I really enjoy your reviews as informative and educational as they are and I have learned a lot especially with the 2024 as I picked up a 24 Denali 3500 long box dually in mid August and I love it. The question I have is why would one tow a large, heavy trailer at 80 mph fuel economy be damned! With that being said, I really love the reviews as they are so informative……… Thank You
Nice review! Currently tow a 12,000 lbs with wheel with a 2016 Ram 2500 Cummins and shopping for a new truck - your info helped. By the way, we had a 42' Salem Hemisphere lower end bunk house that was 15,000 lbs and swapped it for a 2024 Starcraft 304bhs - a 12,000 lbs loaded 5th wheel with an incredible layout featuring an office that converts to a bunkhouse and is a widebody with solar and auto level and sooo much more - cost 65k out the door with a tankless water heater installed - might be worth a look, such a better RV than our last one and tows like a dream.
I don't miss DEF but I never thought it was an issue. That's pretty good mileage for the area you are towing. Between your shorts video and this one we are dying for summer to get here for our Utah NP tour! And I am NOT buying another 3/4 ton! Maybe, lol!
I don’t care so much about the expense but it is messy to deal with. If you come all the way out here you better hit me up bro, might even go camping with you if the timing works out!
JB, thanks for the reviews. I enjoy watching! The camera does stay on now. One of the first things I noticed moving from my 2020 DNali to 2024 DNali U. Do you think the exhaust brake has improved or still the same? In your reviews way back you inflated your tires for towing. Did you do that for this drive?
I did my first tow with my 24 HD ZR2. Kept getting trailer connected/disconnected message in the DIC. Everything is secure in plug, trailer lights and brakes always worked, so think it's something in computer. Guys with the 1500 ZR2s have experienced the same. The electronics in these 22-24 rigs are janky.
@majorpayne51 seen others report the same. Dealer put it on their trailer simulator and they said it tested fine. Since then, got a service park brake message that came on and then off and hasn't come back. Probably have to bring it back. I'm just gonna tell them I want the brake module replaced.
I run the same truck. I keep exhaust break off till I'm about to need it then down shift 1 gear and then turn it on. This allows you keep the rpms lower with the exhaust break on. It keeps the trans from down shifting twice and rpms going way up. specially if you touch the break pedal at all it will down shift and rpms jump to high for my liking. Try it tell me what you think.
The exhaust brake on the L5P Duramax doesn't do much of anything unless you're over 2000-2500 RPM. It's designed to be used without having the trans in manual and it will only activate after a light brake activation on a downgrade. I don't care for that as an old school trucker but if you let it works as GM designed, it works well.
The AT4x is the best all around truck, you nailed it. If you have a truck you enjoy driving, love to look at, and can tow, your winning. Dont disrespect the Travel Trailer. Dont skimp on the hitch. I personally tow our 39 foot mesa ridge with a hensley arrow hitch and it keeps it straight and true. Pro pride is other manufacturer of the no sway hitch.
Hey JB definitely appreciate the MPG info on the 2024 2500 AT4X I was wondering if you had a 1 ton single wheel or Dooley. Would it do any better or the same MPG
I don't care for these mirrors in my HD ZR2. They are really big and I still can't adjust them to my liking. Seems like there is some magnification or optical games they play. Always seem to have a little blind spot and backing never seems to be squared up. Cameras and review camera help. Don't like the mirrors on my 22 ZR2 either, but the ones on my wife's 23 Tahoe seem to be the best......wtf I like the mirrors on my previous Duramax best, without the bells and whistles.
I have the gas AT4. Seats are small, hard & uncomfortable. Lumbar is minimal to the point of worthless & seat tilt at max setting ends up with the seat almost flat, with minimal left support. Big blind spots at windshield corner posts. Tilt steering travel is limited. Truck rides really rough. For $90k off the lot, very disappointed.
I've got a 2024 2500 LT 4x4 crew cab and looking at getting a momentum 320g. Curious on your thoughts of that pairing. In my eyes, it's really the biggest I would go with that truck.
My 18yr old Duramax gets 11.4mpg towing 14k lbs And no DEF 6speed) 🧐. Now you have the 10speed right.? Mileage should be (GM fault) a hell of a lot better than 9mpg .
Hey JB, you seem to have some good connections with several dealers, maybe someone with GM as well. I have a question I'm trying to get answered that no one I've asked has been able to answer. Why can't you get a 2024 2500HD AT4X in Downpour Metallic? It literally doesn't show up as a build option if you select AT4X and it's marked as unavailable if you look on the options grid showing all the trims and available options.
Gotta chuckle…. Pulling w GMC DuraMax and declare Ram as best tow rig. Nah… Ram had its day… newer Super Duty & 6.7 in Ft and running away. Wow… 9mpg… that’s pretty low in new diesel Trucks! Great Video enjoy!!
You were not using the exhaust brake correctly. You just have to activate it. There are two settings and a certain way to do it. Read the manual on how to operate it. you were operating it incorrectly. Just like the adaptive cruise control, if you read the manual, you would’ve known that it adjusts based on towing a trailer, when you combine that with the exhaust brake, it wont use the brakes unless very necessary.

