better with Having a three of De jong,Gavi and Pedri, as we saw that they can control the game as they did against Betis and then for that Gavi role you put Fati, we will be unstoppable.I wish Xavi can just let this team shine and stop being pragmatic
Fati can't play that role because in possession fati will need to operate in midfield and when in attack he will need to be the winger also at the same time he will be responsible to press all over the field like gavi. This role only works with gavi
Was waiting for your analysis and you didn’t miss. Thanks for the excellent work and the time marks.
This the best analysis on all the internet and im
Not exagerating.thank’s purist for these quality videos.
Busquets + de Jong double pivot was just too powerful and controlling. Great analysis as always!
De jong was outstanding his exit with the ball is so necessary for barca
My favorite Barca review channel
I been waiting for this 🔥
Thank you for your analysis! Great job 👏🏼
Just found your channel out and love the Barça videos and how many there are!
Great stuff once again to identify then highlight the subtle tactical adjustments and tweaks made by Xavi.
I know not all teams are Madrid that play us in a mid-block with the ability to keep possession while aiming to spring forward.... that said. I loved that we went forward very often and didn't keep possession just for keeping it... very often I feel we're too conservative with possession/our passing and with most teams setting up to not just block zone 14 but the full width of the pitch is a back 5 often with a 4 ahead... which see our possession become sterile, with very little penetration.
The system deployed against Madrid allowed Gavi and Pedri to be free roaming protagonist high up within certain zones with Balde and Dembele providing width and Lewandowski as a central reference.
I hope we take some key lessons from this victory especially with regards to cup matches.
In yesterday game busquets showed his qualities yeah he's not the same but his passing he still got it his intelligence it will be difficult to replace him .Can you talk about that who will be the ideal replacement of busquets that playstyle who got that ?
broz is coming busi is unique player goat pivot but his time is up he is 35
@@stefangacev6414 yeah that's why he is leaving after this season and we want a player with same profile ..no one would be like him but let's see..
He had a good game but they were missing Tchouameni so they had to change their game i hope this game doesn't stop us from getting Brozo we definetly need another DM
@@brandontirado5869 i haven't watch much of zubimendi .so i think enzo will be good he know lapausa and we can use him in 3 4 3 formation frenkie enzo but let's see

very informative video i liked it very much
Look forward to this video!
When you discuss the midfield in your upcoming video maybe you could discuss potential replacements for Busquets? I know e.g. Zubimendi is being considered as an replacement but what about maybe Nico González who is currently out on loan in Valencia? Although not on the same level as Gavi and Pedri (yet), he seemed like a potential la masía prospect who could establish himself as squad player or even a regular. I could see him being paired with de Jong like now in the new found midfield shape.
We already have De Jong for that role
He can take over from Busquets
@@Jeanevans23 De Jong lacks the defensive awareness of Busquets, he played well this game because he was alongside Busquets
@@quicksilver3687 When you say lacks, it sounds like it's not a skill that can be developed
Busquets developed that skill too, he wasn't born with it
wow I cant believe you almost have 50k subs. Ive been wathhing u grow since before u had 1k subs
Been waiting all day I already know this will be a good watch
Please do a video on zubimendi I heard xavi wants him as a busquet replacement
And let's not forget to acknowledge the brilliance of MAtS in goal, the deployment of the back row was such that when Madrid did manage to get a look it was relatively uncontested and he was needed to make several important saves. I don't think they could play the defensive formation they did without a great keeper.
Do a video on a possible Busi replacement
The only possible worry I have with this midfield - especially with Busi - is that they weren't pressured that much. When Atleti put up the pressure after the goal Barce struggled.
Purist football. You’re genius. Always learning from your vidz - thanks
Forcà Barca
I just wanted to say is make your audio a little bit louder please, love the video !
Nice video 👍👍
wonderful stuff... Oh how I wish you'd make a similar video about Manchester City... I love your work man... wow...👏👏
i feel they played a well structure 3-2-3-2 system which helped gavi to stick well with lewa and also give dembele a few more chances driving from the midfield by line, a similar tactic to what we used against atletico Madrid few matches ago
fluid pressing football + W = FC Barcelona 🔵🔴
i just hope Barca can sort out their debt , revive the academy and B-team , then keep the positive cycle going.
academy product > barca b to gain experience > barca main team / some goes to other clubs on loan or with buyback clause > sell some for huge profits > invest back into the club and academy.
Explain Roberto De Zerbi's masterclass against Liverpool. Brighton under Zerbi looks amazing and complete. Please do explain the tactics behind it.
Good analysis. I follow you in both of my accounts.
I am a Barca fan I really love how Barcelona dominate this game well defensively. 🥇⚽🏆💪💯
Finally!!!!!!
In Spanish we say, “Todos atacan, todos defienden.” Everybody attacks, everybody defends.
VISCA EL BARÇA!!! ❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙❤️
it gives a real good feeling when barca play with 4 middlefielders...
more creativity
numerical advantage
better pressing
fluidity
i guess this formation is the best barca setup for big games
Now, I hope we find and keep the consistency. I hope Xavi stops doing experiments and errors
four mids look solid for us
let's go for the league
and thank you for the analysis
brilliant
Bro if you don't mind asking me but where do you get these clips? Very informative.
Visça Barça!!!
I feel like we need a double pivot to flood the midfield and two attacking forwards .
It could be Lewy and Dembou Or Lewy and Ansu Or Ferran Or Raphina for Rotation.
