I mean, its not like most of the people are deep into research and can challenge anything being said.
Most people just parrot w/e meme they saw on Instagram and that is the extend of their education on the topic.
Lack of understanding of the topic will show the moment you ask 1-2 questions and then everything falls apart.
I dont blame them tho, its allot of stuff to read.
I would just prefer that they said "i cant comment, i just dont have any strong position on the topic" and this is where it should end.
Just wait for lighter topic that you know something about - that it.

Either way its a life altering decision.
You also missed the point entirely... You have people like Pearl sat there going "Women shouldn't have rights, Women shouldn't be allowed to divorce, Women should marry someone at the age 18 and settle down with a family because that's what people did back in the day" - whilst she herself is 27, has never been married, is career driven, is attention orientated with her whole life on social media and has never been in a long term relationship... its just hilarious that people like that will actively tell women to do something they themselves never did but will also say they aren't educated enough to make those decisions at that age.

I think the fear is that the confusion just comes from the natural confusion that a lot of kids go through, especially in a time in which transgenderism or gender fluidity is a fad. Not even Destiny would deny that it's a fad. Then the confusion might get reaffirmed by a doctor who has the power of authority behind them, but may end up being ideologically suspect. We know the health industry is biased towards overprescribing medication, even for something like ADHD, because they want to not only expand the field but also profit off of it. Less ADHD diagnoses means less reason to see the doctor and less ADHD medication being prescribed.

as well as you are ignoring the aspect that children are very easily influenced or pressured, especially young girls, so no a 13 year old girl should not be able to cut her boobs off
This is literally the same logic as lowering the age of consent to 12 and 13, "well who cares, children make life changing decisions all the time", i mean if you think a 13 year old girl has the maturity to contemplate and make a decision on something as damaging and life altering as cutting off their own body parts, then yeah why not lower the age of consent to 13 too then if children are so big brained and mature LOL

Any man or woman that transition under the age of 18 that either have a minor form of gender dysphoria or possibly have no gender dysphoria at all could possibly regret doing that with the effects of reversing the process would be highly difficult to almost impossible to depending on the age of transitioning and circumstance. Gender dysphoria (GD) is the distress a person feels due to a mismatch between their gender identity-their personal sense of their own gender-and their sex assigned at birth. The diagnostic label gender identity disorder (GID) was used until 2013 with the release of the diagnostic manual DSM-5. The condition was renamed to remove the STIGMA (lmao) associated with the term disorder.
    Lmao
Body integrity dysphoria (BID, also referred to as body integrity identity disorder, amputee identity disorder and xenomelia, formerly called apotemnophilia) is a mental disorder characterized by a desire to have a sensory or physical disability or having discomfort with being able-bodied beginning in early adolescence and resulting in harmful consequences. BID appears to be related to somatoparaphrenia. People with this condition may refer to themselves as "transabled".

"With the exception of five states (Alabama, Arkansas, Idaho, New Hampshire, and West Virginia), all states and DC allow underage consumption of alcohol under limited circumstances such as in the presence of parents, for religious or medical purposes, or while in a class that requires tasting." So, you're already wrong.
Besides, are we not talking about hormone therapy? I know Destiny is not for minors have gender affirming surgery.
What about circumcision? My parents decided for me, that THEY wanted to cut my foreskin off. At least with gender stuff it is the minor making the informed choice once the doctor and parent are satisfied that the minor would be a good candidate for treatment (hormone therapy/blockers), and that it's not just some impulsive desire influenced by something else going on in their life that could be improved before making that commitment. Also, are we not just talking about hormone therapies and blockers? I don't think we're talking about full blown sex-change surgery for the minor, right? Because, hormone blockers can have a really good chance at giving the kid relief for the time being, can largely be reversed (I believe), and it helps to ensure the later more drastic procedure (if desired) will grant a higher satisfaction for a male to female surgery because you can avoid the puberty growth that can be hard to disguise once they are 18.
I don't think surgeries should be permitted, but what I have read about hormones therapies, I don't think the government should be getting involved. All the "horror" stories I've seen, seem very overblown, numbers magnified, context altered, or maliciously made-up.
I don't know why you think "cutting off a pinky" is a good counter-argument. That's just a bit silly. Would there be any reasonable argument that cutting off a pinky would help one's emotional well-being? Let's be honest, a minor could just decide that on their own anyway, bucket of ice, tin snips, and throw that pinky where nobody will find it, lol. Besides, you're allowed to have a nose-job as a minor, and other plastic surgery (not breast implants though). I remember my friend had ears that stuck out really far, he was miserable about the teasing and not getting the desired attention from girls, but he had surgery for that at like 15 years-old, and he was SO much happier, he was a new kid.
If parents can have their little boy's foreskin cutoff (don't certain Jewish faiths have a rabbi literately suck the blood off a penis after removing foreskin? That needs to stop!), then I'm perfectly fine with giving minors the avenue (hormone therapy) that could ensure they have the chance to live their best lives, as long as it's done super responsibly with plenty of due process to make sure they're making the best decision for their mental health.