We just ordered this exact same truck, and it will be here this week. Can't wait. Thanks for the review.
I’ve driven up highway 6 in Spanish fork canyon towing many times. That climb is no joke.
We did Utah's 5 national parks a few summers ago and it was amazing. We will probably head back to Moab this summer.

@@JB_WhoWork you got it!
I'd never buy another 3/4ton. It's like the truck it could have been. Lol. 1ton or bigger these days. Everything is getting bigger and heavier.
JB, thanks for the reviews. I enjoy watching!

Great review as usual. You do a great job. Thank you
I think you will do well towing the fifth wheel! 500 miles diesel!

On mine the trailer brake kept connected/disconnected, was the trailer break module. GM has a new design complete with new part#

Love the videos. You helped me decide on getting my HD ZR2. How’re you getting such good fuel mileage?

Hey man great content!! Love your At4x. Which hitch did you end up going with ?
The AT4x is the best all around truck, you nailed it. If you have a truck you enjoy driving, love to look at, and can tow, your winning.

Are the seats less hard than the previous years? I had a 2020 Denali 2500 and sold it due to the seats being hard as a rock. Great video man, thanks!
No, but I've done 10 hour days and it isn't that bad.
I don't care for these mirrors in my HD ZR2. They are really big and I still can't adjust them to my liking. Seems like there is some magnification or optical games they play. Always seem to have a little blind spot and backing never seems to be squared up. Cameras and review camera help.

My 2001 chevy 2500hd duramax has most comfortable seats compared to new trucks.
I've got a 2024 2500 LT 4x4 crew cab and looking at getting a momentum 320g. Curious on your thoughts of that pairing. In my eyes, it's really the biggest I would go with that truck.

GMC should have made this truck in a 1 ton.
Gotta chuckle…. Pulling w GMC DuraMax and declare Ram as best tow rig. Nah… Ram had its day… newer Super Duty & 6.7 in Ft and running away.

I can't believe you are towing a 40ft fifth wheel with a 3/4 ton truck. I would love to see your payload numbers.
He showed them in the last video!
Keep the cougar, those things fepriciate like hell, waste of money, your is still nice! Dont piss good money away
I would look at a Logan coach toy hauler. They are lower than the fifth wheel and made in Utah

Do you like the power life gate or the multi flex tail gate better?
9.5 miles to gallon for diesel is said I have a 23 250 7.3 with 4.30 rear pulling 14000 I get 8.5 to 9 miles to the gallon
Is there clearance to put on 37s without any modifications?
500 miles? I thought you went on a road trip, not a quick jaunt to the corner market.
Im convinced that’s all he does 😂😂😂😂😂
I love mine AT4X but do not like the MT’s on the road noise. Looking to go BFG or Recons in the same size.
They are a little louder now that I have put a couple thousand miles on the truck
I think mine are petty quiet. The Toyo RT Trails are good. I'm gone run 37s on my 2500 HD ZR2.
As soon as you said Ram was the best towing truck, you killed your credibility.... I'm not even gonna finish the video...😂
What does he do for a living
My GM Tpms valve stems from G M won't fit my 5th wheel rims I have a 2024 Seirra. Valve stem hole is to big. Suggested fix?
Your best bet is to test fit them in other trailer wheels and buy a new set
Try 10% grand
But no one can really afford it
Squatttttttt
