A 5080 with 24gb of gddr but a 96 or 128 bit bus width on pci-e 5 would just be a continuing slap to their collective faces. Here's hoping they learned their lesson with the stagnant 40 series sales. Everything that's happening is squarely on the shoulders on the consumer. They would be forced to lower prices if people in general were less then stupid.
I think you have it backwards. This is NVDA's fault, not the consumer. The price is high because the demand is high and availability is low. Calling people stupid for buying things is silly.
@@Strykenine to be clear they we stupid before they bought things. Furthermore, I'd say 70% to 90% do not NEED an Utra powerful GPU they just WANT it. Again, to be clear they are stupid because they can't tell the difference between need and want.
Businesses and companies are notoriously known for being manipulative to the consumer; they unfairly exploit the consumer's ignorance and desires to sell their products. It's not inherently just stupidity. This is because they do not honestly state much about their products thru their marketing and often exaggerate their qualities. They don't care if you're getting a solid product; they care about money.
It really sounds to me like we, the consumers, need to stop using RUclips. Their need to constantly push ads is insane... oh wait, I don't see any of them... disregard everything I said... 😉
I’m using RUclips more then any other streaming service. That’s why I’m paying premium for my whole family and we get additionaly RUclips music for all our music needs. I seriously don’t see an issue here nothing is for free. My biggest issue is the censoring that really pisses me off.
I bought an 8GB 580 in 2020, right before everything went nuts. I still use it. When I build a new machine, I'm going to make a new low power consumption system and use the 580 in it. It's a really solid GPU.
At this point, the best path forward for both AMD and Intel on the graphics front would be to give us decent performance with an onboard GPU. I'd love to ditch dedicated GPU's altogether in favor of a smaller form factor pc.
AMD is fighting a losing battle between staying consumer friendly with long term support of AM4 socket and pleasing stockholders with the launch of new products.
"...so Nvidia could focus on the production of it's much more profitable AI GPUs..." or they realized that the 12VHP connector was a fire hazard, and pushing more wattage through it was a bad idea?
The only Ryzen chip I would be interested has the same damn flaw as the X3D chips - needing to turn off half the cores to play games and then remember to enable them again when not. The whole point was to have a single chip you could play and work on - but that requires more work to accomplish. I'm cruising fine on the AM4 5950X with 128 GB of memory and RTX 4080. At this point, I'd rather have more PCIe lanes but holy crap latest Threadripper is pricey.
Great, thats all I want. RUclips ad's on a pause screen. You know, the place I go to find good teachers to teach me things they like doing? Yup... I totally freaking want there to be an add when I need to get a closeup of it.... Or you know ... charts or settings when I am setting up something different on a raspberry pi and arduino, or anything Steve is putting out on screen, much less Paul. Exactly...... *facepalm*
I've got a Ryzen 1700x which is still working fine. It's not my main machine, but the cost of updating would not be worth the gain in performance for a second machine. Will look at AM5 when that machine dies, so probably another 3 years.