A woman is an adult female human. Prior to adulthood, a female human is referred to as a girl (a female child or adolescent). Denoting the sex that can bear offspring or produce eggs, distinguished biologically by the production of gametes (ova) which can be fertilized by male gametes. Women inherit a pair of X chromosomes from their parents, and are capable of pregnancy and giving birth from puberty until menopause. More generally, sex differentiation of the female fetus is governed by the lack of a present, or functioning, SRY-gene on either one of the respective sex chromosomes. Female anatomy is distinguished from male anatomy by the female reproductive system, which includes the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, vagina, and vulva. The adult female pelvis is wider, the hips broader, and the breasts larger than that of adult males. Women have significantly less facial and other body hair, have a higher body fat composition, and are on average shorter and less muscular than men.
A man is an adult male human.
Prior to adulthood, a male human is referred to as a boy (a male child or adolescent).
Like most other male mammals, a man's genome inherits an X chromosome from the mother and a Y chromosome from the father. Sex differentiation of the male fetus is governed by the SRY gene on the Y chromosome.
The male reproductive system contains the external genitals (the penis, testes and the scrotum) and internal parts, including the prostate gland, vas deferens and urethra.
During puberty, hormones which stimulate androgen production result in the development of secondary sexual characteristics, thus exhibiting greater differences between the sexes. These include greater muscle mass, height, the growth of facial hair and a lower body fat composition.

I think if a child is having ideas of being trans they shouldn't allow them to medically do anything to their body before turning 18. Puberty does all kinds of things to kids and makes them think all kinds of weird shit. Allowing children to make decisions that could affect the rest of their life and bar them from having children is actually insane. 0 cosmetic surgeries before 18 sounds 100% reasonable to me. To be fair though, the government intervenes all the time when it comes to the parent-child relationship. Even in the medication example he used the govt manages that through doctors (you need a prescription, dosage is regulated by medical bodies). I think the steel-man argument of conservatives being concerned with the well-being of minors is a fair one and if you pushed most reasonable liberals (especially parents) that would be able to understand where they're coming from whilst still disagreeing on the premise (the extent to which transitioning/hormone therapy does cause harm).

Because the issue is that the law is meant to protect the child not the childs parents interests. It's like saying someone who whips their child shouldn't be punished by anti physical violence laws... that's not the doctors or the parents problem, it's the problem of law and society...
People want laws that protect children from the influence of parents who they themselves are influenced and go to doctors who are afraid of a loud community and political movement that may get their careers ended if they say the wrong thing.

    • @nameisbad
      @nameisbad 9 месяцев назад

@@raneenah3240 Going by a growing sentiment of trans regret, a lack of understanding still on subject of transitioning from science/medicine. The difficulty of differentiating legitimate and momentary body disphoria, the damage done from over zealous parents that get carried away in the movement, the problem with doctors being bias to one side or the other of the fence which can cause trouble for the kid in multiple ways, the permanent damage that's possibly done, the issue with the psychology of having walked a path then regretting it but double downing due to the massive investment into say walk.
It's just not a good idea for parents or doctors to have a say on this, law should protect a child until they are old enough to protect themselves from the decisions they will or will not make.
And with plenty of video footage of kids not wanting to transition but some parents forcing it, the documentation on some doctors who are overly eager or pushing an agenda of their own...
It paints an imagine of who, what and why kids need protection via law, you can find a thousand rationalizations for most things, but in the end of the day the issues need solving and laws will do that even if it tramples on some peoples feelings or ideals.
No one is stopping a person from transitioning when they become 18.
When I was 12 I thought I was going to be a goth my whole life, luckily no permanent surgeries were available at the time.
Also a fair warning, but there is a lot of profit to be made out of transitioning, which is another reason doctors aren't the one's to go to for the final say.
Hell, most will just find a doctor that alligns with what they want.
And remember the origin story of modern transitioning, it involved SA from the doctor on two kids....
Plenty of stuff to make you want protection from LAW for your kids, even if that means protecting them from yourselves/ourselves/our doctors etc

Can you provide evidence of this? I looked up claims of this a while ago, and found that they were debunked and malicious claims in nature. But, if you have something confirmed, I'd like to see it. Plus the information that I've seen of people having regrets, is extremely low single digit percents.

Here's one example of the issue:
search on youtube: Parents Say Their 4-Year-Old CHILD Is TRANSGENDER
      by
The Comments Section with Brett Cooper
Other interesting things that showcase that even 18 year olds are making mistakes about this:
Detransitioning: She Regrets Transitioning From Female to Male
      by
      Dr. Phil
I'm looking for more and finding it but like I'm going to stop, the dark reality of parents exploiting their children for views on youtube is actually mind blowingly painful.
There is issues on both sides, trans regret is not being addressed much by either side leaving individuals feeling lost at sea and alone. This isn't about compassion anymore and that hurts my heart.
If you want to take what I've said as insufficient then you can, if I haven't given enough evidence tho we both know there's more out there for that one singular point then you can ignore that point.
But the fact you only called out one point really does showcase that on the whole, these issues really do exist.
We... unbearably live in a world today where we actually DO need laws to protect children from their parents more so than ever, the media obsessed generations are attention seeking at any cost, whether for attention or for money, but it's unarguable there are people out there that will use their children to make a quick buck or to feel relevant/important.

The evidence seems to indicate beneficial outcomes for certain gender modification therapies. Thus, the conversation should be determined by a doctor that knows your specific situation.
Similarly, if some medication that treats cancer has been shown to have good outcomes, even if it may have side effects, the use of that treatment should be determined on a case by case basis in a conversation with a patient's doctor.
There are, for example, rare cases where kids can get depressed, and a medication like Lexapro may be used to treat that depression. Such medications have many criticisms and side effects, but such a use will always depend on your specific circumstances -- thus, its use should garnered with a good conversation with your doctor.
