In the Odesa region, we call a baked or fried (faster) pie with various fillings (potatoes, cheese, apples) plachinda (плачинда) (I mean plăcintă in romanian wikipedia). Sometimes a placinda is mistakenly called a palyanytsia. But palyanitsa is more like bread than a pie.
That's interesting, thank you for sharing! In Romania and Moldova we also have a wide variety of 'placinte' with all sorts of fillings, very similar to what you're describing. Palyanitsa is new to me though, will have to do a bit of research about it!