I could be wrong, and people will definitely say so but if the 5090 starts at 2k (meaning AIB cards will approach 3 grand) it might actually be beyond many peoples limits. I know plenty of not rich people who made the stretch to pick up the 4090, usually in prebuilds, but the economy and inflation has been terrible, unemployment is rising and people are just generally having to work more and game less. If I were a scalper I would not be making the gamble to try and flip one in this economy. But If the 5080 is +10% perf of the 4090 (as is rumored) and comes in around the 1k price point that will be the top seller for sure. I would not be surprised to see 5080 AIB cards at the old 3090 price point of $1500.
AMD dropped the ball so hard by not competing properly on the GPU market. The market was so ready for a hero and AMD just decided to match the baddie Nvidia.
I am up for my final PC build .. but I see no point till I know what 870E is going to suit, if it ever does. Currently I have only seen them with 4 Sata ports ... no, not good enough, 6 Sata is minimum, 8 to 10 far better Also what cpu I will be going with, and what price the 5090 will be if it ever comes out. So its a wait, wait wait thingie for me. And then probably more waiting. or I will keep my AM4 build ... nothing wrong with it either.
We dont need new CPUs we need cheaper and faster GPUs. They are artificially keeping us at the current GPU speeds or slowing down advancement. Its like PC progression has peetered off.
i hate nvidia almost as much as i hate the gamers buying them at inflated prices because they have no patience or discipline. thus guaranteeing we will never have affordable gpus. nvidia has very anti consumer business practices. but it is the consumer that allows them to get away with it.
@@newearth9027 nice work. i bought a used 3080ti instead of a new 40 series card. the prices were too extreme, and at least buying used cards doesnt directly fund nvidia. if i didnt use vr i would have just stuck with my 2070 super (comparable to your 1080ti. its still a great gpu for flatscreen gaming, even at 4k medium settings).
Bought a 7900 XTX for that exact reason. To give some perspective a 4080 would have cost me around €1.500 for the cheapest Windforce model from Gigabyte. The 7900 XTX was € 1.000. It was (together with the 7900 XT) the only graphics card I had seen in years that was sold under MSRP where I live in Europe. If a card costs $1.000 in the US, it usually means that in Europe you pay around €1.200 - €1.300 (minimum). The second reason I bought it, is because I don't want to deal with looking at graphics card prices in the next few years. This thing should keep me going for some time. Hopefully by the time I need a new one, we'll have more options and better prices. My hope is that by that time Intel has GPU's that fully compete with NVIDIA's and AMD's offerings and we get some healthy competition. Might be wishful thinking though, from my part. :/
You need a 4090 to get decent performance. Black wukong only runs at 30fps native on the 4090. I had to use dlsss and turn down the shadows to get 60fps.
People struggle to understand just how important it is for Nvidia to launch the 5080 and 5090 in Q4. Christmas Holiday is huge, and they won’t miss that surge while also taking 4090s off the shelf. My bet is that the 5080 will outperform the 4090 by a decent 10%+ and the 5090 by 15-20%. And before you say “high end buyers will buy no matter when” - it isn’t about that. People don’t shop in January or February because they are tapped from Christmas, and also, you want those halo products out there in the hands of the public and reviewers to generate hype for the down-budget offerings like the 5070 and 5060. If Nvidia misses Q4 launch I will eat my hat.
well here 40 series is hard to get purchasing offers have been told 40 chips are no longer being made by nvidia and November will be rtx50 announcement and December and January first cards.

WOW! This episode just left Joe's head spinning!! LOL!
Shout out to the 3060 Bro’s, it’s time to upgrade as you guys are majority on Steam survey
Let's see if nVidia learned their lesson about catering to PC Gamers with this new 50 series launch. A 5080 with 24gb of gddr but a 96 or 128 bit bus width on pci-e 5 would just be a continuing slap to their collective faces.
Here's hoping they learned their lesson with the stagnant 40 series sales. Fingers crossed.
I wish I lived long enough to see an Nvidia GPU get priced the same as a model name. Looks like I don’t even need to wait much longer.
It's crazy how expensive a flagship graphics card can be. Good thing there's still good option for 400 USD or less.
I am still going to wait till after the new year some time, waiting to see both what Intel and Nvidia bring to market.. if that be the Intel I9 285K and Nvidia 5090, that is what I am waiting to see if and when they come out.. not buying though till some time after the new year.. mostly because besides waiting for the new tech, I simply do not trust what we have for government..
Ngl, that lil human crane Paul had me gigglin, hahaha
Everything that's happening is squarely on the shoulders on the consumer. They would be forced to lower prices if people in general were less then stupid.
I think you have it backwards. This is NVDA's fault, not the consumer. The price is high because the demand is high and availability is low. Calling people stupid for buying things is silly.
@@Strykenine to be clear they we stupid before they bought things. Furthermore, I'd say 70% to 90% do not NEED an Utra powerful GPU they just WANT it. Again, to be clear they are stupid because they can't tell the difference between need and want.
@@MrBrownpants-w3t Can you please tell me how the market differentiates between need and want.
@@Strykenine the market does not the consumer should but clearly does not
Paul and Joe, y'all have outdone yourselves. These vids are too good for us mere mortals. Keep up the great work!

It really sounds to me like we, the consumers, need to stop using RUclips. Their need to constantly push ads is insane... oh wait, I don't see any of them... disregard everything I said... 😉

