I can't believe I just recently learned about this!! Descript's Quick Recorder is better than whole companies who make software to do only that (Loom, BombBomb, etc). I use it so much now!
When you want to screen capture and at the same time capture the webcams, does it create two separate video files? If not, does it allow you to select the layout of the composed video, as in where the face appears on top of the screen capture video? I can see in all examples a circle inthe low left with the face which I’m hopping is configurable. Ideally it’s capturing two separated videos so it can be decided post capture! 😊
Yes - using the in-app recorder to record face and screen produces two separate files and surfaces the video as a multi-track sequence. You can move/configure the camera view however you like, including deleting it from scenes or sections while the audio plays over your screen recording. Hope this helps!
Hi there! Great question. Descript is committed to modeling a responsible implementation of our Overdub feature. You can read our full ethics statement and FAQ here: www.descript.com/ethics And learn more about the feature itself here: www.descript.com/overdub
To record the joiners for a radio talk show, would it be better for me to make a screen recording? Up to now, I've been starting a new project, then recording in Descript using the record button -- but that's different from the screen recording, right? I wonder which is a better workflow.
Hi there - are you using a Windows or a Mac machine? Right now, pause is only available on Macs, not Windows (though it's on our roadmap to make it available for PCs as well). So sorry for the confusion, we missed making this clarification.
For some reason all quick recordings that could be accessed from drive are just of 6 sec and they are completely blank, not playing... tried multiple times to record, but everytime the same issue is happening
For some reason, the quick editor is non-intuitive for me, so I end up just copying and pasting the file into a project and editing there. Also, I believe there is a conflict with the hotkey for Quick Record and the Mac builtin screen capture. Something strange happens when I hit the quick capture keys, sometimes it opens, and sometimes it does not. So what I end up doing it using the menu bar to start recording. Works fine.

Hi, I am using descript for screen recording,. All looks fine while recording from webcam, but in final output it looks flipped/mirror imaged which is quite irritating. Also it looks very clear while recording but in final output for some reason quality is reduced.

With all due respect, your overdub feature is misleading. It will NOT work with video of me talking to the camera because it does not alter my lip movements in the video to match the new edited words. It only works on audio. You guys are tricking a lot of people into thinking that they can actually edit a video of themselves speaking to the camera by changing the words, which they can’t.

Love it, could you please make a tutorial, on how to make such a full video with only text that you have on video.
These are so helpful, Andrew! Thank you.
That's great.
Very nice, I didn't know it existed !
So clear and concise. Thanks
Any plans on releasing Descript to the iPad?

Your walkthroughs belong in Heaven 👼
Great vid. Are are there any privacy concerns when using the overdub feature? Does descript have access to use our voices etc. Thanks

When I record with the tool, I don't see the Pause icon to pause the recording, only the stop. Is there a setting somewhere to enable that ?

I can't seem to find the studio sound on my platform in the settings, please advise?

This is kind of cool for making quick recordings for social media comments 🤔
Thank you 😊
