When buying MOBI plan for 1/4 of the power. But they are very tough, easy to use and still the best value as all the solar panels is lying!

Most of those ebay panels that claim 300-400w are really just 100w panels. Depending on the price you pay for them they can still be good value.

I was in the middle of N.T on a 42degree day and the MOBI maxed at 6amps on the 200w blanket. It's a solid blanket, very tough but expect about 1/4 of the power to what they market it as. Still the best value for money, but I wish they were honest so I could properly plan as it wasn't enough to keep my fridge running and had to stop at Repco Alice springs to buy more solar panels. The Andersons plugs discolor after a while, but survived a harsh 4 month tent camping trip. Overall I feel deceived they lied about output and was always concerned that it may have a faulty wire joining the panels. I was about to rip it open but very tough panels! Thrown around everywhere! Blown, dragged in the middle of the desert.

I bought a 300W MOBI and it was lucky to get an average of 65W in full midday sun. I returned it. I also found cell damage in one panel. I kind of feel sorry for the resellers on EBAY. If it had of got an average of 125 to 150W it would have been a good buy because they are like 1/3 the cost of leading brands. However, the low output means they're just as expensive as the leading brands. They are well packaged and assembled though which is one pro.
So the 300W MOBI solar blanket should be called at maximum a 100W solar blanket as I did see a peak of 89W for about two seconds before the panel warmed up, one a crystal clear cold midmorning. I ran it for a week and it never got over 65W for that whole time after that.

Love how straight to the point you are. I am looking at canopy solar setup.
Do you know much about them?
If so love to hear your thoughts of a setup.
I am wanting to have the setup in my Ute canopy then hook it to my older stile caravan to run 12v.
Also wanting to run an inverter to run microwave and roof top aircon when needed.
If you have any advice it would be much appreciated.

Perhaps grab a multimeter & test the Voc & Isc of all 3 just to check they are all close to spec.
Maybe there's a fault in the Mobi somewhere.

I have the mobi 250w blanket and it puts out more than that, something wrong for sure

I bought a Mobi 200w. While wait for it saw your video. Testing my panel under perfect conditions could only achieve "68 watts" from a "200w panel" My old 120w more than 15+ years old next to it consistantly did 90w. I don't care about the cost per watt if I bought a "bigger" new panel to keep the fridge and electronics going but it's worse then that's just pathetic. I sent the Mobi back and bought a Bluetti.

I bought mobi glass panels a while back, 250w claimed output and i think the most i saw was 120w, so since i bought 6 of them, and i was getting around 50% of claimed output on a clear adelaide summers day with them on a dual axis solar tracker, i ended up offering the seller three options. They collect and refund 100%, they refund 50% and i keep them, or accc gets an email for their fraudulent advertising claims.
    They refunded 50% 😂

Mobi panels very disappointing....I think I'll give them a miss. Question ----> I'm assuming you were running a parallel anderson plug cable in order to run the different solar panels at once (e.g. Kings and Mobi) through the victron mppt?

What brand is the old faithful 160 watt ?

  • @dominic-ryan

That is pretty dismal performance, should be getting better considering the conditions. I've got the Mobi semi flexible 400W panels which fall well short on claimed too, but they did a lot better than this.

Wow that’s pretty bad performance, I’d be chasing my money back from that Mobi and Kings suppliers

your mobi is a dud should of sent back. mine gets at least 8-10 amps most the day if sunny and angled right. also use a proper measurer not a mobile phone.I know this does not reflect 400w but for the price they are a gem the mobi ones and shit all over kings for the price. Having said that i bought mine a month ago and they might be slightly different models, You think the mobi falls short. Then give us the price of the panels. All that matters is amps per price or you rewiews are useless.Thumbs down for me,
