Dancer is fun when you have to properly fight there, but you can burst her down way too quick. Not just sellsword blades, but also Black Flame or magic.
Great fight has to be hard in 99%(except midir, he is trash). Isshin(as is old, as is young), malenia, fume knight, lorian&lothric, friede, nameless king, sir alonne, arthorias, manus, kalamyth, sihn and so and so on. Dancer isn't even a good fight, she is only normal-not bad. Easy fight, good design, no interesting lore, normal second phase, normal-good soundtrack. Just compare her to bosses like lorian and lothric, to nameless king, to sister friede, to soul of cinder. No chances to dancer to even reach some parts of theirs fights, not even catch up with all the fights.

Vordt has one of the best souls designs around. Observe him and don't be hasty and he is piece of cake, spamm r1 and you are dead. His weakness is also perfectly designed (it's rolling into him), to the point you can easily walk between his legs without getting blocked and spank his ass is also wonderful. He is built in spirit of souls games.

Nah Oceiros is dogshit and the Dancer is really good but not the best. Edit: I have since changed my opinion. Oceiros is underrated but not by much. 2nd phase charging attack is really bad.

Yeah, I agree with that placement personally. I find dancer extremely boring with an okay track. Dragon Slayer's had one of the best tracks in the game and despite not being the biggest challenge is still an epic battle as the stage of game he's placed has you and him solidly as equals.

The fight that follows is them fighting you while fighting each other and everytime one of them goes down another one rises. Has a predictable but absolutely cool pattern, the lore behind them is both amazing and tragic, all of it, just perfect.

I would even say the twin princes have a better track than sister friede/ariendel and the soul of cinder. In my opinion of course, plus their story and dialogue is so sad. People were disappointed that it was the last set of ashes they needed to relink the fire, but it's perfect because they so desperately don't want you to prolong the age of fire, they forgive you for fulfilling your duty but remind you they have their own as well. It doesn't need to be some impossible battle or grand finale (though the grand finale definitely belongs to the soul of cinder), it just needs to be a beautiful asf story
For me, the Dancer is the perfect example of what a fromsoft boss is: a twisted, nightmarish creature that yet, retains some elegance from a glorious, almost forgotten past. Also, the OST is simply amazing.
Abyss Watchers has many great things about it. A great OST, great atmosphere, great theme and lore. The fight itself is quite cinematic and it's refreshing as one of the few actually good bosses in the first half of the game.

You do not want to fight that guy. One of the worst bosses in the game. He literally attacks so frequently that you just never have any openings to attack him yourself without taking damage and then he summons a second version of himself so both of them are attacking you at once. Best thing to do with summon for that fight and cheese him with the strongest weapon while he's distracted

The slowest weapon in the game and I didn’t trade with him. If you’re trading with Pontiff, you’re bad. - You can also parry him. Almost every melee move is parryable, like they couldn’t have made it easier. - His clone HP is super low so when he spawns it you can deal easy damage to him and the clone.
Oceiros isn't bad, but that bloody instakill charge of his is pure BS. However, if you judge him by OST, he's got my favourite OST in the DS series along with Gael and the main theme.

One of my favorite details in the transition between Arthur and John is with the journal. You will notice that Arthur is a fairly talented artist with nice flowing handwriting. But when john starts using the journal, you see his drawings are comparatively crude and his writing more of a scrawl.
I am terrible at the Abyss Watcher fight but they are so cool, and their music is so good that I did an abyss watcher RP run and will be doing the same for Elden Ring.
I haven't played DS3 but I will, not now, not too soon but I will, maybe the next year or at the end of this one. The bosses have a very cool visual design 😮
I fought dancer again after 7 years. I actually agree that she's just alright. I think the only reason she worked me when I first play ds3 was because my health pool was low and I was getting 1-2 shot. If you've got enough health if you mess up, she's easy. Don’t even need to exploit her, just be aggressive. The intimidation factor and hesitating because of her movement is what messes with peoples heads. Nameless king and those DLC bosses, though...still a struggle.
One of my core memories is me and my friend were on a new playthrough and I was out of embers and vort so I jokingly said just wait one sec gonna fight dancer, then a minute later I somehow first tried her
I wonder if Miuras death has suddenly made a lot of manga authors realise “oh shit, we can die at any second - I should probably make precautions incase of that involving my story” because I’ve seen a few different authors make changes or reveal their plans incase of the worst
