No, Hollywood screws everything up these days. It would be better to have higher quality fan films at this point. Edit: I think that some good fan made animated versions of these books would be great, given the lockdowns. No anime, though. Realistic Edit: No Calart either....
@Raylan Givens That would be nice, but they big studios have ways of keeping independents down. All the effects companies, and advertising agencies all want to stay on the good side of the big six. If a great Conan movie is made, it will probably be a group of dedicated fans who don't even expect to make money off of it. If Hollywood finally has a real market crash without bailouts, well that would open the door back up. It's a long shot though, Hollywood has lots of friends in banking and government lol Sorry, I can be pretty black pilling on Hollywood.
This was the first one I read. Edit: Aside from the one about the assassins trying to kill King Conan, and getting their asses handed to them. I don't remember it well. I can't even remember if he survived the attack, but I know he kicked the hell out of them.
Did REH have any actual knowledge of fencing? He says things on occasion that makes me think he had some kind of experience with martial arts and melee weapons.
Howard was very well read, so I imagine he had knowledge from reading at least. Here are a couple of quotes you might find interesting: “I used to wish that I could learn to fence, but the opportunity never presented itself, fencing masters not being very commonly met with in West Texas. A friend and I, several years ago, decided to try to learn the art by practice, and being unable to obtain foils, we used a pair of army swords. It was my misfortune, however, to run him through the right hand in the very first bout, and thereafter he could never be persuaded to fence again. I doubt, though, if fencing could ever have interested me like boxing, since it is, apparently, founded on finesse, and gives little opportunity for the exercise of ruggedness and sheer physical power.” “Weapons, especially edged weapons, axes, swords, and spears, hold my attention as nothing else can. Long ago I started collecting them, but found it a taste far too expensive for my means. I still have the things I did manage to get hold of - a few sabers, swords, bayonets and the like.”
It is a great shame that so many REH stories have been taken down-Copyright they say-I could understand but none of these works are available elsewhere so who enforces copyright whilst doing FA. Like El Borak audiobook by Michael Mc Connahie! I have looked everywhere on the net and even sent him an email and Audible who produced it! They are not interested... so why enforce copyright? It is so Gay.
There is a dramatized shorter version of The Tower of the Elephant that i listened before this one, also pretty good, but what caught off guard was Yag-Kosha the alien Elephant man, i mean, freaking aliens in the Conan universe?, that is so cool and it has gotten into listening to these audiobooks! Btw Yag-Kosha was a good boy, he didn't deserve what Yar did to him and it's nice that thanks to Conan, he gets a second chance at being free and happy!
Fantasy fans need this adaptated into a series or movies with the same care and budget as Game of thrones or LOTR

Yeah, I’ve been saying that, but it’d be just too hard to pull off in modern times with the proper attention to detail

@@Mephilis78 you do know not anime is moe BS. I was thinking guin saga style or Vinland saga style. We don't need no Soa or HSDXD crap.
I LOVE CONAN AND THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST ONES FOR SURE

One of the best of Howard’s stories, fantastic reading.
One of my favourite Conan stories, and a pleasant reading; thanks for sharing!
Wow, really cool! Didn't expect it to go into a very Lovecraftian ending! Thank you for recording/reading!
I believe that Howard was actually into Lovecraft. I remember reading that somewhere..... idk if it's true
@@Mephilis78 they corresponded and were friends.
Great narration. Absolute classic. RIP Howard.
I would love a reading of "The Thing In The Crypt" Conan story.......
Did you record this? Really good work, I hope it helped you get a job doing voice overs
Yes, I did record it. I’m not seeking voice over work, but I thank you for the compliment.
Extremely well narrated! Thank you for posting!
Thank you for listening!
I read the book, I read the comic, and I now listen to the video book. I feel completed.
fantastically done! listening twice in a row. Thank you for posting!
Thanks, man. I like dramatizations, but I prefer to pay attention to the narrator. Good job.
conan from: cross plains tx........

This is my favorite conan story and you did it more than justice. Well done!

Considering Robert knew Lovecraft, i do get some Lovecraftian vibes from this one.
Probably REHs finest short story or atleast the most concise and imaginative. Howard at his most bombastic n weird
The exposition and ending sounds like a quest line from the Witcher 3
So cool that someone has recorded these amazing tales from REH - nice reading! subbed! :)
Fantastic read! Thank you so much, dawg
Thank you for a clear and clean audio reading.
Thank you!
Very nice
Thanks! I was hoping to get into the books. This is a good preview. I love the Conan mythos and setting.
Man, that was great once the story got going. Very well read.