always look forward to Pauls tech news on a Sunday morning over coffee.
I bought an 8GB 580 in 2020, right before everything went nuts. I still use it. When I build a new machine, I'm going to make a new low power consumption system and use the 580 in it. It's a really solid GPU.
Ah Spinny Joe Face, should write out secret messages, and be a regular participant in these videos that Paul never acknowledges. Please, Joe.
I actually try to sneak random strange edits though Paul's videos, not sure what goes through lol
"Styrofoam to-go box from your neighborhood taco truck". LMAO! Damn near made me spit out my coffee!
CUDIMM memory sounds very nice in portuguese.
Paul's Tech News gives my Sunday coffee at least a 60% uplift in enjoyment.
At this point, the best path forward for both AMD and Intel on the graphics front would be to give us decent performance with an onboard GPU. I'd love to ditch dedicated GPU's altogether in favor of a smaller form factor pc.
Ah yes... The forthcoming release of the INTEL ErrorLake CPU.
AMD is fighting a losing battle between staying consumer friendly with long term support of AM4 socket and pleasing stockholders with the launch of new products.
Maybe in anticipation that 4090 would make more sense financially than 5090? Lmao
I don't care what PC people say, PC is dying do to over price on hardware, buggy games. I'll stay with my systems.
There's plenty of room (performance-wise) for the 4090 to be in between the 5090 and 5080 and still remain in production.
Good thing RUclips isn’t the only game in town.
We need a Paul vs Steve speed read off
4:34 exact era to have PSY ("Gangnam Style") there as they both were around at least 6 months from each other.
Yeah.... 😐 That was totally why I added that..
Never been a better reason to use an ad blocker.
I really wish all these ads could be against the law, how do we do this??
Just bought a 4k 240hz OLED and currently running a 4080...Give me the 50 series ASAP cause I refuse to upgrade to a 4090 or 4080S at this point.
"...so Nvidia could focus on the production of it's much more profitable AI GPUs..." or they realized that the 12VHP connector was a fire hazard, and pushing more wattage through it was a bad idea?
the thing with the amd 9k series, most people only care for gaming; so it's a missed opportunity on their end to provide details for the x3d model
If you're looking for a 7800X3D the Microcenter in North NJ has 6 in stock at 400.00. Get'em while you can.
GPU prices are a joke !
I remember when a High end GPU cost 550 max.
(Tech aside...) Nice use of an "Equilibrium" reference! That was quite an underrated film. 👍
Yup, when I need to get a closeup of how the guy is carving something, something the survivalist guy is teaching me about camping, or working on putting together a solar charging battery bank for my phone.....
Will look at AM5 when that machine dies, so probably another 3 years.
unfortunate that NVidia has such a hold on the high end GPU market. Now the 4090s are gonna go back up in price until the 5090 drops
5080, not out yet. 9800X3D, not out yet. Intel 15th gen, not out yet. MacBook Air M4, not out yet... Nintendo Switch 2, not out yet... it is a weird time of the universe

Dang. I wanted to build a 4090 build, but the 7800x3d sold out everywhere
I hate this industry so much its insane that 2 year old cards are getting more expensive as time goes on
I could be wrong, and people will definitely say so but if the 5090 starts at 2k (meaning AIB cards will approach 3 grand) it might actually be beyond many peoples limits.
I wonder if there will be anything exciting enough next gen to swap out my current 6950 xt. The current generation was a joke.
AMD dropped the ball so hard by not competing properly on the GPU market. The market was so ready for a hero and AMD just decided to match the baddie Nvidia.
ah, finally the "these morons will buy anything we make" sales strategy is truly failing
RUclips has also changed the 5 second ads to 10,20, and 30 seconds
Just got an ROG Strix RTX 4080 Super last week. It costed me roughly 1600 USD.
An RTX 4090 of any kind easily costs around 2500-2600 USD here.
Rip off.
I am up for my final PC build .. but I see no point till I know what 870E is going to suit, if it ever does.
Currently I have only seen them with 4 Sata ports ... no, not good enough, 6 Sata is minimum, 8 to 10 far better
Also what cpu I will be going with, and what price the 5090 will be if it ever comes out.
So its a wait, wait wait thingie for me. And then probably more waiting.
or I will keep my AM4 build ... nothing wrong with it either.
Having just upgraded to a 5900X, I completely agree.
We dont need new CPUs we need cheaper and faster GPUs. They are artificially keeping us at the current GPU speeds or slowing down advancement. Its like PC progression has peetered off.
I'm sorry, what was all that you were rattling off? I couldn't hear you over Joe's epic editing.
Nice touch on the Equilibrium clips. Love that movie
i hate nvidia almost as much as i hate the gamers buying them at inflated prices because they have no patience or discipline. thus guaranteeing we will never have affordable gpus.
nvidia has very anti consumer business practices. but it is the consumer that allows them to get away with it.
Still rocking my second hand 1080ti and waiting
BS. Nancy Piglosi and most of Congress have made a fortune on insider trading NVidia stock.
You need a 4090 to get decent performance. Black wukong only runs at 30fps native on the 4090. I had to use dlsss and turn down the shadows to get 60fps.
I got a 4090 new for less than MSRP a few months ago, I'm certain the 5090 won't be realistically purchasable until at least 2 years.
The 5090 will launch at an insane MSRP(let's say 2/3 higher than the 4090 MSRP), and never be that price again post-launch.

YT is getting sooo bad. We need to leave YT for a new video service