But our flooding our midfield is really important for our play because we are still stable with that back three
Great analysis. I see this setup as being similar to the one employed against Atleti with the main differences in lineup being that Balde and Dembele were generally lower on the pitch in the build up, Kounde and Araujo swapping positions and Pedri and Gavi being deployed on opposite sides. I'd say it was a 3-4-2-1/3-2-4-1. Kounde being the most central with Araujo being more of a RB/RCB to deal with the threat of Vinicius was great decision making from Xavi. Offensively Kounde is better than Araujo, but Araujo is a better defensive option as a fullback. Hypothetical situation, Xavi sees it fit to employ this tactic more often, who (from our bench) do you think would be suited for the positions for the sake of rotation and what tweaks would you make for this tactic to still function effectively. @The Purist Football
Also, how do you think our other forwards would function in this tactic and what are your thoughts on them playing in the position (not necessarily role) of Gavi and Pedri (behind Lewandowski).
Everyone talking about Gavi but actually the goalkeeper was good too
Hey man we need a analysis for ManU vs Barca !! Who do you think is tactically superior??
Araujo is Barcelona"s VVD
Gavi best games since he's in the first team have been playing as a false left winger with a LB pushing high
One man had real madrid scared in that match and that was robert lewandowski, they kept 2 men close to him at all times but tou csnt stop the best striker in the world.😀😀
Dear Laporta....please secure the signature of Argentina's Enzo Fernandez before the end of the season. He's the perfect long-term replacement of Sergio Busquets.
Agree with you 💯 but Xavi (still hanging on Busi ) has to see this and ask for Enzo as a replacement, I don’t mind also Ruben Neves.
We broke bro
The mid is so good because the profiles are as complimentary as it can get
Pleas make more videos i love your videos
I think xavi took some tips from watching argentina play in the World Cup especially the last two games where they set up with the 4 in midfield also
Gavi as false LW is the way, we just need CM's that can score better (Bernardo Silva), a refresh for Busquets (Brozovic?) and a new RB.
Lewandowski Goat 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
Was there specific reason why they pressed Real Madrids left and settled on not-pressing right? Was it due to Mendy and Vini or something else?
Maybe the idea was to keep Madrids left, which is way dangerous with Vini under pressure and allow them rather build from right that was deemed easier to defend againt?
Or was it just coincidence (looks like it was premeditated by Xavi)?
I think it was due to madrid's right side being weak, kinda like argentina, who used france's right side to exploit them, and it paid off.
Curious about your thoughts on Kessie.
Playing this way comes down to 1 crucial element, Frenkie always being available for the pass whether it's in the CB mid or final 3rd area... He was forced into learning this by Xavi playing him in the CB position in a few games at the start of the season. Frenkie has also learned to pausa with great effect. LA pausa is strong with all our starting mids. Hell, even Christensen has learned the skill
You should open up a Patreon opportunity. You’re one of the few that would be worth sponsoring in my opinion.
i always imagined that de jong played on double pivot on barcelona, because of that his trait would be unlocked, but its painful to watch busi beside frenkie because he is more fitting on single pivot i think barca need another dm in that position which is kante if possible
💯💯💯
Now i understand why Zubimendi is considered as the best replacement for Busquets
I really enjoyed the game and the tactics, having dembele as a plus not as the main man to do the damage, because dembele can be very wasteful atimes.
frenkie had such a underrated performance
I was asking for that 4-2-3-1 for a while but ofc not with those players. I wanted Pedri to play like a 10.
We dominated that game from A-Z
Gabi & Lewandowski were amaizing.
They will be a winning duet.
Pedri is such talent too.
Kudos for all pleyers - no one was weak point here.
FDJ was very good but the way Barca fans go on, you'd swear he plays like this every week, so I find it hard to take a lot of people seriously when they praise him. The standards for him had/have dropped a tonne. But his month before the world cup & this are the player he should be consistently, and as stated the role suits him to a tee.
(his defensive game vs Atleti stunk so bad man)
is brozovic a good replacement for busi?
Yes but he's like 31.. we're building a young team for the next decade so the most ideal replacement would be either Zubimendi or Enzo Fernandez, they have very similar profiles.
@@thezoexperience2 frenkie literally just there man
Can someone explain to me the switch of kounde and araujo?
I love that we drastically improved our movement right after that clip of Xavi cussing them out for their lack of movement leaked 😂
We have found gavi's best position
The second half was ideal for barca only if wecould be consistent
And what do you guys think about Nico replacing Busi in this formation?
What's your view on Alejandro Balde? Do you still think he can be elite?
Now I really want to see them play Man United.
Gavi is right footed or lef?
Right footed
Great staff
BRO WAS THIS NOT A GEGEN PRESSING
I'd call it more of a selective pressing. Gegenpressing revolves around getting back the ball as soon as possession is lost, while Xavi's team chose their moments to force Madrid's midfield to submission.
starting ferran torres wastes chances. barca had a great x1 this time
Look at him blueballing us about another videos. Making us wait and sh*t
Somebody who knows, didn’t xavi enter last season half way? Why are people so critical to him for not winning a trophy lmfao?
I’d love to see Pedri in the Premier League; he’d be pretty similar to De bruyne imo..
That won’t happen he’s a Culé and he’s here to stay
Or madrid did not play with a ball winning mid.SIMPLE
our worst game iv seen in a while. those second and third goals should a have no been that easy courtois postioning was terrible
Barca were emphatic. And you expect a goalie to save it all? 😂
If not for his saves, madrid would have lost by atleast 5-0.
